I used to have negative views on 5.3 AQ till this conclusion. It pretty much shows why there are people wanting to serve under the Captain. I still have negative views on the 5.3 AQ, it's by far the worst finale since Inazuma, but the Captain's death is not the cause of this. In fact, his death is probably the best part of this quest, and one of the only well executed parts. It's mostly the pacing in the lead-up and during the final battle that made me dislike this finale, because that sh*t was just so bad in my opinion. You can't judge the entire package based on just some parts of it, just like you can't judge an entire package while ignoring other parts of it.
@captaindanger133 күн бұрын
@@Jaynat_SF I like the quest, but I agree with a lot of the problems you bring up. Namely the pacing issues. I think it's better than Inazuma, but it has the same rushing issue. The first half of the quest where we're having a party with Mualani's tribe and the part where we help Kachina's baby saurian with his abyss corrosion syndrome or whatever it's called should've been part of the intermission quest last update. Especially, that part where we help Kachina's baby saurian with the exact issue we were dealing with last update. Then, when we finally get to the final battle, no matter how good I think it was, it was still over WAY too fast. This was supposed to be the big bad powerful creature that's been terrorizing Natlan for A THOUSAND YEARS and somehow we beat it in like 5 minutes...? That makes the boss feel less dangerous than it actually was supposed to be in the story. I'd give the quest like a 7.5/10. I think the story and information we got was pretty good, but the execution of the telling of that story was not the best. We got good lore tho, so lore enjoyers are eating good rn.

Ronova wanted to rush the entire encounter because she wasn’t trying to get caught & punished. She said before if the Heavenly Principles found out about the original deal, she would say oh it was Xbalanque.. etc. etc. I have a feeling that she made the choice of who “dies” based on how much she could charge back up. Energy in Teyvat is limited… so if she’s a Shade, she wants as much of her power back as possible from anyone who uses it. Say Mavuika used 5% total in Acts 1-4, Ronova wants her 5% back, right? I think Capitano had more “death power” accumulated than the amount of “death power” that Mavuika used. We’re led to believe Ronova lost… but in reality, it’s my opinion that she’s gained power & kept the guise of upholding the Heavenly Principles rule of immortality without being found out. Shady Shades being Shady.

So if the source powering the Curse of Immortality is not Ronova (since she's just the upholder of the Curse) but the HP (since they seem to be the ones who inflicted the Curse), does that mean by having Capitano sacrifice himself to Ronova that Ronova is in effect stealing some of the power of the HP _through_ Capinato?
@miiinkus3 күн бұрын
@@TheTimecake nah its more like Ronova has a set amount of energy and wants it back in order to be at full potential. Mortals aren't supposed to wield heavenly powers. Like think about it like this: Say Mavuika owes Ronova $2. Capitano goes "Aye ima give her the $2, dont worry about it. I dont care about the money anyways." Ronova gets paid, Mavuika debt is cleared, and Capitano didnt care anyways because his ultimate goal had nothing to do with the $2. He just wanted to chill. - The curse of immortality is a mandate from the HP that Ronova has to uphold cause thats her job. When she punches in to work, her badge says "Ruler of Death on planet Teyvat." Capitano's sacrifice is both a death that satisfies the debt, and a paradox, bc he can't "die." His soul is gone but his body is not. That's why we can visit him at the Throne. His body is alive but his soul is in the leylines. So to the HP, if they went to look, Capitano is technically still alive, but brain dead and living off an iron lung.

The story also made a big deal of showing us that all three, Xbalance, the Captain and Mavuika are of almost the same power level. I think that is what Renova used to judge them with. "Power Level". You can look at this more as a mathematical equation. Ronova made it so that when people are killed by the abyss, they can be REVIVED with the sacred flame. This means that people **don't** die when they are killed and thus Ronova isn't 'harvesting' points (souls or deaths). Of course, there needs to be an exchange of close value to offset the value of souls not harvested/taken. From what Ronova said to Xbalanque, either an archon (high value death/soul) or many people (lower value souls/deaths?) must die to make up for it. Think of it as repayment/subsitution for the souls not harvested when they are killed. Like the difference between paying with 100x1$ bill or just a single 100$ bill. Capitano is a special case as he is very powerful and old (high value soul/death, close to an archon?) and he carries many souls with him (many lower value souls/deaths), which means he can 'afford' to pay the price for the revival of thousands+ of people.

