No input lag at all, decent quality/framerate. The only concern is when the network drops a little... You have to relaunch it as it doesn't resume properly.

I have to disagree with you there. Games are NOT getting less and less demanding. Why do you think newer games have a hard time running on older hardware? Why do you think GPU's each year get faster and faster to be able to play newer games? Common sense bud

Games, at least quite a few more recent AAA titles have been getting more demanding, some partially due to a lack of optimisation but generally speaking hardware requirements are going up, not down.
@HunterTracks7 ай бұрын
I mean, it depends. I'd say that games are increasingly less demanding _on average_ relative to hardware (i. e. even a $500 PC can last you around a decade if you avoid the AAA space, which was not the case a decade ago), but the most demanding games are growing more demanding by the second.

I've used shadow in the past, about 5 years ago (in the UK). One thing I immediately noticed was wifi was awful to use for their service, despite having the PC sitting right next to the AP. When I switched to an ethernet connection it was almost as if I was sitting at my own PC, although input lag was still noticeable. I imagine the issue you had with the cloud and chromebook was a combination of awful android software, linked with the wifi connection issues. Overall, I've tried a bunch of cloud gaming services over the years and none really come close to replacing an actual PC thanks to input latency and streaming problems. I was not in the slightest surprised when Stadia shut down.

Recently subscribed to Prime, so I gave Luna a shot. As someone who uses GFN, I was VERY impressed with the low latency Luna had. If it was there, it was less than I could perceive meanwhile with GFN while you have to look for it, it is definitely present. Also as long as you have a Prime membership you can play Ubisoft games in your library, though they had to be purchased on Amazon, Epic, or Ubisoft Connect and not Steam (fuuuuuuu....). Assuming the plug isn't pulled like it was with Stadia and proper investments are made, Luna does have the grounding to be a dominant player player in the cloud gaming space.

I used to be a big fan of Shadow back before all the problems started, but they've had major financial issues the past few years, when they first came out their specs were really decent for the price and worked fine (same ones you had actually) but over the course of 6 years the specs haven't changed and the price remained the same, instead they just bolted on even more expensive options for more money. They do offer storage btw, the option you picked is for extra storage, which is actually on a HDD device so slow as anything. They also closed down quite a few datacenters and were eventually bought out by Hertzner (Dont know what happened after that). Which meant people who were subscribed could suddently be half a continent away from a data center and go from usable to 100+ ping consistently and drops in connection. If this was 2018/19 yeah I would say it's worth it, now I'd say youre better off just getting a cheap pc like an optiplex and popping a low profile card in, costs about the same as half a year with shadow but you're getting something you own.

I tried playing FH5 and it could barely load in the road in front of me when driving so the car was constantly freezing while it waited for the environment to load in.

Honestly, yeah, I think the best use case for cloud gaming at the moment is buying a $70-100 USB-C controller, strapping it to your phone, and playing either the free tier of GFN or XCloud if you're already a Game Pass user. It's always been a value add proposition, and spending additional money on it is stupid unless you happen to live directly above a server farm. As for Logitech Cloud, the thing is apparently reasonably good for emulation and Android gaming, so there are ways to get your money's worth out of it. Completely not worth it if you just wanna do cloud gaming, though.
@potatoes58297 ай бұрын
I disagree that the Gcloud is good for emulation. Gcloud is only $50-$100 cheaper than a lower tier steamdeck, which is probably better in emulation, and much better at everything else.

Anyone thinkihg of getting shadow. i personally would say its the best option out of all of these, but i dont like that price tag anymore. with that being said, its still a great option and you wont regret the money you spend on it!

Here's a pro for cloud gaming, saw it during palworld hype. When i installed on xbox the game ran fine until one of their updates then it would just randomly shut ur xbox off and give you "we shut down cuz of heat check ur vents" but on cloud it would just crash and make you relaunch the cloud. So by having it on the cloud it saves ur system from their bugs/glitches from bad updates while they try to figure what they screwed up on.

@2:24, you said it perfectly and correctly. It is convoluted so you can spend more money, full stop. 22$ a month is a LOT for the Ps+ Ultimate final mix upgraded super-ultimate, super-mega bundle of stuff, but as you said, you do get access to all those games. I have a normal Ps+ membership ($60/yr) and there is stuff on there that I don't get the better option(s) for, like X-game for free or the opportunity to play something for a certain amt of time before purchasing. This last one I've seen once. I use the PS Remote play constantly, when my wife is watching tv in the living room and I am in my computer room and wanting to play on the Ps5, I can do that. The only thing that sucks about it is that the quality sometimes dips and the stream gets grainy. It might be different if I was on a wired connection, but somehow I doubt that. I do have to admit thought that when I do use it, 95% of the time my stream is very good and the quality & responsiveness is actually pretty damn good.

I started using Xbox live for cloud just out of curiousity yesterday. I wanted to play Persona 3 Reload on the couch - my pc is capable enough to run everything I play at 1440p high refresh rate (3070) but it’s much nicer chilling on the couch. Not only can I play in comfort on my 16” M1 MBP (so a nice screen and sound), but surprisingly it runs very well on my phone (iPhone 12 pro max) using a switch pro controller with the phone mounted to it when I’m in the bathroom or on the go etc. There are a lot of games I would love to try out but would never pay for because I know I wouldn’t finish them and this is a great solution for me. Latency is super good and very smooth (modest internet at roughly 300 down and 20 up). I’m honestly shocked how good it is. I think the big thing is if you’re going to play the games you chose here, of course it won’t compete with an actual pc. But for literally almost everything else, it’s great. Why only choose racing, competitive shooting and other games that rely on instant input? There are so many games that you will never mind a 5ms extra delay. Doesn’t bother me in the slightest with P3R and there are a ton of other games I can experience now that I would never choose to own, but have access to. I did try Steam link before (surprised it wasn’t mentioned here) but the performance was not good. Not my pc’s fault in terms of specs either. I know it is hit or miss for people. As for Xbox Luve I will definitely be using it now, and if I don’t see myself having time I can just pause the sub u til next time I want to use it. I don’t like the subscriptionification of everything but this is one case where it really benefits me.
