Second installation in the series of learning to punch the pads of Deluge.
There's a lot of good tutorials about the box and I watched at least these to try to get a handle of sampling:
Mg Wiggly: • SYNTHSTROM DELUGE - SA...
Loopop: • DELUGE 3: Full tutoria...
Rezzonator's series: • Tutorial - Synthstrom ...
Also the free PDF producer manual by Synthdawg and Synthstrom has a clear documentation: synthstrom.com...

I know this is 2y later, but a trick I've learned with repitching samples in synth mode is to use osc2 as a reference tone and transpose the sample in osc1 to match. It just saves having to think lol.

Got both. The 707 destroys the deluge in sound design ,effects and sample management. Not even a comparison. The deluge is a toy in comparison when you compare raw power and capability.

@@williamwallace6508 I agree the Deluge is a great machine (which I did buy in the end) but it's sat in storage most of the time as I much prefer the Roland TR8-S As a hands on mix on the fly machine..

Another great educational deluge video,,must say I rather enjoyed it and have watched it twice now. I would love you to do a “full song arrangement” video if you’re looking for ideas for your next deluge offering. Just like to thank you once again for taking the time out to do these videos,,it’s very much appreciated! Thanks,John 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Love it, bro. I've wanted to produce dance music since 1991, but have never been able to transpose melody and inspiration onto a DAW (Amiga and Atari computers baaaaaack then!). When the MC707 was launched I was all in, and even had an order in place for one - but the I saw BoBeat's review of this thing...and it was love at first sight. I bought it immediately, canceled the MC707, and now am finally able to produce the oldskool acid house and rave that I have always wanted. I'm subscribing to you dude, as your tutorials are the clearest, and you're a beginner with it, like me.

Thanks! I was actually also looking at MC707 but I think this device is way more flexible than it when it comes to composition. I also like Roland's idea of having different knobs for all channels for performance, but seems like the Deluge is pretty capable of that too. Just pressing each track when performing kinda adds the same functionality with one extra push of a button so it's not a bad tradeoff.

I have both the Deluge and the MC-707. With the 2 latest firmware updates(1.20 and 1.30) the MC-707 made a big leap forwards. The Deluge is more all-in-one but the MC-707 has a fantastic sound engine(Zen-core) and thousands of internal sounds. It still needs some featured, like count-in, but it's getting better and better.

Whales Have Teeth You won't be disappointed. The synth engine is really top of the world, so much possibilities(if you interested in that....). And since the latest update(v1.30) it's a audio interface too. Sampling can have some future love from Roland, you just got 63 seconds sampling time. With the Deluge and the MC-707 together you will have so much power.

Your videos are getting higher quality with every upload. I also like how you kept the times you "messed up" doing something instead of just cutting it out completely so we can see more of the whole process. Nice reference to Ricky Tinez's video with the audio cable plug-in thing in the intro ( 0:20 ) btw :)

mine arrived yesterday. so far... Yes the waveform editing is surprisingly effective. The fact you dont seem to be able to arm the record so it automates when you start playing is frustrating. Manual slicing is a bit fiddly, but im used to an Sp4O4. so mostly a learning curve thing. Pretty colours are pretty. It hasn't magically made me a better musician. oh... also i think you can change the mode of all the chops by pressing affect entire while setting the cut/loop mode

Great video! Little question: I already watched the videos you share in the description but didn't know about this awesome shortcut to sample into a kit. My question is: when you sample via audioclip you can use the "learn" button to select the input, and select the monitoring option as well (a little dot indicates it's monitoring). But when you sample in a kit, how do you toggle the input/the monitoring? It would be awesome to be able to monitor audio like this in kit mode. Thanks!

Hi great track and tutorial (y) Just wondering how you handle the sampling of the ukulele. Looks like you intialize a new track and then puch the audition pad together with the record pad and after that the SELECT. Am I right? And the the Deluge start to record when sound is coming in?
@whaleshaveteeth
@whaleshaveteeth 4 жыл бұрын
Yes exactly, except that the Deluge starts recording instantly after pressing SELECT. This creates a bit of empty space in the beginning of each recording but luckily the waveform editing is easy.

Enjoyed the video you can add an extra sub to your total.....Lame I know but Im an Ableton user looking at getting a deluge to integrate into my setup of multiple hardware synths controlled by ipad or Ableton plus a range of VST instruments and I haven't really found any definitive videos on Ableton integration for the Deluge as either a slave or a master..I use a APC40 MK2 to control Ableton....just wondering if the Deluge integrates well....does it support audio over USB etc...Thanks for the video I thought the nuts and the finger snap sounded excellent.

Hey! And sorry, I've completely missed your comment! There's been something weird going on with them recently. Deluge doesn't support audio over usb and also I've never tried controlling Ableton with it. How about Ableton Push if you're planning to use Ableton anyway?

Shadow Banned ah I see! If you’re planning on using Deluge’s sequencer and sending midi through Ableton to your other gear, I can confirm it works. I’ve sequenced at least Digitone with it sending midi from Deluge through Ableton.

@@whaleshaveteeth OK nice to know so how is the latency if your recording in Ableton using the Deluge as the master?...Does it trigger the clip recording correctly or is it better to have the deluge as a slave?

Shadow Banned haven’t tried recording into Ableton but just using Ableton as a gateway for syncing between devices and always recording into Deluge. At least with that I haven’t noticed any significant lag.
