Absolutely amazing cover. I would go as far as to say flawless. The slide fits into the sound perfectly and really compliments/accentuates the atmosphere.

The slide was such a unique approach to this cover. I actually prefer it to the original. Sounds fresh.

You ever consider making videos just talking about guitar? I think me and a lot of people like reading your descriptions and would be interested in some sort of open ended discussion type videos even if it's rambling haha

Yeah, no doubt.

I thought about it a lot, even said in a few descriptions, what plans I have for youtube, but ulimately, I decided against it. I just want to make music. And as long as I'm not a professional musician I don't see a point in doing that. I know, kind of a dick move and egotistical, but this is my personal time and making videos just takes up too much of it. Which is why I currently do it the way I do it, boring playthroughs with long descriptions for people who are really interested in it. Which is also something I really like. I never thought my descriptions would be that well received. I like the format though. That way I don't force them or my opinion on people, and it's like a bonus for those who are just interested in me or my playing or just some weird tidbits.

I love reading your descriptions, man. I've always struggled with insecurity/obsession with guitar, musicianship and identity, and reading about how you feel and how you approach music is really inspiring to me. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and of course your ludicrous guitar skills, keep at it bro!

enjoying the direction of your channel, keep it up!!
@KevinHeiderich4 жыл бұрын
Haha thanks, out of curiosity, what direction is that? After trying out a few things with multi-camera stuff and higher production values I went back to what my channel was always about, just with a better camera. So plain "boring" single camera videos. Didn't make much difference, those edited videos, and I now think those simple videos are exactly the reason I got those subscribers over the years. Why not stick to that. It's actually better for me, and with those descriptions I thought about adding something else to it :)

When you trem pick, how far is the underside of your picking wrist from the body of the guitar?
@KevinHeiderich4 жыл бұрын
I don't know if understand this question correctly, but if I do then it is actually pretty far away from the body compared to other players. All motion comes from the wrist in my playing and the most "natural" and comfortable way of doing that is by having it further away, so I have an angle. For palm muting it's that much but for open notes it's quite noticable. You can see it in videos where I have a side view of my playing, like the video I just uploaded today, of The Black Dahlia Murders "Black Valor".
@Knosferatu4 жыл бұрын
Amazing. What picks/plectrums do you use? Max grip?
@KevinHeiderich4 жыл бұрын
Not anymore, I use my current regular picks, which are the Jazz III White 0.73 Those with 0.88 thickness were my main picks for a few years now, and I just changed to 0.73 because I think it sounds better in combination with all the hybrid picking I've been doing lately.

Great, now I want a slide... But higher action, aaaa, what a dilemma
@KevinHeiderich4 жыл бұрын
You don't have to go too high. Well, depends on what you're used to. I've played some shredder guitars that had ridiculous low action, and those people had some trouble playing my guitar. But the action is actually pretty low on that RG350. As low as slide playing, comfortable shredding and a good tone allows it. So on the high e string, slide playing is already quite difficult, because the action is almost too low for it. I raised it a few weeks back. But my main phrasing strings for slide are the G and B string, especially the B string. Though lately I do more on the lower strings. But it's different on those strings, you're getting a lot more noise through the slide. Anyway, I hope this will not be my last slide video :)

You're making me a fan of black metal. Never heard any good Black metal until I saw your cover of DWEF.. please, show me more 🤤
@KevinHeiderich4 жыл бұрын
Probably because I don't listen to black metal haha. So if I do then those bands are "special" for me. Those black metal influences were actually the reason I liked Vale Of Pnaths latest EP so much. I'm pretty tired of tech death and that was a nice change in variaton
