O my God, I am heartfully sorry for having offended thee, and I detest all my sins because of thy just punishment, but most of all because I have offended thee my God, who is all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of thy grace, to sin no more, and to avoid the near occasion of sin. Amen.

Hi y’all 👋 Happy day 203.🙏❤️ I was settling in for a nice quiet evening when my RCIA candidate called & asked me if I wanted to come to a dinner party at her house, one of our priests was fixing the dinner. I jumped at the chance because I heard Father was a great cook. They held an auction awhile back benefiting the school & her husband had the winning bid. He’s Catholic but she’s not…yet.😊 Anyway, I had already put on my jammies, but I said yes. It was going to take them 30 minutes to get to my house. I jumped back into my clothes, put a little makeup on, & went & had a lovely time. Wonderful surprise to the beginning of the weekend! God is so good!😊🙏❤️ Edit: From now on I’m not going to post the consecration reflection at night. It puts too much pressure on me to get it done, so I rush through. I’ll post tomorrow as early as I’m able, which, admittedly, is not very early.😄

He with ears, hear: Through the Holy Spirit, God has put it on me to preach to those lost in the devil's deceit! Hear me when I say, ye that are Catholic have been deceived and know not God. Ye worship Mary, praying to her; when God tells his to worship none other than him. It is idolatry. Catholicism has its own Bible and teachings, which are blasphemous to the word of God: the Holy Bible. As ye follow the teachings of man and not God; ye hear the pope, but not Jesus, yet ye claim to be his disciples! These are but a few things I named ye dwell within; there are many more. I tell you now to repent of your sins, accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and you'll receive the gift of the Holy Spirit upon asking the Father! There are *NO* sub-divisions of Christianity. You're either a disciple of Christ or not. A Christian is someone who follows God's word, not a religion. Who obey the Father and follow his will; not man's nor their own heart's. Unless you keep Jesus' commandments, think not the Holy Spirit will dwell within you! They who heed this message and did what was stated with an open heart to God... Read the Holy Bible (KJV) daily and every time before you read, pray to the Father and ask: "Lord I ask that you give me understanding of your word, that I interpret it the way you want me to, and none of my own. I ask you in Jesus' name, amen." Revelation 22:8-9 KJV 8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. 9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God. Acts 2:38 KJV 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Luke 11:13 KJV 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? John 14:21-24 KJV 21 *He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.* 22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? 23 Jesus answered and said unto him, *If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.* 24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and *the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.* 3 John 1:11 KJV 11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. *He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.* 1 John 3:6-10 KJV 6 *Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.* 7 Little children, let no man deceive you: *he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.* 8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9 *Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.* 10 *In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God,* neither he that loveth not his brother.

Yes! in our parish, we used to have that sacrament of Reconciliation that took place in the framework of a communal celebration. This happened the Reconciliation service during Lent for Easter, and another for Advent. Several priests from difference parishes comes and hears confessions after the proclamation of the Word, Homily, examination of conscience and the Act of Contrition. Such a gift!

Indulgences are granted through the ministry of the Church, which, as the dispenser of the grace of redemption, distributes the treasury of merits of Christ and the Saints. In cases of serious necessity (as in imminent danger of death), recourse may be had to a communal reconciliation with general confession and general absolution, as long as the norms of the Church are observed and there is the intention of individually confessing one's grave sins in due time. The Sacrament of Penance is indeed a gift of God's infinite mercy.🙏

Father Mychal Judge the chaplain of the New York City Fire Department often gave group absolution to NYC firefighters before they went into a fire. He was criticized for it but it seems to me that running into a burning building is grave circumstance and certainly there is a danger of death. I hope he did it on 9/11. On 9/11 he went into the towers and was killed while giving last rites to one of his firefighters. They found this prayer in his pocket, “Lord, take me where You want me to go; let me meet who You want me to meet; tell me what You want me to say, and keep me out of You way.” Todays reading reminded me of him and his beautiful faith.

