Psalm 119 v130 The unfolding of your words gives light. Psalm 119 v133 Direct my footsteps according to your word. Highlighted these two verses because I have just come back from a funeral of a very dear lady of 91, she was so inspirational to me, and many others judging by the amount of people who attended today. Her life was one of utter devotion to others, having never married, she involved herself in missionary work, hosting foreign students and in order to help them with their English would get them reading the Bible, she even smuggled bibles into one country. Her life could be summed up by these two verses, she allowed the scriptures to illuminate her life and most certainly followed the direction of the Holy Spirit. In all my years of being a Catholic I have never thought of praying for our priests. I can see now why we need to do so. They are representing our Lord, Jesus Christ whenever they hear our confessions, baptize our children, etc. I’m glad to know this and shall pray for the priests in my parish and any other churches I visit, and for you Father Mike. It's a great episode which shows the importance of holy life for those serving God. Also, it shows how everyone is a human, can fail, and yet God will forgive if one repents. The Lord loves us already. Let us pray that He seeks us out and runs after us, and we allow Him to love us. I have not commented in any of the videos in these 45 days and being honest with myself Fr. Mike I don't think you will see this lol but if you do... I just wanted to tell you something that excites me at this moment. Day 44 you read Exodus 27-28 and there were descriptions of the robes for the priest and I was picturing it in my mind. Well today while watching The choosen the opening scene of S2E6 was of a priest in his clothing with the metal on his chest containing the 12 stones. Today on Day 45 in your closing statements you asked the lord to bring back his lost sheep and in that same episode which ofcourse it is artistic liberties but a powerful scene to me none the less is when Simon and Matthew bring Mary (Magdalene) to Jesus after he sends them to find her. Which was just so symbolic of the love he has for us.. even when we go astray he calls us back and welcomes us with open arms.

Father Mike this one is for you. Psalm 91 v14 -16 "Because he loves me" says the Lord "I will rescue him I will protect him because he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation," The whole of this Psalm is very powerful, I prayed it so often during Covid. May God continue to bless all that you do, you do have such a high calling, just know there are folks out here who lift you in prayer, as you said at the end of last year, we are running this race together, some of us may be dawdling at the back, myself included some days, but if we cheer each other on, that finishing line is ours.

Seven sisters apostolate is a prayer program for Parish priests- seven people commit to pray for one hour each week in front of the tabernacle- I have been doing this for several years for our priest- what a powerful prayer for our priests!!!

Yes Father Mike you are so right - Priests needs our prayers. We have a group were we offer the Divine Mercy Chaplet, Golden Arrow Prayers etc, for priests on a daily basis - its like a prayer bank for priests. Fr Mike you are in my prayers and all the priests whom I knew and know, to whom I confessed, Baptised me, gave me my First Holy Communion, all Sacraments. I thank God for priests - and Holy Mass. While praying Psalm 119 - last lines - I could see Jesus looking in a desert for lost sheep - including myself. He was gathering all the sheep, and He past me - I looked up at Him - and nearly broke my heart because I was not picked up - but He turned looked at me and like a good Shepherd He whistled at me - and I ran into His arms. So nice to be in the arms of JESUS.

I also pray for those becoming Priests, Religious and Sisters. This podcast as well as the one for the Catechism in a Year is a great thing for me as I am a convert. I pray that Dundee Michigan can get a priest so that the church can reopen. The people of Dundee where I grew up need a priest dear God they are currently closed and have to commute to Ida Michigan to go to church which is not feasible for everyone especially in the winter. Thank you Father Mike Schmitz, for being an incredible Priest, proclaiming and spreading the Lord's Word through this Bible in a Year Podcast! I am truly grateful for all that you have done and you are in my prayers. Exodus 29 shows God instructing the Israelites how to consecrate priests. Over the course of seven days, Aaron and his sons would make a variety of offerings to consecrate the altar and make it holy. God would meet with the Israelites in the tent of meeting (the Tabernacle) and dwell among them so that they will know God is the Lord. As you said, God wants us all to be holy and priests most of all as leaders in worship. Thus, we should pray that the many Priests of the world righteously serve and glorify God. Leviticus 21 tells some of God's specific laws about priests. Among them are the Laws that priests are forbidden from touching dead bodies, forbidden from imitating pagans, and forbidden from marrying a defiled or divorced woman (later in the Catholic Church priests would not be allowed to marry in general). The high priest is given extra responsibilities. Priests should not have defects for they would prevent them from ministering worship. Once again, God shows His desire for people of worship to be holy as He is holy, and this is especially true for priests. Psalm 119: 121-176 finishes this incredibly long Psalm of David. It starts with a prayer for protection from oppression of the proud. We seek salvation in the Lord's statutes as servants of the Lord. We plea for Him to act for we know he is Right. His Word gives us light. We look to the Word for God's mercy, God's dominion, God's redemption, and God's shining statutes. We feel sorrow and pity for those who reject the Lord for God is truly Righteous. God's Law is Truth and it gives us life and understanding in times of anguish. We cry out to the Lord to save us. God's Word and testimonies are eternal. We seek a new life in the Lord's Word. Even in the face of treachery we must not turn from the Word. God's Word is a great treasure and fills us with awe. Obedience to the Lord gives us peace. We seek deliverance and understanding in the Word. God's Word is truly our delight and our salvation. The final verse of Psalm 119 is probably my favorite from the whole prayer: "I have gone astray like a lost sheep; Seek Your servant, For I do not forget Your commandments." There are many points in life where I have felt lost and alone. I am truly grateful to God for constantly pulling me back to the path of righteousness when I have gone astray. Thanks be to God! Almighty and Eternal Father, As the Creator of all divine and majestic gifts, you gave your children the Holy gift of your chosen- your priests! The world knows not generally even a fraction of the weight of their cross, nor its size, though through your grace- I do! I beg your protection, mercy, strength and ALL VIRTUES to flow abundantly through all of your priests from the ocean of your mercy! Oh Immaculata enkindle in the hearts of all your children the Flame of Love for all priests and employ your blue army to protect and defend them. I pray for the families of priests, as that sacrifice is also not understood by the world. I pray for their strength and that you fill their hearts with all they miss from the sacrifice of their holy priest who is in the world yet not at all of it! Assist the families as well as the priests in the death to self, as well as the world and the mourning of the families and grant the families of priests understanding of the demands of a priest. Mother Mary and St. Joseph as well as St. John Vianney I beg you to stand in between every priest and the devil in battle and have all your priests victor over all their temptations! I pray for you to gather the souls of every priest from Purgatory and welcome them into your kingdom! Please reward them for their lives of service and sacrifice, but most of all LOVE- remembering they are human. I plead for you to be with your priests at the hour of their death and comfort them when they are sick, as they do your children. I beg you lastly to make all of your priests great saints, and that each of the lambs in their flocks are aided and properly taught by your shepherds how to become great saints as well. Thank you. There are such strong similarities between the ancient rites and riruals of Israel, and the contemporary Catholic church. The instuctions given in ancient times were so specific, as are the rituals today. It is easy to see how a priest, then or now, could get lost in performing the ritual, and not recognize the true face of God. I pray your heart is always open to truth, that you are reachable, and teachable. And that you get plenty of rest, good nutrition, and enjoy free time outdoors!
