Hi Sergi and Alla.. I totally admire your fortitude in dealing with that disgusting bed. Amazing that you were able to overcome your disgust and get rid of it!! I do wish you would wear your respirators when doing jobs like that in the house. You are dealing with items that may contain mold or fungus spores, droppings from birds or animals that contain bacteria or hantaviruses from mice and rodents. These are lethal to humans. Please protect yourselves.

I am glad that you are getting rid of all the junk in the bedrooms. It is much healthier to remove it from the house. It will also be easier (and less smelly) to do this during the winter months. Once you have cleared the rooms out, and allowed fresh air to waft through, they will not be scary for you. Thse rooms have great potential. Good luck!

A few months ago, I watched another video of people in Lake Como area that had changed house to wine bar and B&B. They had a small cantina that had modern glass doors and shelves of wine and barrels to drink on. Also in the cantina had flowing water that they said kept the room cool for wine storage. They had light on the walls and ceiling. It's possible!!

We always water our plants really well before a freeze. People don’t give there plants enough water for the roots to get a drink. It actually prevents them from freeze burn. I love the pots. Sergi does not think you are funny when he’s weighted down with bags of rubbish. Give that man a back rub when you get him home and be very still so he can enjoy 😉. Wouldn’t that be a blessing to have a water source (well) for your plants.

Alla, for tender plants take a large clear plastic bottle cut the top half off, and place the bottom half over the plant. It creates a terrarium environment, allows sunlight in, and protects tender leaves from frost. ✌️

Halo, just a suggestion. When we move heavy items up or down, my husband taught me to use a very solid board. I put the object on the board and use leverage. I can also then slide it either up to the car trunk or trailer platform, same when taking down. Just have to make sure that you control the speed it goes down. that way there is no damage to the bottom of item and easier than lifting with your back. I also used small pieces of old carpet , tutned upside down, to put under heavy furniture to slide across floors. It's amazing how strong you feel 😁.

Alla and Sergei… the next time you go to your local home improvement store, look at the pro-lifter moving straps and Scotch brand sliders to use to move heavy furniture. There are two kinds of sliders, one for use on carpet, another for use on wood or tile floors. A four step, foldable step stool that has a 300-pound capacity would be handy, too. I worry about the one you’ve been using giving way and you or Sergei injuring yourselves. Plus a taller ladder will be helpful in tackling high ceilings for demolition, repair, and painting. Sandblasting the beams would helpful.

I am sooooooo glad you’re removing old stuff from that bedroom. Please consider everything in that room as hazardous to your health and put on your respirators, coveralls, and gloves before removing the mattress and bedding. Buy a good shop vacuum with HEPA filtration that contains the dust vacuumed up, as you do not want to breathe toxins. Once you vacuum, open the windows and let fresh air and sunshine into the room. Burn sage in clockwise motion starting at floor level and fill the whole room with sage smoke, moving up the walls with each pass. Pay particular attention to the corners. Once you have done that, fill little bowls of salt and place them in the corners of the room for 48 hours, then throw the salt in the trash and wash the bowls thoroughly with hot soapy water. Lastly, close the windows and burn a fresh, unused beeswax tea light candle until it extinguishes itself (usually three- to four hours). As the tea light candle starts to burn, speak aloud your intentions for the house (both of you in agreement) and ask Archangel Michael to protect the house from all dark and negative energies. It’s quite common to experience strange things during demolition and reconstruction of old houses. Once you remove your respirators, coveralls, and gloves, wash your face and hands, then sage yourselves from foot to top of head, under arms, front to back. Then give thanks for Divine blessings upon you, your relationship, your lives, and the house itself. Speak into existence what you want to be and so it is. Take care. Stay safe.

@@kimberlyearly8918 Yes! I do believe she might live under a rock because she sounds so befuddled as to what to do about the soil drying out as we all are looking at the bare naked garden soil. Mulching is not something to be done eventually. Sometimes it is done BEFORE planting (as a preventative garden bed preparation.) And certainly not months later as you look over your pitifully struggling little plants wondering whether you should water or not because you’re afraid it might cause the plants to freeze. BTW mulching helps protect against freezing temps.

@@bettrho2490 Wow! Sounds like you need to take a chill pill...or 10 lol! Just take a deep breath and I promise you'll be ok! Maybe they want to mulch after they have grass which makes more sense than mulching on dirt. And it's a little hard to get grass to grow in winter. It's not like they're just gonna leave it dirt forever. Her plants don't look pitiful at all! They're all doing really well so I don't know where you're getting that from. Regardless, it's no skin off your nose if she does or doesn't mulch so I don't know why you care so much. And, if you don't like seeing her look at her garden go watch something you'd like better!!

I took it in smaller pieces that would fit into the dumpster over a period of 2 weeks so my neighbors wouldn’t complain.

You can slide the box springs down the inside stairs, less tiring! I love your new planters!!!! Will the laurel trees go in them? Flowers and hanging vines will be pretty at base of trees.

If you get that water tested to see if it's good enough to drink you won't need water from the mains. You can have a pump installed and plumb it all through the house. You just might need a filter for the kitchen to clean any debris. You could also get a clear high strength Perspex cover so the water will always be visible and give that beautiful effect on the walls. I hate to say but I think someone did die on that mattress, as that how it looks when the body starts decomposing. Not necessarily human but I would recommend wearing masks when you clear anything like that. Some bacteria and mold spores can survive for decades in an environment like that.

So important to sprinkle the most cumbersome jobs with happy moments such as a trip to your favorite nursery and finds like those great planters. It keeps the spirit up and positive 🙂And the bay leaf bushes are a great fit for the garden and Lake Como's weather. You will have aromatic leaves for cooking for many years to come. Glad you started clearing that bedroom. One day at a time, and soon you will have another task completed, but make sure you use masks when cleaning the rubbish, and you should get a big tarp to make it easier to carry the garbage out. Your enthusiasm is contagious. Keep up the good work!

Get old sheets at the thrift store or plastic tarpaulins, tie the nasty bedding into bundles and toss it out the windows. Down to the path. Avoiding spreading the stink and mold.

Oh my gosh. That was so disgusting. You should have had a mask on. You need to get that out as soon as possible. It's just disgusting. WOW. Please put on a mask. Be careful. Your planters are absolutely beautiful. That garden is going to be so gorgeous. People will pass and admire your garden when they see it from the street. And. Slide the nasty bed down the stairs. Then, lay it on its side and push them up outside the stairs. Don't pick it up. You're right. The veiw from that room is beautiful. Today was a hard day, but good.

I don't think you should touch or do anything to any of your cellars / cantina walls . They have a life of their own. They have bene there for such a long time, doing their job perfectly. Open the doors and help them breath when the weather Is good.

If I might make a suggestion, put an empty clay pot over the flowers at night. If it gets very cold, cover the pot in straw. Great! Something to look forward to! A flooded basement! Between damp, rot, mice and mold, you'll be happy to see the end of that bedding from the bedroom. Those mattresses were definitely eaten by some rodents and for a long time.

@@DreamingofAChateau Here in the UK it's normal for a house to be cleared before marketing. But mostly houses are not bequeathed to multiple family members. That's the reason houses sit for ages empty and neglected in Italy. And filled with junk or sometimes gems as you are finding. Hope the olive oil and wine are usable!

Just be patient. Don’t water the plants. It’s the cold air that sucks the moisture in the soil. Once warmer spring early summer it will look as you like it. In Calgary Canada we can’t plant anything till mid or late may. Imagine that.
