Good luck to you Patrick I like these videos. I just reached 2,000 after nearly 4 years of playing. It wasn’t easy since I’m in law school now and wasn’t able to study and play as often as I wanted, but consistency and a mindset for improvement like what you’re showing will get you there one day guaranteed!

And man that feeling when you cross it is like nothing else. It’s a true testament to your ability to challenge yourself and overcome adversity! Can’t wait for you to feel that 👊

I'm pretty sure you hung that knight on d7 twice to a discovered attack. Good game, though. Intense.

Also, I thought his bishop could be trapped by playing g4 on move 9.

@@baka1949 yeah, he even mentioned that before playing Ng6 and then played it anyway... Not too often you get away with hanging pieces three separate times at 1400 level.

Hi Patrick, the biggest gap I see in your play after sometimes blundering pieces (we all do it up to say 2000 lol) is endgames. You were recently in a drawn king and pawn end game but didnt know it. Put any position of 2 kings and 1 pawn and I can tell you if its drawn within 10 seconds. within 3 seconds if its not an A or H pawn. Then you need some principles and practice with rook endgames plus a pawn and minus a pawn and other basic principles. This is a major way I win games. I get a pawn up and I defend and I have everything defended and I get my king to the center before my opponent does. And If I don't, my end games can often draw a position that you would lose based on your recent play (no offense). And some of these things are rules you dont even need to think about, so they can be played in time trouble easily.

My heart was in my throat in the last half! How you remain calm is a superpower, I'm glad you don't do the shrieky name calling so many do. Keep going!

Patrick you have a mental block about developing your a8 rook. In game after game you leave it behind and start moving other pieces twice, even boasting about completing your development while doing so.

I have thought about this too. The a-rook is very often on it's original square for the majority of the game. It's a powerful piece to just leave out.

Now during my games, I have your voice in my head saying, 'focus on development' :) Thanks for sharing Patrick! I'm enjoying this journey

Generally speaking, the bishop is worth slightly more than a knight. The two bishops as a pair are particularly powerful. Avoid trading down your bishops early in the game with no significant compensation.

why move the knight first to block your bishop? Why not pin with the bishop, then get your knight out?

I know you are good at the game, but bro, you're not Magnus Carlsen, stop trying to exchange queens.
@sardendibs
@sardendibs 14 күн бұрын
That’s usually a good tactic if you’re up material. It simplifies the position and increases your relative advantage. You don’t have to be Carlsen.
