I have mixed feelings about this strike. Being a dockworker is an important job and the country relies on them for consumer goods. Where I have an issue is that my husband and sons are firefighters in southern CA and their base pay ranges between 65-80k. Firefighters can make over 100k if they work aof overtime, but with a cost of not being with their families or climb the ranks. Firefighters risk their lives everyday and have a more dangerous job, they also had to work during Covid and have to continue educating themselves through training classes. I think dockworkers already make decent money, but feel that first responders and the military (not union, but protecting our country) should make more or equivalent to the dockworkers. Hopefully, both sides will come to a compromise soon. Trump 2024!

How smart can the consumers be who are running to the stores stocking up on paper towels and TP. 93 percent of those commodities in made in the U.S. on shore. The average container ship can hold 15,000 of them. It takes 2 to 3 days to unload one average sized ship. Give the crane operator $1 each container, and I'm sure he would be more than happy.
