Head shrinking is a practice of certain tribal people in South America. The guy with the shrunken head in the movie was a hunter that fell afoul of one of said people. The reality would be that his head would have been severed first, but having it shrunken and still attached to the body is funnier.

19:24 Winona was caught in-person and on-tape attempting to shoplift an absurd amount of items from a store in 2004. To me, it was clear she wasn’t doing well because her actions were obvious and senseless, and she spent several years (I think about 6) outside of Hollywood to go to her old home and live with her family. I don’t know if it was ever confirmed that she had any kind of “problems” but she seemed to get the rest that she needed, returning in 2010 to have a supporting role in Black Swan.

I've got a Michael Keaton movie for you. His first movie, I think, was Night Shift and he play a funny guy with lots of bad ideas. He wasn't considered the big name actor for that movie but it is probably what got him recognized. The leads for the movie were Henry Winkler (Fronzie of Happy Days) and Shelly Long (Diane from Cheers). You might also like Pacific Heights. It is a serious movie though and again he isn't the lead but the antagonist. Trivia: Michael Keaton's real name is Michael Douglas. The other Michael Douglas is the son Kirk Douglas and was already working in Hollywood so Michael Keaton used by the Beetlejuice actor.

Catherine O'Hara is the best! ❤She was one of the original members of SCTV, along with John Candy and Rick Moranis. Winona did get arrested once for shoplifting, and her defense was that she had been prescribed some bad drugs. And as a matter of fact, the doctor did turn out to be a quack and his license was revoked. She was sentenced and did her punishment. The actor who played her dad though, Jefferey Jones... ai yai yai, maybe we better not talk about him. But there's a big, fat sex offender reason he's not in the sequel. It's been nice seeing Winona and Catherine together again for the press interviews, along with Jenna Ortega. They seem like unusually nice, level-headed people, for Hollywood.

Michael Keaton has three movies that a lot of people aren’t familiar with but ones I saw in the theatre back in the day, and really enjoyed: Night Shift (1982), Johnny Dangerously (1984), and Pacific Heights (1990). The first two films are comedies and his roles are very different from each other; they show off some of his comic range, but the third film is a serious thriller, and Keaton plays the bad guy. He is surprisingly disturbing as a villain; such a great actor. If you’re a Keaton fan, check them out. Thanks for making videos eh.

1:15 "I can't believe he picked him up like he's not poisonous." If it is poisonous, then there won't be a problem unless he eats the spider. You have to eat or drink poisonous things to be harmed by them. Maybe you meant "venomous"? Yes, if that's a venomous spider it could bite him and inject its venom. Maybe he knows it's not venomous, or at least not dangerous.

Well the majority of spiders ARE venomous, just that most either can't pierce human skin with their fangs, or the venom is relatively harmless to humans. (as opposed to their usually insect prey)

I've seen 3 ghosts in my life: 1. Scottish castle converted to a hotel. It was up around the Highlands. 2. Random guy (cool, though) in a 100 year old house I bought. He thought he still lived there. 3. My late wife peeked around a corner in our place and told me, "Go to bed, stoopid." It was something we'd tell each other often.

10:22 forwards, I was hoping that she would have said "He does not play well with others." instead of "He does not work well with others", but seeing as how Beetlejuice hadn't been really formally introduced at this point, setting Beetlejuice up as being utterly undesirable and dangerous is what makes Michael Keaton's performance so funny. You expect a dark, foreboding, spirt of the afterlife but end up with, well... Beetlejuice. Also, the "doesn't wok well with people" is a joke in itself, as if Beetlejuice was simply a reclusive, socially awkward spirit in the afterlife that couldn't maintain an honest afterlife job to save his already deceased life.. Great writing.

I'm writing that my name is Josh and i'm writing that i've been reading online that Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will have an official 4K HD digital release on Tuesday October 8, 2024. the digital release will also include special features including a second version of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice with an audio commentary by Tim Burton. this means that everybody at home can do first time watching videos for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice beginning on Tuesday October 8, 2024. i can also confirm that there won't be deleted or extended scenes to be included on the official 4K Bluray and DVD release on Tuesday November 19, 2024. that's the same day the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice becomes available to stream on MAX.

125 years would be how long they'd be confined to their house. The sequel retconned that of course, and the Maitlands aren't in it.

It's kinda poetic that you're asking so many questions about the specifics when the main running joke in the movie was that the afterlife is a tedious bureaucracy with many pointless rules. XD

10:33 actually you saw BG early on but not his face. He was the one reading the dead newspaper where it showed WELCOME to the newly dead. So that was his first introductiom but kept him a mystery.14:25 Michael Keaton was also Batman in the 1989 Batman. However that is not the first Batmam movie that many reactors think is. The first Batman was Adam West in 1966 Batman. 14:45 this is why the receptionist said she would not have had her "little accident". If you notice all the dead working in the place they went to through the door were all "self-deleted" people. The receptionist with her slit wrists, the flat guy was run over, probably jumped in front of a truck (notice the tire marks on his body), their case worker even slitting her own throat (notice the smoke coming out of her neck). Also the guy delivering papers hung himself.

Then they had a movie a couple years later and they were light green skinned. Blew our minds. Love your reactions Dawn, don't ever change heh heh.

@@DawnMarieX Yes, he had directed PeeWee’s Big Adventure three years earlier. And he had pitched his idea for Batman starring Michael Keaton to Warner Brothers in 1987, but they wanted him to do one more movie first, and it was this movie that convinced the studio executives to green light Batman with him directing, and Michael Keaton in the title role.

It seems funny that you didn't know Michael Keaton as a comedic actor. Before he did Batman, that's all he did and got his start in stand up. He did a bunch of comedies in the early and mid 80's, but most haven't aged well. He was probably best known for Mr. Mom which is sort of a dramedy. My personal favorite, which I feel has held up better is "Dream Team". Keaton plays a mental patient and along with some fiends gets lost on a field trip to a baseball game and gets in trouble with a gang after witnessing a shooting.

1. Its funny that the movie is named after Beetlejuice but he's on screen for less than 20min 2. In the animated series its revealed that one of his weaknesses(Besides his name) is tricking him into splitting himself into pieces. Each part of his body has a mind of its own while separated and while talking to his floating Brain, Lydia's learns that Beetlejuice is actually powerful enough to conquer the entire Netherworld. He just doesn't feel like it and prefers to annoy and prank his fellow Netherworld residents . They consider him a pest

Tim Burton doesn't usually do the writing for his movies...he only really wrote the Nightmare Before Christmas children's book that the movie was based on and the Oyster Boy poetry book as far as I know....the writers that came along before Burton had a much more gruesome, darker horror movie idea for Beetlejuice before Tim Burton got involved.

Basically, the couple at the beginning of the movie die and somehow are stuck in limbo because of some unfinished business they can’t move on and when new people move into the house the dead ghost couple don’t like the new people because the new people want change the house so it’s unrecognisable And Beetlejuice is a ghost who scares away the living and in the end the the ghosts and the new owners of the house learn to live with each other

I think the reason why Beetlejuice's name is spelt as Betelgeuse is because when he was banished, he was cursed to never be able to say his own name nor can he spell it out in writing correctly so he spelled it out as Betelgeuse (which is pretty close to his actual name) in hopes that someone would get it right.