The travel log in the Archive clearly states that and i quote "To sustain the curse of immortality, Ronova relinquishes her demand for the price of death." Basically meaning that Ronova chose to forsake her rule of death for using her power over forsaking the curse of immortality cuz as Capitano mentions that Ronova lacks the capacity to bear the consequences of a Paradox and like you said relinquishing the curse would mean going against the Heavenly principle's demands. Capitano had Ronova in a Chokehold which is just ABSOLUTE CINEMA.
@Xuasarr2 күн бұрын
Just to clarify, after making Ronova forsake her demand of death, Capitano merges with the Lord of the Night in order to: 1. Change the rules of Natlan to allow outlander souls to rest in the Night Kingdom 2. Allow his soul to rest along with his comrades too mentioned at 14:09 3. Infinitely fuel the Lord of the Night with his immortal body so that the Lord of the Night and the Rules of Natlan are immortal too So Capitano is basically in a perpetual coma. He didn't die cause he had to in order to fulfill Ronova's price of death, he died cause he wanted to.

I remember that one of Neuvillette's stories said something along the lines that, while the power from the Visions come from the gods by giving a portion of their own power, what they receive in turn is much greater than what they give. Maybe the same applies to Ronova here, where she allows her power to be used and as a rule death must come. What caught my attention is that in 5.3 it was stated that the life to be taken must be of the same value. In this case, Capitano's life was a good bargain for Mavuika's. But if it weren't enough, countless lives to would be taken to compensate for that. I have the suspicion that as mentioned earlier, Ronova has some sort of gain here.

(The only reason I see she doing this is that she is just a big tsundere that actually cares about Natlan and sees this a great opportunity to turbo charge the Lord of the Night so that she can protect the Night Kingdom forever from the abyss, but Ronova hasn’t shown any indication of caring that much) This really feels like the the writers had already chosen the ending for Capitano’s story without establishing the process of him getting there but then needed a way to make it happen, and didn’t really thought it through from an outsider perspective.
@daridon24833 күн бұрын
Ronova had to follow capitano's choices because what he said was actually a threat. She didn't accept exchanging the targets, she was forced to. If she didn't forsake any of the two rules and killed mavuika, capitano would still fuse with the lord of the night regardless and trigger the paradox, uprooting the principles of Teyvat and thus getting ronova in a LOT of trouble with the heavenly principles. Also shades seem to have very little freedom in their actions, considering she didn't even kill mavuika herself, but rather had to let her rules do it for her.

You must understand that Ronova as annoying as she is for torturing the Khaenriahns, she did what was mandated by the heavenly principles. She isn't demanding death because she wants to kill anyone, it is simply a rule that she must follow. She needed a life that was of equal or greater sacrifice to Mavuika to satisfy the usage of her power over death. It was either going to be Mavuika or the entire ppl of natlan something to that effect. But Captain's life force and resolve was the perfect catalyst to supersede not only Ronova's mandate but also exact the perfect revenge on the Heavenly principles. Because Ronova cannot undo the curse of immortality, as that involves an entire group of people, at least not without guidance from the Gods above. She chose the paradox instead but The Captain gave her no choice and neither did the Lord of the night who had already decided that she would take on the Captain's life force. And afterall Ronova was the one who initially helped Xbalanque.

@@kirittv yeah but isn't technically Ronova a superior to the Lord of the Night in the celestial hierarchy? Can't just command the Lord of the Night or even if she wouldn't obey, can't Ronova enforce her will with her power? So shouldn't the Lordo of the Night actually fear Ronova? Or at the very least Ronova could just snitch on her to the Heavenly P. however long it takes for it to emerge, on the long term she should be feared, but seems like the Lord of the Night kinda does what she wants. I think this is the problem. I feel that Ronova should be saying "wait a minute i'm the one who decides" then why would she make an objectively worse choice for herself?

I saw a comment from roozevelt's video that perfectly summarize how Capitano save Natlan. - Ronova doesn't have the right to choose the sacrifice(nor doe she care about it), but "the way to die" and bc she accept the " offering a life to the Lord of the Night(LotN)" as the way to pay the debt. It's now the right for the LotN to choose the sacrifice to pay that debt. Kinda like if you buy Ronova's product(power), she ask which way you're gonna pay it. You offer a certain way to pay(offering lif to the LotN) and ask her if she accept that way or not. She doesn't if you're gonna use your own money(life) or others to pay. As long as you pay her in equal amount(or greater), she will accept it. - I think the "amount" of payment is how this "death" can benefit Teyvat. Mavuika offers her life force that prolong the LotN for a few 100 years, while Capitano can offer a much longer life. This is why Ronova said that if the Pyro Archon would be chicken out and offer others, it might cost countless life bc it requires a lot of life to reach that "amount" - The reason why Ronova chose the curse of immortality over her rule of death to avoid the paradox is bc the curse of immortality has higher authority to govern life than the death itself(I think Dain said something along this line before.). That's why those with the curse can't die. About the act 5, while I think it's weaker than Sumeru or Fontaine, I like Natlan AQ as a whole more than the other 2 bc even tho I think Fontaine act 5 is the best act, act 3 and the early part of act 4 brings down a lot of points for me when judging Fontaine AQ as a whole. Compare to Sumeru, I think I like the lore Natlan gives a bit more. Also, I think the peak of Natlan AQ is in act 4, not act 5 like Sumeru and Fontaine.

