The Catechism in a Year (with Fr. Mike Schmitz)

Күн бұрын

This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB.
📖 Follow along with the official Catechism in a Year Reading Plan (AscensionPress...)
Looking at the prayer of the Hour of Jesus, we learn from the Catechism that it “embraces the whole economy of creation and salvation, as well as his death and Resurrection.” This prayer summarizes everything: “God and the world; the Word and the flesh; eternal life and time; the love that hands itself over and the sin that betrays it; the disciples present and those who will believe in him by their word; humiliation and glory. It is the prayer of unity.” Fr. Mike reiterates that this prayer from the Son to the Father allows us to pray as sons and daughters of Christ and give glory to the Father. Today’s readings are Catechism paragraphs 2746-2751.
Please note: The Catechism of the Catholic Church contains adult themes that may not be suitable for children - parental discretion is advised.
Ascension is committed to creating media that helps Catholics grow in their faith. Catechism in a Year promises to do just that - that’s why, no matter what, we’re making it. This podcast is free and always will be. But, we have limited resources. With funding from generous supporters like you, we can do even more than simply create the podcast. Would you consider supporting Ascension’s free media? tinyurl.com/2s.... No amount is too small!

I love John 17 : 20 & 21. It shows how much Jesus cares for not only those that were from His time but also for the people to come many years later. We can consider it as a living and a continuous prayer of Jesus that must be still benefiting all of us. It also shows that He could see the need for a prayer like this because of many trials that will be faced by humans all over the world. The emphasis on the importance of belief and trust in Jesus is also shown here. God wants the best for us and that belief is also seen here through Jesus. A great episode to watch repeatedly whenever we want to get reminded about the love and care that Jesus has for us. Thank you for this and your continuous work, Fr. Mike and Team Ascension. I'm praying for you and for the fellow listeners. God bless

The High Priestly pra❤yer of Jesus at the Last Supper (John Chp 17) is a beautiful prayer that Jesus, at 'his hour' utters to the Father. He wants his Father to be glorified and wants us to have eternal life - which is, to know the Father and his son Jesus Christ whom he has sent. Let Jesus' prayer become our prayer for unity of all Christians. Let's pray for our hearts to be like the heart of Jesus that begs the Father for 🤝 unity. 🙏 ❤ 🙏

The Prayer at the Hour of Jesus (John Ch 17) is called the priestly prayer of Jesus at the Last Supper. Jesus, the High Priest of the New Convenant, addresses it to His Father when the hour of His sacrifice, the hour of His "passing over" to Him, is approaching. Jesus wants His Father to be glorified. He longs for us to be one. 🙏

Let Jesus's prayer become our prayer and Jesus's heart that longs for unity to be our heart that longs for unity. Pray for the unity of all Christians. Once again, be united around one altar with one shepherd. Prayed for you, Fr. Mike, the Catechism in a Year Production team, Ascension Presents and everyone here in my Rosary and at Mass this morning. Hope you have a light-filled peaceful good week. John 17:25-26 Righteous Father, the world also does not know you, but I know you, and they know that you sent me. Amen Father! While it is a sad fact that we are divided, it is also sad that not all priests make it clear (especially at weddings and funerals) that receiving Communion is for Catholics who are in a state of grace. We recently went to a funeral in a neighboring parish and the priest delivered this message in a very gentle and loving way. When I later asked him to please repeat his words so I could pass them on to my pastor, he stated that "they came right from the Missal."

God give me strength as I struggle to provide for them. My faith in you is still strong! Even as I struggle to pay rent every month and I struggle to buy groceries for my children, I KEEP FAITH in you LORD. DAY 351 ( Third Sunday of Advent, Sunday December 17th, 2023 ) THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD AND ONE CHURCH. I am in love with the Traditional Latin Mass. I pray for the restoration of the TLM. They are trying to eliminate tradition which I am praying that it will not happen. Viva Cristo Rey. PATER NOSTER, qui es in caelis, sanctificetur nomen tuum. Adveniat regnum tuum. Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo et in terra. Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie, et dimitte nobis debita nostra sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris. Et ne nos inducas in tentationem, sed libera nos a malo. Amen. AVE MARIA, gratia plena, Dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc, et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen. Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto, sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper, et in saecula saeculorum. Amen. www.preces-latinae.org/season.html

@WashingtonDC Why are you introducing Church politics here? Spreading disunity? That is precisely why there is a process by which the TLM is being suspended. Not to "eliminate tradition" but to because it is being used as a weapon by those who want to spread disunity. "Obedience is better than sacrifice." There is nothing "sacred" about one language over another. You are making a false god out of the language. Kinda similar to how Protestants make a false god out of the Bible itself. It is precisely because the TLM has been weaponized by "rad-trads" that it is being suppressed. Were it not weaponized, this wouldn't have happened. The "rad-trads" have brought this on themselves.

@@dianefrank3688 I used think that too, Diane. But I will not worship a language or a form of worship, especially when it is used to create division among faithful Catholics. The best Catholics like the TLM. You, WashingtonDC above, StAlphonsus. But it is being used to divide the Church. The pope has to be concerned about unity. Two different forms of worship looks like it is leading to two different Churches and schism. Were that not the case, then there would be no issue with TLM. Which had its own problems back in the day. People were disconnected with what was going on. Not present in the moment. Honest question. Can Fr Mike be more reverent in how he celebrates the Novus Ordu?
@dianefrank3688
@dianefrank3688 Жыл бұрын
@@jamesmcgrath3841 I respect your opinion, but how can the language I grow up with as a child and the language of the saints all of a sudden be forced out. All the TLM wants is to be left to worship as the Roman church has done for thousands of years. I myself am limited to how far I can drive and there isn't a TLM in my area. My N.O. mass is said by a retired traditional priest. However my niece lives in Chicago and has to be very careful were she attends the N.O. mass and sometimes has to walk out. Some of the masses in Chicago have two gay readers, different words being thrown into the consecration(which makes it invalid) There was no division when all the masses were in Latin in the past. ❤🙏
