I am a non-Catholic who has been on Father Mike's BIY journey since day one. I have learned so much, not just about what is in my KJV but also about books I never heard of before. And now I finally understand why Mary is referred to as the New Ark on the Covenant. So, thanks everyone for allowing me along for the ride through the Bible. It's been bumpy, but good. (The historical cultural info has been so helpful-Thanks)

That anyone can believe or think that Mary would have had normal marital relations with Joseph is incredible. That which is set aside for what is sacred can never be used for what is profane. If we saw Fr Mike drinking coffee from the chalice that he used at Mass, which contained the blood of Christ, we would be rightly scandalized. It would be unthinkable. Likewise with Mary. She could not be used by a mere mortal, given the divine purpose to which she consented. She literally contained Jesus.

God bless you Father, this is my second time I’m listening to the Bible study, I finished the CIY couple of weeks ago. 18:20 I agree with you that there’s a way to ask a question, just wanted to add that Zachariah probably read and preached that Abraham in his old age was given a son, yet no one heard that a woman can have a child without a man. I think that’s why Mary didn’t get muted, plus she must have been more humble like you said. ✝️❤️🙏🏽

An important reminder about trusting God and also Mother Mary. *_ Theophilus - The one who loves God - can indeed be a person with that name and also addressed to us! *_ Luke's structural style of writing shows his education as a physician and also his Greek origin. A writer who was transformed to a believer usually writes in an evidence and fact based way. *_ King David danced in front of the Old Ark of the Covenant and John the Baptist leaped in the womb of Elizabeth when he was in front of the New Ark of Covenant (Mother Mary!). So much symbolism and fulfillment! *_ A great explanation of the term 'Adelphoi'- meaning cousins or even followers of Jesus. Not just blood siblings. Mother Mary being the Ark also resonates with her being a perpetual virgin. Truly holy and a saint. * The difference between the question with a doubt by Elizabeth about God's power and Mary's question asking for useful clarifying details shows that we must also never doubt God's ability to make anything possible! Thank yo Fr Mike. I always had this doubt about the questions asked by Abraham (and Sarah laughed), Zachariah and Mary. Though this was explained - I got the best response from you Father Mike - there is a way to ask questions and there is a way to ask questions. I always struggle with doubts about my faith and sins. And I ask God questions and then I think I have offended God and run to Confession. Now I know that - there is a way to ask questions and there is a way to ask questions. I like that.

I am still here moving along with you. As a protestant to Catholic covert, I did not understand much of this about Mary, but the reasoning, rational and spirituality of Mary ever virgin makes complete sense to me now. Mary is the holy mother of God. It is appropriate for her to be consecrated to the life of Jesus alone, singular. Makes complete sense to me. I also read this fascinating article about biology that mothers are found to have their son's DNA present in their blood decades after birth because of the exchange of blood during pregnancy. Wow, right, makes sense that Mary would not be for anyone but for Jesus alone. Check out the science on it; it is absolutely amazing.

Mark 6:3 very clearly stated Jesus' brother's by name and mentioned his sisters as well. Also in Matthew 1:25 it states that Joseph knew her (Mary) not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS. I don't believe that Mary was a virgin for all of her life. But she was the Virgin Mother of Jesus. Regardless of that difference though, I am glad to have come all this way with you and I will continue to the end of the Bible. And thank you for bringing me through The Old Testament. I've learned a lot about it. I had only read Proverbs in the Old Testament before starting this journey. There's many times I found myself thinking about the answers that I didn't know I needed, until this BIAY Podcast. ❤

Careful now. Any current translation of the Bible could lead you astray. Words used then don't mean the same today. Words used in the old English (KJV first bible) don't mean the same today.

According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory: Eternal Father, I offer You the most precious blood of thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, for those in my own home, and in my family. Amen. In her account of another vision, St. Faustina describes Purgatory as a "great crowd of suffering souls" undergoing purification. Further, she says that the souls are "praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; only we can come to their aid" (Diary, 20) Father I need your grace again because I am not the witness I want to be.

Perhaps because John didn't live in Bethlehem. Luke 1:38-39 states: "During those days Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth." We don't know the distance, only that John was not born in Bethlehem. Matthew 2:16 describes the massacre of the Holy Innocents: "When Herod realized that he had been deceived by the magi, he became furious. He ordered the massacre of all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had ascertained from the magi."
