Thousand Sons did eventually side with Horus but in the meantime they started out loyal. Magnus tried to warn the Emperor of Horus's betrayal but the Emperor didn't believe him and sent Leman Russ to capture him for his crimes. Horus convinced Leman Russ to kills Magnus. When the Space Wolves descended on Prospero Magnus felt betrayed and took himself, his legion, and his city into the Eye of Terror after a lengthy battle.
