This is day 1 of the 24th anniversary of the Tamiami International Orchid Show and Expo. This amazing gathering of amazing orchid vendors takes place every year at the Tamiami Dade County Fair Grounds in Miami, Florida. Ive been visiting this show since the beginning. I’ve seen it’s immense growth. Every year there is something extra and better. This year did not disappoint. Their were vendors sand growers from Germany, Thailand, Philippines, Jamaica, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Venezuela, Japan, Vietnam, and the list goes on and on. It’s truly a magical place for orchids. And that’s not all. They have other exotics like Aroids of all kinds. I live right now the road from Plantio La Orquidea and just recently purchased a Schomburgkia lueddemanii oscura. I can’t wait till it’s big enough to bloom. I have never been to an Orchid show and now I really want to attend one in the future. Thank you for the video.

Lucky you! Planteó is one of my favorites. I’ve yet to visit. They will have an open house this month. Unfortunately I may not be able to go because I e already committed to be at the Krull Smith grand un ailing if their new showroom plus the orchid fair they are having. Perhaps you can drive to Apopka on November 4-5. It’s gonna be spectacular. You wouldn’t want to miss that event. Congratulations on your new Schomburkia. They are one of the best orchids to keep if you have the space. They do get massive. Hope to see you in Apopka. 🤗💚

These shows are really unique. We’re very lucky to have them in Florida. Florida has been very involved in orchids for over 100 years. It never really died down. Yet it’s grown more and more. Now with KZbinrs announcing the shows, it’s increased a huge popularity for the events. I don’t see it slowing down at all. 💚

The cones are sold at RF Orchids and Banjong Orchids. The extra large ones were only sold by Ben at Banjong. But he stopped selling the extra large ones due to shipping issues. The clay would crack easy during transport, costing him lots of money.

Nelson did you know that you were standing beside Mr. Claude Hamilton from Hamlyn Orchids, who is Phillip from Bredrens Orchid’s father? He has such an unassuming personality. In the final section of your video you were talking to Carlos from Sunset Valley Orchids and I noticed the person standing beside you or you were standing beside him I should say, that was him in a grey sweater. 😊 Great video, well presented and thank you for sharing.