Thanks for this detailed breakdown. It was established that the curse is on another level of reality so makes sense that immortality curse rule> death from borrowing ronova's power Annoying that the story went on and on about specifically mavuika dying but I get that they were trying to do the win on a technicality "i am no man" type of loophole with who can die. Just badly executed because they backtracked to clarify that it was 'a' death at the last possible moment instead of making the terms of the rule to bend clear from the start. thinking about the scene it did feel out of character for Mavuika to remain silent when someone else offered to be the sacrifice. She was portrayed as being missing her friends and family and tired all this time, but i guess she sensed cap.was even worse off than her so shut her mouth? (Wish we could have gotten her thinking as such at least).

I'm guessing that Ronova might actually be pleased by this, since I doubt that the Shade that brought Death (which was described as being a peaceful respite that led to eventually rebirth) to Teyvat was happy to make an entire nation immortal and force them to suffer for eternity. If this still counts as triggering the paradox, she might actually like it now since it would stress out the Heavenly Principles who were probably behind that order and her current despir.

So from most people's thesis . HP (Heavenly principles):is the boss the boss gives out rules. Roniva is scared of HP. HP says she should be the CEO of the rules not the creator the upholder of the rules. HP like shining shades because they are part if him that's why he firgive ronova first time. Ronova go to Tevyat and become ruler of death not necessarily the creator like a king that rukes a city but isn't the creator the builder the foundation of the city. Ronova borrow Tevyat power that takes part of power it's like mauvika burst 100 she can use it but the damage is lesser but 200 is full power and the best so ronova gave her power from 200 to 100 so she wants some back to fill 200 but inly tangible souls can be offered that must be human because humans by the natural order are mortals and mortals can die which is death. So fir example playable natlan characters csn charge mauvika burst but to a certain extent some give 90(xiolenen)some give 60(kachina) some give 80( chasca) So with this we can make that every mortal has a spirit point that they give like non natlanese gives 1.5 to 2 points per normal atk tick so people like Arlechhino can give up to 10 in one rotation so we can make that non playable characters given even lesser because visions are titles to watch kver humanity in respective areas Non vision holders hild less value in some sort that's why ronova said if the death doesn't take place well plenty of others will die imagine wanting to reach 0 to 200 points but one human non vision holdee gives like 0.5 then multiply by 200 that's 400 people will die for ronova to charge 💀. 💀💀💀💀💀☠️☠️💀💀💀💀💀💀☠️☠️☠️💀☠️☠️. Anyways so ronova is acting all though to humans but in reality she's really scared. Remember when she said the fate of humanity doesn't concern her yeah she chucken out she was growing impatient and needed her power which might imply the impending awake of the heavenly principles. Remember the rhe sustainer. THE SUSTAINER NOT THE CREATOR SUSTAINER OF THE HEAVENLY PRINCIPLES. The principles are the rules and the rules is the like the ruler of the whole of Tevyat. Take it like this. In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. The word is the principles the principles are with phanes and the principles is phanes so to defy the rules is to defy the person of phanes please don't compare phanes to God it's an analogy. Anyways. The sustainer would be the one uphold the rules so like the ronova is scared of the sustainer because she's gonna snitch of her if she finds out😂😂 i could go on and on but the so called gods are literally children in disguise. It's like saying adults don't cry. They shouldn't 😅😂😂

Along with humans being equal in the eyes of the greater beings of Teyvat, I think your explanation is also supported by the fact that Ronova was still getting the other alternative she posited with Xbalanque from Capitano's sacrifice--namely, the thousands of innocent "lives" Capitano was sheltering within him which were now able to flow into the Night Kingdom and become part of the "death" established as a rule of Natlan's Ley Lines.

