Mine is about 4-5 metres tall and I never ever experienced expected that! I’m going to grow way more now that I’ve tested one out.

Four months from seed germination to maturity and sprouting new fruit? That’s amazing I’ll have to try grown it.

Sounds like your soil is the same as ours, half my property is desert sandy soil, the other half is clay stagnant grassland. Very little organic mater. I started brush hogging (cutting) the grass lands last year and there has been a Hugh change this year in natural green growth, you can tell the difference from the area I’ve been working on to where I left it alone. So I made a 1/2 acre section I call the test section when I’ve planted rye and cow peas to the clay to add organic matter and nitrogen. Thanks for the video

It certainly makes it more challenging having soil like that! That's awesome that you've seen an improvement already, I've planted cow peas in my unused and very sad section of the veggie patch hoping the roots will work their magic and then the organic matter will rot too.

Not sure if you've heard of the Greening the Desert project by Geoff Lawton. It may not be directly applicable, but I think there should be some ideas you can incorporate :) All the best! Hope your trials had some success - big and small

Hi thanks for sharing. Do you cut down the trees every year to make new crops? Mine grows year round and the oldest ones are now about 8 feet high
@LivingTheDreamPermaculture2 жыл бұрын
my climate is much cooler and the last few years they haven't survived our winters, so I need the height for them to beat the frost.

It depends on the year, I've had cooler than average summer the past 2 years but it is usually dec-feb for me

@@LivingTheDreamPermaculture Yes, it's November already and my pigeon pea plant has not flowered yet. I am hoping that it flowers soon before the cold weather comes in and possibly kill the tree.

Hi, your plant looks beautiful I started growing them this year, my plant is as big as yours, about 6 feet tall but has not flowers yet. We love to eat pigeon peas and I want to try them fresh right from the tree. Do they need another plant for pollination and how long does it take to produce. Can you send me some seeds? I will pay for the cost, I live in Texas.
@LivingTheDreamPermaculture4 жыл бұрын
They do not need another plant for pollination :) Unfortunately do to Australia's strict quarantine laws I don't think I would be able to send them :(

@@LivingTheDreamPermaculture Hello again, my pigeon peas plant is now 8 months old 8 ft tall and about 6 ft wide, no flowers yet it gets about 8 to 9 hours of sun everyday. If your pigeon peas plant produces in four months you must have "super charged seeds" there must be some place i can get some of your kind of seeds from maybe you can point me in the right direction. I live in Texas where the weather stays warm pretty much throughout the year, pigeon peas grow well here, i love to eat them while they are freshly picked from the tree still a little greenish.

@@jaivalnagindas8652 Thanks so much for the information. This is what i am curious about, if you live in Fl. then I believe that your Gandules, take about 9 to 10 months to begin flowering, they begin flowering as you said above Nov/Dec. however in Australia they claim that from seed to harvesting their glandules takes only four months, this is hard to believe unless they plant their Gandules in July and the Gandules grow quickly big enough to harvest in four months Nov/Dec time frame. I wonder if all gandules are the same or if they are different in Australia so I just ordered some gandules seeds from Australia, i will plant them next year once the cold has disappeared however i will start the seeds in house. Presently I have 3 gandules plants in my backyard which i planted in February one of them is a giant and the other two are still are pretty small i don't know why but it could be lots of reasons...what is your thought about the 4 month from seed to harvest in Australia? Gracias
@mdiazdiaz56124 жыл бұрын
@@jaivalnagindas8652 That's what i thought I guess my mind is clear now, she does not have super seeds she times them. I'd rather plant early to give the plant a chance to grow big and i can harvest lots of gandules. I will get back with you next month if my gandules flower. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. If you have any other info please share.

Sorry I just saw your other comment after the other person helped you out 😊 I don't have special seeds and like it was mentioned the seasons are reversed. My climate us considerably cooler than Florida from what I can gather. I'm down south which is the coldest part of Australia. My plants won't survive winter due to the frosts we get so I start my seed in early spring 😊

How long does the planrmt last once it blossoms.
@LivingTheDreamPermaculture4 жыл бұрын
The plant is a short lived perenniel so will continue to fruit for about 5 years.
