Great video Archie. I can see your logic with the pizza logs. Good way to use the cleaner. We find we need all our scrap to keep the kiln running over the winter. I'd recommend building a hopper for filling the burner, it's saved us loads of time.

I have something in mind for that side of things

Conversion for you! 6 cubic metres is 211 cubic feet. One cord is 128 cubic feet. So 6m3 is 1.6 cords. Very enjoyable video. No idea why I enjoy watching 'woodyard' stuff so much when I have my own little woodyard, but I watched this as I had my pasta and Lion's Mane Mushroom sauce for tea. Yummy!
@dropshot1967Ай бұрын
yep. I was coming from the other side as in: 1 cord is 3.62 m3 so 6 m3/3.62m3 = 1.65 cord

So 4.8 “face cords?”

One cord is 128cuft of stacked wood.....or 180cuft loose......i made a number of 1 cord cages for a kiln and we found that a 180cuft cage with the wood dropped in with a loader equaled to 1 cord stacked
@TheTorkermanАй бұрын
Cord is WAAAY to confusing, the rest of the world uses cubic meters, much, much easier to work out.

The hopper at the furnace was full of big chunks. That's nice you made something outta what would be trash.

It's surprising how much usable firewood came out of your waste piles, definitely onto a winner doing a secondary screen to filter it out and getting it back into your product stream.
@oakfarmfirewoodАй бұрын
Yes but also wouldn’t want all the thinner “pizza bits” in a firewood sample

@@oakfarmfirewood oh yeah I agree with you, should be kept in a separate product to your bigger firewood bags. They look a perfect size for those Ooni wood fired pizza ovens (or similar) that you can get for your garden, or even small wood fired bbq smokers 👍

As for kindling, I use the pallet on which one of my deliveries comes. More than enough for my needs over six months. (Actually that is not quite the full story. I use one small fire lighter and three sticks of kindling.)

Can't you use that waste to do sawdust or something for animals to sit on, for barns or whatever? ... or maybe convert that to briquettes/compressed pallets for stoves...
@oakfarmfirewoodАй бұрын
Or just burn in the boiler as free fuel to dry logs?? No need to make more work making it into another product Sawdust goes for animal bedding

@@oakfarmfirewood no worries, watched the whole thing on another laptop as I was working on this one. Your videos make me wish I still had an open fire, but I do have that walnut wood, I have split down for my Pizza oven, like you said in the video

I still do t understand why so many people buy wood, I get that there is always a market for it, but I used to live in a small suburban attached house, and we heated with wood, so I’d scrounge council clean ups and roadside logs, you don’t need a huge yard to do it, it’s like buying tomatoes or pumpkins, why when you can ‘make’ your own 😇 not judging just saying