Day 203 takeaways: The purpose of Indulgences: The Christian who seeks to purify himself is not alone. We are linked to the entire Communion of Saints in charity. This includes the Church Triumphant (those in Heaven), the Church Militant (those on Earth) and the Church suffering (those in Purgatory). The holiness of one can profit others as well. The ripple effect of an individual holy moment is far greater than the ripple effect of one sin. It is easy to misunderstand indulgences. The selling of indulgences was never okay and forbidden by the Church, however contributing money to the poor or to the Church is an act of Grace. To those on the outside, this can look as if someone is purchasing graces, but they are not. The grace is the effect from the charitable action. MOTIVE MATTERS. To perform an indulgence with the thought of, “I’m buying a ‘get-out-of-jail-free’ card is the sin of PRESUMPTION. God sees into our hearts and He knows our motives. He is not to be made a chump out of. It would be like someone erroneously thinking, “Oh, I can have an abortion because God will forgive me.” This is total presumption. Additionally, many Protestant denominations feel that once they have chosen Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior that they do not need to grow in righteousness and sanctification. They see no need in indulgences. However, we know that there is a continual need for spiritual growth. There are seven steps to the Sacrament of Confession: Greeting & prayer; Reading of Scripture to illuminate one’s conscience; Confession of sins; Penance; Absolution; Prayer of Thanksgiving; Act of Contrition. There can be Reconciliation in a Communal Liturgical Action but sins must still be confessed on an individual basis. Only in cases of grave necessity, like a military troop going into battle, can general absolution be given. It is a rare case.

At 4:29 Fr Mike said the saints “in this way attained their own salvation”. How can anyone attain salvation but by trusting and following our Lord Jesus?
@wms72
@wms72 Жыл бұрын
All saints do everything through and in Jesus. That's a "given," "default", taken for granted, as when St. Paul admonished, "Work out your salvation in fear and trembling," the Christian understands he means "in Christ Jesus," trusting in Him.. That's why we make all our prayers "In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. " See timestamp 2:49, the Christian acts "with the help of God's grace." Read 2:54 the life of the Christian is joined to Christ.

July 22, 2023 Please pray for Souls in Purgatory. Go ahead, just take about 30 seconds to help save a soul that maybe is your family member or friend! Go forth and help save! Here is the prayer: (According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory.) The Prayer of St. Gertrude Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family.
Amen. God would reply to St. Gertrude that He would use whatever was offered to Him for the faithful departed, according to His inclination to show pardon & mercy.

He wants us to name our sins to the best of our memory even though He already knows our sins. Like the woman that was hemorrhaging for years and she touched the Lord's clothes. He asked, "Who touched me?" Not because He didn't know, but because He wanted her to admit to it.

Imagine being given the task of counting every grain of sand in the world. It would obviously be an impossible task. In fact, all the people in the world could not accomplish such a task together. Some things are simply beyond us. Another task that would even be more difficult to accomplish is to fully fathom the Mercy of God. This is impossible. The Mercy of God is completely beyond us. Its depths and breadth are infinite. You could spend your whole life contemplating and experiencing the Mercy of God and you would only begin to penetrate the surface. In fact, if every person ever created spent eternity contemplating the Mercy of God, our combined effort would not even suffice to comprehend it. Understanding that the Mercy of God is infinite will enable us to turn to Him no matter our struggle and no matter our sin, trusting in Him with all the powers of our soul (See Diary #1059). Have you tried to comprehend the Mercy of God? Do you even understand that you can never fully understand this infinite Gift? If you are to trust in our Lord, you must begin this impossible mission of Divine contemplation. It’s what you will do eternally in Heaven. And your Heaven must begin now. Doing so will deepen your ability to trust, and your trust will enable you to surrender. Do not wait, begin this glorious task today. -Daily Reflections on Divine Mercy For the intentions of all of our brothers and sisters in need of prayer, worldwide, especially those in need of purgatorial prayer(guys know that you are one plenary indulgence away from Eternal Salvation in accordance with the Will of God. Hang in there you've got this) 🙏❤🙏 Lord of Mercy, we thank You for the infinite nature of Your love and for calling us to begin our journey into this unfathomable mystery. Give us the grace to open our eyes so that we may begin to plunge into Your Mercy and in so doing, deepen our trust in You this day. Jesus, we trust in You. 🙏❤🙏🤟🙏❤🙏

I use this study as part of my morning routine. But since they are getting considerably longer every day I may just have to quit. I'm a single dad of a son with a mental disability, and one of his buddies has come to live with us because he now homeless (something that happens to a lot of young people with mental disabilities). So it is not always practical for me to spread listening to long videos over the course of the day. My time in the morning is when it is quiet. So when the videos get over 15-18 minutes I start running out of time. So I may just finish the year reading using the plan and not the videos.

Father Mike, do you think just like general absolution should only be given in times of "grave necessity" so communion by extraordinary means/ministers should also only be done in times of grave necessity? I consider Covid to be one of those times where communion on the hand made a lot of sense. Just before going into battle with a group of men is another moment of 'grave necessity' maybe where multiple people (laity) help to distribute the host very quickly. Otherwise I've always received on the tongue from a priest/deacon preferably just because I "feel" like receiving on the hand or hand-to-hand thru other people is only meant for those emergency situations like pandemics and wars and near death situations where someone carries the eucharist out to you in the hospital etc and I shouldnt "abuse" it?... I can't cite canon law or some scripture that says this - I've always just felt the spirit pushing me in that direction. Curious what you think, and what any other Catholics on the KZbin think. I have friends who are extraordinary ministers - they are all good people. I have no axe to grind. Cheers!

