I'm still trying to get back into the swing of things. I slowed down drastically during January. 2024 has been a whirlwind where we got sooooooo much done. But idle hands can only be idle for so long. In this video I ran two more circuits in the shop along one long wall. I'm left with a 60' wall with seven receptacles.
The biggest win here is getting my big air compressor operational again. Wow, what a win! I haven't been able to use this compressor in ten months. I never went totally without compressed air, though. I did have a super-duper-fast (sarcasm) 12v cheep-o air compressor from Harbor Freight. It did the job, but boy, am I glad to see my large compressor going. Filling up the tractor tire went from a 20-minute process to one or two. Oh yeah, I can use compressed air to blow stuff off now! Winner winner chicken dinner!
Take care,
Jay

Jay, i've been a industrial ironworker welder for over 45 years. You have absolutely nothing to worry about drilling a hole for a wire conduit in the center of the web in a " i" beam.

You're probably 10,000% right. I just can't get myself to do it though. I'm fine wrapping the wire around the i-beam.

Having receptacles and air makes it a shop ready for work. I can't do anything without either of them. I enjoy these videos as they are relaxing and many of us are living vicariously through you or enjoy seeing someone deal with the same issues and fun that we have in the past. I have allot of experience with metal buildings. Do you mind if I use a pic of your minisplit filters in a video I'm working on. It's about all the little things you need to know when selecting a particular minisplit for a workshop. Got the filter build and update video linked. IMO yours is the best I have seen.

Another few steps on your amazing journey Jay, electrickery in the new shop and proper air too. Great stuff. What with the archery, the Kung Fu and her 2 Malinois by her side, Miss T is going to be a formidable force when she's older. Great to see you with her, encouraging her but also installing the safety knowledge for handling arrows and making her think about what she's doing and why. That's great parenting Sir and she'll thank you for it down the road. I know you're moving along your journey and I'm so happy for you and your family but a little bit sad as I know that every step you take is a step closer to you getting to the end of this amazing series of vlogs. I'm hoping you will keep going with this channel as well as your woodworking one when your house is built and you have achieved all you deserve. Looking forward to the next instalment.

Four absolutely fantastic things in this video starting with the most important... 1) taking time to watch your daughter shoot arrows 2) puppies sleeping and you wondering "what's going on?" 3) starting the indoor electrical 4) I have a better miter station than Jay! Good on ya!

In the city where I live (small town actually) electric code says all exposed wiring has to be in conduit. Also surface mount electrical has to be in metal conduit. I have never understood the wiring codes I have encountered over the years; they varied by city while the plumbing code was statewide. Strange.

See if you can find some relatively clean office carpet in a dumpster or on a renovation site. You can put it on the wall to help cut down on reflected noise, even glue or staple some of it to the 'inside' of some relatively 'cheap' recycled ply to make an enclosure/corral around the compressor which should cut noise even further.

I’m no electrician, but it seems you’ve installed 15A receptacles throughout. Might consider changing the one for the compressor to a 20A receptacle. Also, I believe 12 gauge wire is rated for 20A and 10 gauge should be for 30A. My opinion, so take it for what it’s worth.
@BPo3Homestead
@BPo3Homestead 2 күн бұрын
After 50' amp load drops to 15A on 10 gauge copper wire and is good up to 100'. There's no need for anything more than a 15A receptacle because I'm only using it for one 15A machine. I don't leave my compressor on at all times. I only turn it on when it's needed. Therefore, I'll always be in control of the amp load at that farthest receptacle. Also, I'm not entirely sure it's going to stay there. I may move it outside to the middle of the lean-to. Hi Jay. Did you insert any rubber grommets in the holes you cut? That stops any chance of the cables being cut on the sharp metal. Just thought I'd ask.

I drilled a 7/8" hole for 3/8" die cast connectors for 1/2" knockouts. In areas where the romex wraps around the i-beam I wrapped the i-beam edges in split rubber hose.
