played around with that quite a bit as I got an A4 + AR hooked up to the live. You can also change patterns on the elektron machines if you add an extra track per sequence on the live with the program ch in channel you define in the elektron midi settings, and add a program ch number for the pattern you want it to jump to. Nowhere to be found in the elektron manual but bank A1-A16 are program change values 0-15 and so on.

ok. i have a deepmind 12 synth. I want to hook it up via midi cable, instead of audio out, headphone jack. Not sure of how to do this effectively . Not sure of settings on mpc live or the deepmind 12. maybe someone knows before I call deepmind 12 support. thanks

Question. How do the banks work with the midi outs? Example can you assign 16 pads to go through midi out 1 to 16 different machines while assigning bank two to midi out two to an additional 16 machines simultaneously?

This is an excellent video! Unfortunately, I am experiencing some issues correlating the midi channels from my MPC Live to my external synth. When I change midi channels in the MPC Live, it doesn't change the sounds on my synth, it only changes sounds when I use the Program change. Is this a manufacturer defect on the MPC????

Would you happen to know how to use MPC live in standalone mode into logic? I got an M-Audio Midisport 2x2 to try and run my MPC via Midi into a single track in logic so I can record whatever I'm doing from my MPC into logic. I don't really use plug ins or VSTs so thats why I'm not just doing it in controller mode via the USB cord it comes with.

@@JAdeWii_ but that only allows you access to the first channel of the Volca. Whatever you have that first step on the Volca set to you can play on the Live. Is there a way to map it out or even better be able to record what’s playing on the Volca into the sequencer on the Live? That’s what I’d really like to be able to do but don’t know how. I can record what’s coming out the Volca into the sampler or looper easily but I want it to record right onto the sequencer. Is that possible?

How about a video using the mpk mini in Standalone Mode ? Cant find anybody doing it or showing how record simultaneously w created drum patterns anywhere. All th they do is plug the the USB and say there it is SMH. Help us all out PLEASE.

Here's one for you, say I have 3 internal programmes loaded up into 3 different tracks, drums/keyboard/bass. I'm trying to play the piano with an external controller, 88 note SL88 (say track 2), at the same time I'd like to play or hit the pads to trigger the drum programme (say track 1). At the moment, the SL88 is triggering the drums and the piano, and I can't see anywhere where I can specify that the piano should only be triggered by the external SL88 and not the internal pads (only had Live for a few days). Do you know how to work this out? If they were external synths, as in your video, I understand how to do it and I can see the different midi channels you can assign to each track as you described but not with internal sounds. Steve

Nice video! Still need to get at that part of creating :P Im stuck at finding out how to make my midi keyboard have the volume i want. Like I make a beat with the mpc, then i want to control the native instruments on it with a midi keyboard but the sound is in very low volume? What am I missing?

Sorry, I haven't used the MPC live in over 2 years. But MIDI doesn't control volume unless youve ccd it. so youll have to adjust your vst volume on the computer. hope that helps!

Hello, this is maybe stupid question about your setup, but are all of those connected to mixer or something? Cause it seems that when i try to do something like this with my own mpc live notes come to grid, but i get no sound from mpc.

MasaTheSlayer no such thing. And yes, MIDI will only give you data, you need to send sound to either a mixer or into my mpc input

Hey good video, but one question I think you can answer but I haven't found elsewhere: right now I have a midi controller midi out->midi in on MPC live. Then, I have MPC live midi out -> midi in on hardware synth. The audio output on my external synth is going into the MPC live audio input. When I play on the midi controller, it sends midi to the external synth just like I'd expect. But in order to hear that external synth, I need to have the monitor on in an audio track in the MPC. And when I turn the monitor on and then switch to my MIDI track, when I play a key on the controller it seems to send a DOUBLE signal to the synth, and it plays two for every note I play and sustains the note until I cut it off with the STOP button. It's worth noting that when I do this but play with the pads, this doesn't happen. Is there a way (in standalone mode) I can record midi data into the MPC via the controller that then sends to the external synth, and then gets recorded? Or, at the very least, MIDI data that I can hear on the external synth while I'm playing (without other equipment)?

Very good video. I have a question. I am a keyboardist and I play one man shows. I use the rhythms of my keyboard korg PA 50. I want to use sample loops with my keyboard's rhythm. I want to upload different samples on the 16 pads of Mpc live, and want to control start/stop from my keyboard via midi. The sample loops should be played in cycle mode and shouldn't stop unless I stop it from my keyboard''s start/stop button. While playing I want to change the variation of rhythms from the 16 pads of Mpc live in one project. Is it possible to do in Mpc live? I've tried a lot but couldn't do it now I am thinking to return the device. Can you please help me? Thanks.

Hmmm. I’m not sure but that def gave me a big idea. If you connect from the Volca headphone into the MPC line in you can record into the looper sampler but I wonder if I connect through midi and the line in will it let me into the sequencer? Def gonna try this.

Two things to note: 0) This is a pretty shallow "midi tutorial". I clicked this at least expecting it to cover syncing external devices... you know, the "dawless" way of doing things. Using the MPC as the midi brain but also utilizing the sequencers on your individual synthesizers and keyboards and syncing them to the MPC midi clock. Or in my case I am attempted to sync the MPC midi clock to the clock in my SP1200. 1) The MPC Live is a DAW, it just happens to have a custom chassis / controller but it also runs in a general computer. It's running on Linux in the MPC Live.

GOTTA MAKE SURE THAT THE POWER CORDS TO EACH DEVICE ARE PLUGGED INTO THE WALL, AND DONT USE THE USB'S, USE REGULAR MIDI IN MIDI OUT CABLES...MPC IS THE CENTER HUB.
