Love the card and I loved your comments about social media behaviour. I have never understood why people have to leave negative comments. If you don’t like something that was on a video, turn it off and don’t watch their channel! I appreciate anyone brave enough to put their content out for the public to see whether it’s on a blog, video or just pics. To people who do that, thank you very much from a techno idiot who can’t figure out how to do those things!

The card is really adorable❤ I appreciate your wise and well-spoken thoughts about social media, and agree 100%. We are responsible for our words. The Bible says we are to build one another up; otherwise, be silent. Your words today definitely built up and encouraged while also clearly giving wise advice. Thank you!❤

Everything you have said is so needed and spot on! We are watching you,Kelly, GinaK whoever to learn and negative comments are so uncalled for. It’s rude. “ if you can’t say something nice don’t say anything at all”. Thumper wisdom 😊 As for me I love the chit chat and the life stories! You and Kelly are so talented and I’ve learned so much from both of you. I try very hard to remember when I’m using my markers and pencils. I’m better with the pencils at the moment. Alcohol markers are a real learning cure for me but hey I’m 70 an old dog trying to learn new tricks😂. Rock on ladies, I love all the content. I always say if you don’t like it skip ahead in the video. God bless you 😊

Thank you! You should never stop trying to learn and do what you love! Pencils are beautiful, but definitely my weakest medium. So I’m sure you could teach me a thing or two in that arena! 😉

Dawn, I love your tutorials...you make these stunning cards look so easy to make!! I agree with you.. we shouldn't crush someone's creativity. For many of us ,it's more than just a hobby- it helps our mental health ! Like Tim Holtz says : If you don't have something nice to say, then find it. Every person has their own style, if it's not your jam, move on! Kindness really does matter!

I think most presenters are very professional and have probably had a huge learning curve to get their videos up on KZbin. I really appreciate that- time spent shooting , editing uploading and as you said for free. I realised quite some time ago that I dislike lives. Firstly I’m in a completely different Timezone to most people in the norther hemisphere so I mostly watch on replay and get annoyed that I’m watching paint dry! But I would never ever say that. I can fast forward though those bits I don’t like. I try to appreciate with a thumbs up and a comment . Thanks you for sharing your views on this and your creativity as a crafter is amazing😊

Dawn, your card is absolutely fabulous!!! You did an awesome job channeling Kelly, but I also have to say MIC DROP on your discussion about being kind!!! It was spot on and sadly needed as there have been some unkind things said to amazing content creators! Great job on explaining the different platforms to enable people to choose what fits them best! As for me, I'm here for all of it! ♥

Dawn, I love the way your card turned out. It looks fantastic. I also enjoyed, and 100% agree with, your TED talk. I have never understood why people leave horrible, nasty comments on any platform in social media. Then again, I don’t understand the Karen/Kevin’s of the world either. I’m not sure what happened, but know that I appreciate you and your content very much. You are endlessly talented and I always learn so much from your videos. Thank you.

I totally agree on the social media bit, and my opinion is .....if you can't say something nice, dont say anything at all!! If you don't like something MOVE on... don't comment, don't thumbs down, just move on. If we all liked the same things & learned the same way the world would be very boring!!! TYFS

I was taught manners as a young child - and when it comes to PERSONAL comments, here are the questions you ask yourself BEFORE you open your mouth: what you are about to say, is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary? If you can't say yes to all three, DON'T say it! This isn't rocket science, but I really think everyone believes they have an a G-d given right to criticize and offer opinions about others because they themselves are so smart and so special! There seems to be no respect for the differences among our cultures AND the opinions of OTHER ppl. Enjoyed this and your work is gorgeous. OTH, I'm NOT going to do all that coloring - but you make it look easy! TFS.

Great video and chat subject. It has always amazed me when reading comments, especially nasty ones we the viewer have the power to turn off if we aren't enjoying the video for whatever reason. As previously written 'if you can't say something nice don't say anything'. The advice on where to look for appropriate styles of video was perfect. I actually hit play as I thought the colouring looked very Kelly like😂, you are both very very talented. Ex

Sea sponge for texture!! Oh! My! Word! I use it with watercolour and never ever thought to use it with inks like that - totally brilliant! Thank you, Dawn! 🤗♥️❣️👏🏻 I have watched Kelly ever since my friend, Theresa Petermann, referred me to her for alcohol marker tutorial. She's pretty amazing, as are you! 🤩 I love the way you've used the die cut trash as a stencil for building your scene more fully - that's pretty brilliant too. Thank you. 😍 Unfortunately, today's world has become less tolerant overall but, because of the distance and relative anonymity of social media, it's become pretty well grounded. We can pray your thoughtful commentary will land where needed. 🙏🏻💙🤗