This is what i think happened. I cant explain it properly but ill try The ruler of death relinquished the demand for death. The uproot in the natural order would be caused if the Captain sacrificed( with death) himself. But since the ruler of death relinquished the demand of death it just merely resulted in the fusion without death.

u know, ive been thinking about something. In fontaine they said the heavenly principles are asleep cause they are prolly wounded or something. And we know one of the 4 shades Asmodeus (the unknown god in the starting game cutscene) was prolly wounded after the khanreah disaster if u look at her hands. Now that is why we all thought the heavenly principle n the shades were quiet when the hydro throne was destroyed was cause they were in a hibernation state. YET we see Ronova casually coming here to fulfill her contract. So that means the other shades must be awake as well, so why didn't they do anything when the hydro throne was destroyed n its power to returned to a dragon soverign?!? Because we know Phanes n their shades fought Nibelung and the sovereigns so they should have responsibility even if Phanes was the only one asleep. And heck even Ronvoa saw Paimon directly n didn't comment anything about her. Also am i the only one who finds Ronova's voice kinda hot?

I have to say that the whole sequence of Capitano’s death starting from when we first arrived at Ochkanatlan this archon quest was done very well. Ronova look incredible, the voice acting from Capitano was amazing and the death was fitting. Also Capitano’s life being worth as much as Mavuika’s does make sense to me as they were portrayed as equals in the entire Natlan story.

I thibo one other thing that people overlooked despite being huge thing lore-wise: Khaenriah souls (some) returning to the Leyline. Part of Curse of Immortality decreed upon Khaenriah is that their souls wouldn't be able to return to Leyline. However because Ronova chickened out and let Capitano fused with Lord of the Night, this give him access to Natlan Ley Line which allows his subordinates spirit to finally laid to rest. This has huge implications because Curse of Immortality is a decree made by the Heavenly Principles themselves. While Ronova did not trigger the paradox by abrogating her own rule, Capitano still did so by return some Khaenriah souls to the Ley Line: Khaenriah souls shouldn't be able to return to Ley Lime yet some do! This, I speculate, should have create paradox in itself. But why they don't make it as much as big of a deal in contrary to reality? I think it because Mihoyo wanted to this Natlan story to properly conclude without this Capitano part of the story steal the spotlight. He is definitely a plot device that used for hook and cliffhanger for the next arc of story but like I said before Mihoyo deliberately downplay its gravity.

In summary, in using Ronova's power, she then demands death equivalent to the initial agreement. This could mean one death or many to make up for the one. Death is not required. It's simply the *rule* that Ronova has made.

The way i saw it, capitano and mavuikas lives werent equal because theyre both human, but rather that their roles in the fate of teyvat are equally important. If celestia can control fate- then some random natlan schlub cant be scapegoated as a sacrifice. One contradiction to my idea is that Aether/Lumine werent ever considered as an equal sacrifice to Mavuika, possibly because theyre a descender

Any idea why Ronova cannot deal with the paradox creted using her own rule? If she rejects the rule that death is necessary for using her power, then Capitano's paradox should be resolved. That seems to be a better outcome than ignoring the paradox that can break the world.

theres still hope for capitano to be playable, if you want more info on that watch catwithbluehat's video on that, but i have some theories on how he could become playable in 2 scenarios (please correct me if i have any flaws) 1. capitano probably harbors hate towards the 5 sinners, so maybe just maybe dottore makes him a vessel similar to his old self(thrain) and speaks to the lord of the night on bringing capitano back/the lord of the night using the vessel to bring vengeance on the 5 sinners 2. (more likely to happen) (not leaks just speculation) 5.7 archon quest abyss order come to natlan(this is likely already happening due to the appearance of the cryo abyss herald that we say in the boss fight domain and mind you we have only seen a cryo abyss herald TWICE once in the caribert archon quest, and the other in the spiral abyss, this calls for some crazy shit happening) because they are trying to find out how the loom of fate works, and is probably best done in natlan because it has a night kingdom instead of normal leylines, they succeed in finding it out and then they speak with mavuika and the lord of the night on replacing the night kingdom with their new, fresh, strong ley lines. They accept the offer since its better than night kingdom, and then the captain alongside the lord of the night have nowhere to go, they seek a vessel to take form in, but because of capitano's sense of righteousness he chooses to take form in his original body, and voila hes back (copium)
@goofyobama3 күн бұрын
just found 2 more ways this could happen 3. a new capitano is made from his stories in natlan, 1 for thrain, the other for the captain, as people realise that they are teh same person, the souls start to merge, then capitano/the lord of the night grant them the ability to take form in the mortal realm(idk if thats possible tho) and they go back to capitanos body as they have the same sense of nobility/justice as the real capitano does. 4. the fatui do some real evil and sinister shit and try to seperate capitano from the lord of the night, they would do this as a way to try and convince mavuika to give them the gnosis, dottore could provide a new vessel for capitano and maybe the abyss order and the fatui collaborate by one of them making new ley lines while columbina does some evil ass angel magic shit to seperate capitano from lord of the night. Columbina could also find a way to take the existing memories and souls from the night kingdom to the new ley lines.

