I ripped the insides out the little Acer Nitro 50 I bought at Best Buy and turned it into a custom-built PC gaming beast.

That's what SIs through Amazon and eBay are doing... they'll use stock coolers on Intel or AMD chips, they'll use cheapest GPU's, they'll use the no namest brand RAM, sketchiest psu ever, but oh, you bet it looks good on the outside with the 4-6 included RGB fans and the rgb light strips. They know how to attract people that have no knowledge, but see 'pretty' as 'quality'.

Thanks for the review. I have an older model: ACER Nitro N50-600G-EW11 Gaming Desktop, Core i5-8400, GTX 1050, 12GB RAM, 1TB. I have added a small SSD drive to help with the speed. I have tried to replace existing ZOTAC GTX 1050 with first a MSI GTX 1060 which resulted in a no signal to the monitor. Thinking the GPU to be faulty. I returned it. An ordered an Sapphire Pulse RX580. With the same problem. No signal to monitor. Here are the steps I followed for install: Use DDU to uninstall existing Drivers. Powered down, drain power from unit. Place new RX580 in unit. RX580 fans spins. The Acer will go through 2 false starts before powering up. Monitor will show no signal. Tried with 2 different hdmi cables and 3 different monitors no luck. Tried taking out CMOs and Ram sticks. But no luck. Currently back using original 1050. Any ideas what I've been doing wrong? Appreciate it!

that power button wire is easy to fix, just take sewing needle or saftey pin and and jiggle out the wires then attach an extra length of wires and re stuff them. i did the same with my chassis fan point as i rigged a 90mm amd cpu fan as a chassis fan sharing the same connector with my 120mm chassis fan and connected on one chassis fan connector on my motherboard.

If you had added a 92/80mm exhaust fan to help move some of that hot air, would have improved temps even if only by 2-5c. Personal opinion, I think extra airflow is always good, if possible.

Love the video. I bought one of these, except mine shipped with the RTX 2060 and an i7 9700. I ran Cinebench r20 on it and it got 2480, or something like that--I don't recall the exact score. The only real issue I have with it is the fan noise is crazy loud sometimes; so I'm going to have to fix that. I think I might try your mods at some point.

usually when i have a cable that wont reach somewhere what I'll do is cut off about 2 or 3 inches from the plug and get some regular 16 gauge wire to extend the existing wires. You could do what I do and solder the connections for a more solid hold or you could just do it the old school DIY way and twist them together. You avoid having to buy an adapter and keep more or less the same look and functionality of the original cable.
