The quick answer to your Drukhari question is soon after Slaanesh was born they came up with a way to turn others pain and torture into a sort of 'soul energy barrier' So the sadism is to 'charge their battery (soul)' generating shielding. Warding against Slaanesh's claim to them.

Also they hide in the Webway, which besides being a transport network/alternate dimension, also acts as a shield from the Warp.

i tried to play vanilla dow soulstorm earlier. the AI seems either hyper aggressive or completely passive. rather spoiled it.