This us just like in Fontaine. The flood as a punishment is required, but not people's lives. Death is paid, for Mavuika live is so precious that many people in Natlan would die Edit: Not exactly, but I think that the rule. I think Celestia didn't notice something is bad untill bang there is no hydro archon anymore xd. So no intervention happen. Just send Ronova Edit Celestia isn't that smart, Furina faking archon was convincing that all nation and archon were going to die. But hell no divide throne was destroyed.

Ronova: as a shade I'm limited and can't overstep my boundaries.... don't tell the PO about this please Lord of the Night: oh the PO's gonna hate this idea.... well I dgaf.... I serve humanity It feels as if the Angels have a mandate that exceeds even the PO, meaning they can disagree with the PO as long as it's for humanity's sake. But the Shades, though more powerful, and in some sense the bosses, do NOT have such a mandate. Ronova orders Lord of the Night to take Mavuika and she says "no". Ronova says to herself more or less, "well you're an Angel after all, so you have your own mandate". Is this part of why the PO kicks the Angels out of heaven? Even though they and the PO both independently love humanity?

Not to get hung up on particular word, but regarding the 'Perinheri' book, one thing that bugged me was that it describes the crimson moon turning around to reveal a 'horrified' eye, not 'horrifying'. Assuming this is Ronova, what the heck did she witness that made her audibly gasp, overstep her authority and consequently get punished?
@kirittv3 күн бұрын
What isn't being stated here is that the life or death that was needed must meet the unsaid requirement that the death of the person must be of the same gravitas. The lord of the night says of Mavuika how her soul her fire is powerful and can sustain her only for so long. Mavuika says for 200-300 years. The captain's life force or whatever you wanna call it is immortalised by Ronova hence it being a suitable if not a greater substitute to Mavuika's soul. That to me is what i gathered by the words Citlali says when saying only Mavuika can offer this death. Lastly, the person also had to come to terms with death itself. I think that was another requirement not specifically outlined. Sidenote. Go update yourself with the snezhnaya diplomats in Mondstat they have very cool dialogue.
@raikakuu3 күн бұрын
Summary of the rules: 1. When you use Ronova's authority, death is demanded back not as price but as a rule. 2. The manner of death is not important, only that it happens. 3. The user of the borrowed authority doesn't have to be the one that dies, as long as the value of their lives are the same (Citlali mistook it as only mavuika being able to since it was the only option the Lord of the Night gave at the time before Capitano made the proposal) Capitano's Plan: 1. Merge with the Lord of the Night, acting as the sacrifice 2. Use the curse of immortality to force Ronova to abandon one rule or trigger a world ending paradox. Outcome: Capitano merged with the Lord of the Night. He is now braindead, but his immortality still exists and is currently being shared with the Lord of the Night. Interesting point: Ronova upholding the curse was the best outcome since if the immortality was canceled, the sacrifice wouldn't have been a permanent solution.

that desc is worthless lol. so far as we understand ronova gave up "death" as part of her deal with xbalanque, so she gave up one of her rules which is what the captain wanted
@stanysk3 күн бұрын
@@DawitsLookingforEmilia As I understand it, she didn't give up on the rule, only that curse of immortality has higher priority, so he is still considered a sacrifice, but won't die as a result. Otherwise it doesn't make sense, why giving up on the rule instead of just proclaiming him not being an alternative to Mavuika and demanding her death instead?
@ashVGF2 күн бұрын
@@DawitsLookingforEmilia you mentioned your making another video on it in the desc so that was nice haha. Are you saying giving up death was part of the deal with Xbalanque? My interpretation is by dropping the rule of death, the paradox is avoided. He's alive and dead at the same time after, which is fine. The rule of death required *only* death but now that rule isn't applied. It seems the paradox is with the rules rather than the Captain's actual actions. This way, the motivation for dropping the rule of death makes sense (avoid the paradox), else she could've just kept both rules.
