I love how the writer of Hebrews compares the Old Law to the New Covenant in Jesus. It gives such a clear picture of this gift of Salvation. Thank you Jesus that you are the once and for all sacrifice!

As this year is coming to an end, I find myself looking back over the spiritual growth I've been blessed with. It will be a year in February that my husband left to ve with the Lord. As the matriarch of the family, I am lead to bring our children & grandchildren close to Him. I feel Him working in me with this. I pray He continues to do so in this upcoming year. I thank TLC & all of the Bible Recap staff for teaching me & helping to bring me closer to Him. Thank You, Lord. Merry Christmas to all.

‭Hebrews‬ ‭9: 27‭-‬28‬ ‭is a bold proclamation. It says, "And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him." Jesus Christ, our Great High Priest, did not come from the line of Levi, a human priesthood that could not save humanity. Instead, he came from the line of Judah, the order of Melchizedek. In order to be saved, we must accept Jesus Christ as Savior while we are alive. This tells the importance of sharing the gospel with others. The new covenant is so powerful! The blood of Jesus was the final sacrifice to atone for sins, once for all. Praise His holy name!

This is one of the most theologically rich passages and teachings we’ve had this year, and it’s actually shocking how clear the OT in Ps 110 and Ps 40 and Jer 31 state how the Messiah will complete the law (about which TLC says that it identifies sin, but cannot change hearts), and make a New Covenant that can and does change our hearts-not just our behavior. How many neighbors and coworkers do I have that believe “I’m a good person, and don’t need Jesus to be good”? Being good doesn’t deliver wholeness and peace and purpose, but being made a new creation, right with God does! (See the latest musical “Spirited” on what it looks like to try to redeem yourself through good works!)

My God Shot today is in 10:12-"But when Christ has offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God." A single sacrifice... The one and only sacrifice that would be a sweet aroma to the Father for the remission of sins. He is satisfied with the offering of His Son and no other offering would ever be accepted again. We only need to trust that Jesus being the sacrifice for our sins has satisfied God and He is our only access to eternal life (John 14:6). Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father. The work is complete! We are free from sin through Jesus Christ our Savior! Thank You! He really is where the joy is!

I like this quote from Jer 33 ”For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall not teach, each one his neighbor and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.“ ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭8‬:‭10‬-‭11‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Yes! I loved this verse back when we first read it so it was surreal reading it in this context this time; it makes so much sense now! “He will put the law in our minds and write it on our hearts! ie: The Holy Spirit!!!!!!!! He loves us so much we will never comprehend how he had this all perfectly planned out from the beginning of time!!! 😢❤

I'm not sure it was with fault, or a temporary planned covenant, since God had it all set for a true Savior to walk among us.

After reading this i believe that Jesus's sacrifice has perfected me for all time and that I have no sins that I have to ask forgiveness for each day. Because of Jesus sacrifice I can pray directly to God because I have no sins. I pray to thank Him for my forgiveness and to praise Him for his mercy and all that He has done for me.

Hebrews‬ ‭9:13‭-‬15‬ ‭NLT‬‬ [13] Under the old system, the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer could cleanse people’s bodies from ceremonial impurity. [14] Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins. [15] That is why he is the one who mediates a new covenant between God and people, so that all who are called can receive the eternal inheritance God has promised them. For Christ died to set them free from the penalty of the sins they had committed under that first covenant.
