This was an amazing tutorial. Painting only a few years, under painting has always been very elusive to me. Mr Evansen really demonstrated and described the theory behind the value study and layering of lights ti darks. I have learned so much! Thank you!

Hi Eric! Thanks so much for these podcasts! I just found your channel and started watercolor at the beginning of Covid after trying acrylics. I live in Palm Beach County Florida. I see plenty of beautiful beaches and tropical foliage but it’s refreshing to see artists who paint landscapes and urban scenes. Thanks again!

Thank you so much Eric Rhoads for your introducing with Andy Evansen, I am from Ahmedabad Gujarat state India and too much interested in water colour painting because of I am working on water colour project, So thankful for Andy Evansen have made good demonstration step by step, how to use water colour, his work is in almost three four stage 🌟 starting with very loose strokes with light colour, wash in the whole area, little bit defined the 🧱 sky horizontal line, foreground, and way space of the area.So it can be helpful what actually illusion of the scene, and than going on little bit details again about where darker value and lighter value, the picture must be more clear but before first wash must be dried up, that makes clear edges for the next step for applying to clear the vision. now finally two states that makes more details about clearity of the painting, but overall eyes make a good decision to putting the colour. I am very happy with this whole process of water colour painting experience and practice So Andy Evansen has good control over the brush strokes as well as colour applying 🎿 skills that is the best example for me. thanks so much for your time and doing this demonstration for me as well as enjoyable for those who are looking on online demonstration.

Hello from a tiny island in UK - I spent two weeks in China painting (the colours of the Forbidden City are spectacular) and the people were so gracious. I too have a set of Chinese brushes but I wish I could get results like you 😊. Thank you for a fantastic tutorial in light and shade, this was a great help I learn’t so many new things.
