Well, you're on your way. I had little service at TOG too. This brings back some awesome memories. Hang tough. You'll be tired and sore for a few weeks, then you will get that feeling we call hiker legs! It is obvious when it comes! Slow and steady... the miles will come. Try to increase miles a few every other day and soon you will hit your desired mark... Take time to really listen and look! It is worth it. Don't worry about Maine..... it's not going anywhere!!! Godspeed and keep your feet warm and dry as possible!!! Hydrate!!!! But above all else, be quiet, stand still and become one with the Trail!!!!

Congrats on taking that first step! Day one baby! No, you're not going to die even when you're cold, wet and hungry. I'm a big believer it's the journey that teaches you a lot about your destination. You have hours and hours of conversation and camp fires ahead of you. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Jeff! When I talked to other hikers, it appears as if I was about normal. Most of us cut our weight down significantly by the time we got to TOG. My pack is now down to 32#. Cut out 6# of weight and that is with food and water.

This is awesome, your adventure has begun. I remember Hawk Mountain Camp Ground, long way to the water after hiking!! Even though I live in Florida, I grew up in W. Lafayette (Go Boilermakers). I am starting back again on 1 April where I left off in Northern VA. Planning on Flip Flopping so maybe we will run into each other. Stay strong and Hike on!!

Like others, I was hoping to see your first vid. Congrats on getting started. Your pack is 10 lbs too heavy, but it looks like you move good with it. Your upper thigh muscles will be sore in the morning! Start eating mass quantities of food, and that will dump 5 pounds, lol. I smiled when you called your hike an adventure, you couldn't be more right. Moving on up. And down. Lather, rinse, repeat.

You were a star before getting on the trail. 👍🏼 Day 1 in the book with over 7.5 miles. Watch out for the dangerous 3 R (Rattlesnakes, Rocks, and Roots). The roots are the to make you trip and fall. Take your time and be safe. Oh.... we your fans will be looking forward to the next video.🤢

Glad you made it out and don't worry about meeting people as they will flock to you in the next week. Hope you have a great hike and never surrender eh 🇨🇦

So far so good. but if your pack was really 38.5, as we former military guys would say, "You're humpin' too much s*&^ troop!" :-). You'll get it down to where you want it as you go along. I wouldn't worry right now about anything except getting to the next shelter area. Your miles will come, your pack will be trimmed down by the stuff you're not using, and your hiker legs will kick in. Like Highlander58 said, "Don't worry about Maine, it isn't going anywhere." Sage words. Cheers! DonP
