it still baffles me how fast they grow up, from first day being a tiny pink bean to being suffecient happy hamster in just two weeks. I just love that toddler phase where mom tries her best to keep them at home but they are adventurous and even tho still half blind they run from the nest to roam the area and their big heads still cant be kept high and they shiver on those weak legs and wheak and are just so adorable

From the constant nutrition and safety to the creative enclosures, these hams were really given the best upbringing. They're different from baby guinea pigs. Baby guinea pigs take more time to be born, but they're already good to go from day one, completely furred, eating grass and popcorning. It's amazing.

Its nice to see a mom hamster raise and protect her baby's instead of just eating them like mine always did when I was a child. I'm aware stress to the mother is a huge factor, which I'm sure we could have mitigated better. But yeah, was a pretty gnarly life lesson to a 7 y/o.