They with ears to hear, let them hear: Through the Holy Spirit, God has put it on me to preach to those lost in the devil's deceit!

Hmmm! I have a beef with this one father. It seems that you are rationalizing the early selling of indulgences for building St Peter's Basilica and perhaps other Church buildings as well. IMO if it looks and quacks like a duck, then it's a duck. To say that centuries later Catholics and non-Catholics alike really enjoy it as justification for exploiting, often the poor and less educated at the time it occurred is not admitting the faults and sins of early Popes. I have no problem with indulgences directed at helping others. If I am told to donate or volunteer for a local charity, I can do that and will do that. But if I'm asked to donate more money unwillingly to the Church coffers or projects, then I cannot see how that could viewed in any other way than selling salvation. Early Church corruption drove many believers away from the Church, caused many arguments and divides in the Church, and can arguably be listed as a source for Luther's reformation. I don't think we should try to justify it with, "Yeah but oh the benefits to believers, today" If the Church needs money for special projects, ask! I'll willfully give more. But please don't ask me to donate to The Church as penance for my confession.
@rm-paradise
@rm-paradise Жыл бұрын
Glad that is in the past. A lot of bad things happened in the past. The Church forbids selling of sanctification. Yet, we are all broken people and really don't know the intent of the Church leaders back then if they believed they were selling sanctification or asking for alms. I'd prefer not to be a cynic and assuredly know the Church forbids selling of indulgences. 7/22/22023.

@tommaxwell429 Anyone doing a charitable work (like donating money) UNWILLINGLY, as you say, certainly earns no merit for it, gains no indulgence, remits no purgatorial consequence. (So why should the Church say it does? I doubt the Church ever did this.) Is there proof the Church extorted money from people, forced them to give UNWILLINGLY? I really think Luther's made-up accusation of "selling Indulgences" was as unjustified as his forbidding the publication of the Epistle of St. James in his edition of the German Bible. He excluded it because James explicitly denies Luther's made-up doctrine of salvation by faith alone. James 2:22 But, if an accusation is repeated often enough, almost everyone believes it. Just like the Galileo controversy. People have been conditioned to believe the Church silenced Galileo for teaching heliocentricism, ignoring the fact that the Catholic priest Copernicus discovered the Earth revolved around the Sun BEFORE Galileo did, yet nothing happened to him. If you resent being assigned a penance, you really don't trust God's holy Church, the power of binding and loosing bestowed on the Church by Christ. Donating to build a Church is an act of charity, which would be an especially appropriate penance for someone who sins by miserliness, lack of generosity, lack of trust, lack of concern for the spiritual or temporal welfare of one's neighbor or one's soul.

💜🤍🌹MARIAN CONSECRATION🌹🤍💜 Day 10 Consecration to Jesus through Mary “Come, Holy Spirit, living in Mary. Unveil for me the meaning of the Immaculate Conception. Who Are You, O Immaculate Conception? (Part 2) We know Mary is immaculately conceived. So why did she identify herself as the Immaculate Conception? It has to do with the union between the Holy Spirit & Mary. St. Maximilian Kolbe explains: *What type of union is this? It is above all an interior union, a union of her essence with the “essence” of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit dwells in her, lives in her. This was true from the first instant of her existence. It was always true; it will always be true.* *In what does this life of the Spirit in Mary consist? He himself is uncreated Love in her; the Love of the Father and of the Son…He is a fruitful Love, a “Conception.” Among creatures made in God’s image the union brought about by married love is the most intimate of all…the Holy Spirit lives in the soul of the Immaculata, in the depths of her very being…makes her fruitful…If among human beings the wife takes the name of her husband because she belongs to him, is one with him, becomes equal to him and is, with him, the source of new life, with how much greater reason should the name of the Holy Spirit, who is the divine Immaculate Conception, be used as the name of her in whom he lives as uncreated Love, the principle of life in the whole supernatural order of grace?* All to say Mary is the spouse of the Holy Spirit, a union deeper than what we understand by a spousal relationship. This will be explored tomorrow. This has been the most difficult concept so far. I ended up just copy/pasting that whole section as I had difficulty putting in my own words. I’ll need to ponder this more. If you were able to get through it & you understand it please share your thoughts. We focus on offering up our prayers & devotions to understanding ourselves & our sins. Humility is the key. St. Maximilian Kolbe, pray for us.🙏❤️
