Just wanted to say thank you for such great videos of the SM500!! I live in NW Georgia and never heard of this route, but after watching these videos I knew I had to do it. Your videos alone inspired me to buy another motorcycle and start planning the trip for this fall! Thanks!!!

I'm only about 2/3rds of the way through this video, but I absolutely love this video, and can't wait to watch the other ones. The chill music, beautiful scenery, and easy tone of your voice make this easy to just zone out to. Really makes me want to get a CT125 or a Yamaha TW200.

Do not think its wise to use the CT for traveling. If you wish to use a small bike to travel use the TW200. The only issue with that bike is long term use on the carburetor and if you want to fiddle with that issue. I was considering it but I have something in a larger form factor that is similar and I like the Honda nostalgia of the CT for around town.

Excellent episode and I'm ass backwards. I watched this one episode AFTER #2 & #3 and watching your super awesome EPIC TAT ADVENTURE. I'm actually glad I waited to watch this as it gave me my Ang & Pow fix. Your personalities and style are both so down to earth and genuine it makes it a pleasure to watch your content even more. Thank you both 👍👍

Gotta say from the First vid of yours I watched I was hooked on your camera work, audio & narration. PLEASE Don't change a thing. You will NEVER satisfy Everyone. Keep doing what you meant to do when you started your channel. 95% of the people Bitchin about language you'll Never Meet & they Probably didn't have Anything Nice to say about the Beautiful Scenery & Adventure you are sharing with them. Keep up the Great Work & Thanks for Sharing these Adventures with US. Even if a bad word slips out. Just SAD that people will complain & Deny children the Opportunity to see such Majestic Beauty. Instead of complaining they should take advantage of words being said & Teach their children & why they THINK it shouldn't be used instead of Sheltering them.

That’s an awesome ride and story. It’s actually very cool to hear it because it’s SOOO close to mine and probably many others. The bands I was in didn’t have the popularity that yours did. My 15 minutes of fame was opening for Johnny Paycheck in the early 90s. Then marriage and children came into play. Lots of calls to play with other groups but the fun became incredibly exhausting work and I was already working a full time construction job. I bought a Honda Monkey about 3 months ago. Loving the little thing. Anyway, gonna watch the other two videos now. Ride on!! 🏍💨

Have fun while you can life does not last forever. All my friends are gone and may meet someone out there I can get along with. Believe me most old people suck big time. I learned riding the tat from Damascus Virginia to telico that trying to keep everything charged is a chore. And almost makes the ride not enjoyable. I would recommend getting several batteries pack to charge stuff like you already have then stopping and doing a cheap hotel every 2 or 3 days. It can be a pain in the ass to video it all, but you do an exceptional job at it..... also I'm not sure if you carry a firearm. But I would highly advise it. Me and my dad ran into a naked man in north Carolina on the tat who had been shot 5 times and left for dead. He had been there 3 days laying in the ditch. It was extremely nerve racking because neither of us brought our pistols and didn't know if someone was up in the woods trying to jump us or not. He ended up getting life flighted out of there. Drug deal gone bad.

I have not done any long distance riding, but have done lots of trail riding across many years; many XR’s, KDX250, and a CT90. I’m here because I’m interested and kicking around the idea of doing the TAT. One thing about your situation and bike selection is that there are two of you… two people can team up and wrestle a couple of heavy Enfield’s through the truly difficult spots while still being comfortable and having abundant power on the other 98% of the trip. So far I’m considering a XR650l.. lowered w/ a different seat.

Check out the TAT videos if you get the chance - we ended up taking the CT125's. I did half the country solo and it was great. Then I hooked up with Johnny Pow in Colorado to finish - and that was also great. Hope you get to do the TAT - you won't regret it. I've done some overnights with the REH too and I love that bike - but it probably would have been too heavy for me on the TAT. Would have really liked to have the speed of the himmy on the slab though... (and the comfort and better luggage setup options...)

Why not get a motorcycle rack for your car, drive to the beginning of the trail, unload, ride & then double back to the vehicle? It's what I do, the highway / expressway / northern & southern state here are too damn dangerous in a car so I sure as hell won't chance it on a motorcycle. I've got a 1st gen Forester & it hauls the bike around just fine

The demo Ang talks about exists online somewhere with us playing together. Actually I play on several of his recordings.

That looks awesome! Still waiting for my 125 to be delivered..., this video certainly makes me anxious. Are you running stock tires?
@SomeGuyRides
@SomeGuyRides 3 жыл бұрын
Yup - stock tires. And they're fine for what we've done. Won't be good in sand but what is? My advice is to not buy anything until you get the bike... I did and I regret it... well - just a center rack... but...

I really dig these new 125's. Has there been any problems/climbing issues with NOT having the high/low tranny function that the earlier bikes have ?
@SomeGuyRides

No problems other than the passes in the Rockies. Keep watching - you'll get to it! But - to bad they didn't keep that feature for sure...

They seriously should make a bigger size. Just the motor. I love the bike tho but a 250 or 300 would be so nice..!

Oh man.... the 90's in Cola was a good time! Here's an ancient video of me, Troy, and Johnny Pow rocking the stage with CCCP at Rocks. Troy somehow got a friend to bring us in a "borrowed" limo that night. Good stuff... Enjoy that Honda! kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6nLaWuwlq2nfdU

You found room for the drone! Nice! What's your voice recording set-up? Media mod and a lav mic?
@SomeGuyRides
@SomeGuyRides 3 жыл бұрын
Yup - it's a lav mic with a custom short cable rigged to the helmet clamp and into the media mod. It's working well! I'll do a video about my setup sometime. I am all about the simplest setup possible.

Great video. thx for sharing. Did you use v8 gpx file for your GPS? Curious if you found it 100% accurate or not?
@SomeGuyRides
@SomeGuyRides 3 жыл бұрын
Yes used v8. The only problems we had were operator errors - missing turns etc... Route seemed to be right on.

one place there's a house with a giant white dog that ran out and acted threatening (but just barked and chased us) - it looked like the trail was taking us up a driveway but we ended up going around the house on what looked like new gravel section. I think the gps track went straight but we went around.

I used to have those maps. I'm 54 and a truck driver for 33 years had to find my way around LA . The millennials would not know what you're talking about they probably don't even know what a mile marker is.lol

6:40 You're using two phones here with two different mapping tools I assume? I think I recognize Gaia maps on the left, but could you briefly explain your setup and what you like about it? Thanks man!
@SomeGuyRides
@SomeGuyRides 3 жыл бұрын
I'd read where some folks like to have one zoomed in to see turns and one zoomed out to make sure you haven't gotten off track so I think I was trying that out. (Also was testing out the two different phone mounts). I get why people would do that - but at some point I just went back to using one phone with Gaia at about 2,000 feet and it was fine.
