Hey Derek. Enjoyed ypur vid. My first time lookin at your stuff. I love your attitude and your approach to the trip. You seem quite content while you are out. Fair play for pushing yourself out that door. It's not always easy to do but hopefully its worth it when you do. Wild camping is a bit of a lucky dip sometimes. My experiences have been good 98% of the time however that 2% makes you wary and I'd do exactly what you did in checking before entering an area to camp that no-one has seen me. I look forward to your videos. They're always enlightening and enjoyable.

@@DarthSkynet Beautiful. That's by far my fav route in Ireland. FYI I hiked that a few years ago and then ended up walking all the way around ireland (all the videos are on YT). maybe you should do that too haha
@DarthSkynet2 жыл бұрын
@@DerekCullenOutdoors I watched the entire trip, that's what inspired me to do the route I'm doing. Just need to figure out what back roads to take from Glenbeigh to Tralee and onwards. I'm aiming to end up on inish mor at some point. Might head around the rest of Ireland, who knows, all I know is I'm going to take each day as it comes.
@DerekCullenOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
@@DarthSkynet I think you've only one (maybe 2) option from Glenbeigh. It's a crappy road to walk to be honest. I followed that same road but went toward Inch beach and even that road was crappy. You'll either follow the main road to Tralee or take the secondary road that goes up past Laharn Viewpoint. I've never been up that way but that's the road I'd take as the other one will be very busy :) Thanks mate
@andrewcolley24602 жыл бұрын
I know that sensation well! Even after the anticipation of the wait for an "adventure" (even if that's just a day's hiking), when the time finally comes to start, I always feel that anxious pang to turn around and go home. I'm (almost) always glad when I come to the end of the journey though for having seen it through, even if I then feel melancholy that the adventure is over!

Thanks a lot Kerrie. I bought the wooden cup online - it's a scandanavian design and I don't like drinking from plastic cups etc. It's in my kit because it was the only cup I had and not sure whether I'll carry it anymore because I can drop a few items off in the house today before continuing the trip :)

I'm wondering what you do when it's raining and you have to erect the tent or pack it up without the mesh getting wet? I have the Jack wolfskin gossamer ii tent, and its inner is all mesh. I'm wondering if you've any tips for getting that up in the rain? Thank you.
