I agree! I used to get as far as Kings and stop because all of the wars and bloodshed, the gradual fall into evil of most of the kings, it really frustrated and sickened me! But this is my 2nd year and as Fr Mike explains that the Bible isn’t a Hallmark story, He has a plan and it can’t always be pretty because mankind is prone to profound sin. The explanations also include how these particular scriptures apply to our times too. This podcast is truly a gift! 🙏🙏🙏

Thank God for Father Mike!! I have read through the Bible many times; 4 years bible study. Then by myself I read through the children's bible over and over to try to find the a more simple understanding. After that I started the adult version again and read each day since last August until the end of May this year. I was watching a news show and saw that the most popular podcast was a Catholic Priest reading the Bible each day! Then I looked it up and found Father Mike. This is the first time I'm really hearing certain connections that I missed and for which I thirsted. It's a whole new world to me. I am so grateful to have the wisdom of a Priest guiding me. I'll admit I stopped going to church after I was confirmed but no matter how far I stray I'm always dragged back in . For me it was the fact that I started finding out a lot of people that go to church don't practice what they preach . So I asked myself what is the point? I've decided I don't need to go to church to know God and I can find him through the Bible/ podcasts. I also want to start praying again and grab a rosary . I am restarting this after taking a much too long break from being able to do the daily readings. I always have had a hard time following genealogies and difficult names. I can't believe how quickly and accurately you read through all of them, quite effortlessly, Fr. Mike. I am enjoying pondering the scriptures in the reading and writing thoughts in my notebook that accompanies the course. I don't know if I will finish in a year, but it's not a race. I've read many parts through my lifetime, but I am determined to have read it cover to cover at least once in my lifetime. Thank you for breaking it down into smaller, doable parts that are easy to pick up later on. I want to say this for anyone like me that got disrupted in some way, it's never too late. And as you have said, God still accomplishes His will even when we are broken, He uses us still. It is never too late. God bless.

I started going to a Women's Bible study about the prophet Elijah and as we are reading through the book of Kings and Elijah's "exploits" it is so familiar to me and my understanding is so much better having read through it with Father Mike once already! It's so interesting hearing the names of the places...here in CT where I live, we have a town called Bethel, a town called Canaan (as well as New Canaan) and a road in Danbury called Padanaram Rd. It's so cool to realize they came from the Bible!