Thank you so much for those very kind words! ❤ And you summed it up perfectly, respect. We used to start from a stance of giving respect until someone lost it. Wow those people leaving comments just "don't get it" when it comes to the lives. Good thing you explained it to them, some people think everything revolves around they way they expect it and don't realize they need to do a little bit of work to figure out what fits them. I think Kelly should be proud of your impression of her, Dawn! :) I love how your card came out, & the crafty chat was right on point. You are a lot less finger-waggy than I am, for sure. LOL It really gets to me how rude people can be, not only to creators, but sometimes to commenters! I recently called out a woman on another crafter's video who left the rudest replies on two different comments. And yes, I left some positivity there, as well. :) Sometimes I can manage to bite my fingers (as opposed to biting my tongue, which I don't type with), but other times, I just can't leave it. As I said, you are probably much nicer than I am, even though I try not to counter rudeness with rudeness. I do tend to be direct, though. Anyway, thank you for all you do, for the content you create, & just for being who & how you are! Another crafter I like is Nichol Spohr. I especially love how proud & excited she gets about her work. If she thinks something looks good or went well, she is not afraid to say so. No hemming or hawing or emphasizing her mistakes. Although she will point out things she feels were poor decisions & what she would do differently. Like you, she seems to like to emphasize teaching. And she does do good work! Just wanted to give her a shout-out, in case any of your other viewers haven't found her. Thank you for sharing your artistry, Dawn. Take care, & have an awesome day! :)

I’ve been really enjoying your videos for the last couple of months even though my patience is about a tenth yours and the things you make easy are really hard for me! I love your style and the details you add to your cards. You and Penny Black’s Jill PB&J videos convince me I can enjoy watercolor but I cannot! (yet). Re: comments, I think people forget that not everything is meant for them, and they don’t need to express that. The algorithm doesn’t care and only wants engagement/time in the app, so it sometimes shows things to the wrong people. All I say to myself is “this isn’t meant for me” and scroll on by.

You always make my day by teaching me new techniques or things I might not of thought of by myself. As far as social media I believe you should hold yourself accountable for your actions, if you wouldn’t say it to someone’s face why on earth would you say it’s at all. Eh, but I am older and the worlds different now, however, if you wouldn’t say it to your own mama perhaps you shouldn’t say it at all.

Love this card!! Great job of coloring and explaining. I've been stamping for over 20 years but I have never heard of treating the cardstock. Please explain that

Thanks! In regards to heat embossing, treating the cardstock usually refers to using an anti-static powder tool or bag on the cardstock before stamping. It keeps the embossing powder from sticking in stray areas due to static electricity or oils from finger prints and such. 😉

Very cute card I was glad you added corn stalks because it was looking pretty sparse. I have watched Kelly for years now and really enjoy her style and story time. She is always talking about you but this is the first time I have watched one of your videos. I really enjoyed it

That is the cutest card and so well coloured. I only found out about your channel from watching Kelly's videos. I want to say that you both have inspired me and after I watched you colour the barrels I had to get myself some sea sponge. Do you dampen the sea sponge each time or do your let them dry out and use them dry? Thanks for the great video!

So glad to hear that! I don’t dampen the sponge…I use it dry. I’m also lazy and only wash it when absolutely necessary.

Great card and thanks for showing great tips along the way, including the use of the negative to create more stalks in the background. Kudos as well for speaking regarding the power of words (and what the different platforms do best).🌺

Love this card. I wouldn’t have ever thought to use the negative die cut as a stencil with copics. I might have done ink blending but never thought about copics.

Hi have I missed which cardstock you prefer for blending? I know this is a boring detail, but I get such different results depending and I can’t think of a better source for a preference! Love your work and instruction TYSM!

I appreciate the lecture. It puts me in my place as a disabled person for whom disability access is a problem in all the ways you mention but especially in the ways where you talk about community being available. Thank you. I’m opting out of the “crafting community”. It’s less distressing than being told how I might access community in such a manner.

I hope it didn’t come across as a lecture, per se, just a reminder. We all have different desires in what we want, and that is completely OK! That’s why it’s so wonderful that we have so many different formats to consume and receive content. I enjoy your comments and wit, and would hate to have you leave. You’d be missed! ❤

@@dawnwoleslagle9561 actually it came across as “you can do this, it’s easy for me”. I’ve been crying ever since and I’ve withdrawn from every craft group and I’ve been unfollowing craft people. You know why I can’t watch lives? because I can’t read the text so there are conversations I can’t follow. And I can’t put on a live in the craft room and follow along while I craft because I can’t see ANYTHING, I’m solely relying on audio if I’m not sitting right over my ipad on the couch. I struggle to craft. I REALLY struggle. My husband and I are looking at magnifiers and stuff that might make it easier. Then you come along and say “don’t you dare critique trends in crafting” while also saying “this is easy for me and for nondisabled people so you should do X if you want Y’ Well I want community, I try bloody hard. But I’m not welcome because I’m disabled. I’m vision imapired - see my insta photos of my seeing eye dog - and I’m on the autism spectrum so a talking head directly facing the screen talking at me is really confronting and uncomfortable. But you’ve made it clear the crafting “community” is not for me. Thanks. I’ve wasted 4 years trying to be part of the community and I’ll stop now.

I am truly sorry that I made you feel that way. I will take responsibility for how I made you feel. Please know that my commentary was not aimed at you or those with accessibility issues. In fact, as I type this, my husband is researching options to connect his audio from conference zooms directly to his hearing aids. I simply wanted to point out that there are a lot of different formats to provide for different desires - and to make sure that you are choosing the format that best fits you. It doesn’t sound like this applies to you. I do honestly look forward to your visits and comments, and feel like you are part of this community. I truly hope that you will reconsider. And if I have irreparably damaged this community for you, please don’t let that taint other crafty communities for you. 💞

@@dawnwoleslagle9561 You were very clear. You didn’t like my criticism of a TREND on Stamp Junkies so you’re lecturing me here. Your husband having a hearing impairment does not excuse you nor does it make me feel at all welcome in your closed community.
