Tom's Brook Farm

Tom's Brook Farm

Күн бұрын

Today we battle with a thunderstorm from last night and then the thunderstorm that keep coming throughout the day. We have Summers on hand now so he is in the chaser and JH is able to move all the bins to the new site!
Now Tom's Brook is doing Movember so we encourage all you to donate! Even if it's only $2 it's all going to a good cause! And of course there is the chance to win a hat or stubby holder.
2 hats going to the top donors
2 hats going to two random donors
4 stubbie holders going to four random donors
So you need to donate for a chance to win it!!!

Should set the moisture machine up on the back of your ute with a generator it would save a lot of time and driving

So how did those field bins get dents in them? Did that happen during moving or something else? I would imagine they could get pretty unstable in the right wind when you're travelling alone. Love your video's. Big thanks!

Should weld a hitch to the back of the feild bin so you can tow the auger behind when moving

You’ll have to get another couple of those 100 tonners. Shifting those bins and augers must be a pain in the ar•••.

Yep that’s definitely what I am thinking too. Only problem is I need to find a tractor to go on the new bin 🤔

Great vids, how come you don't use a portable moisture meter.
@tomsbrookfarm
@tomsbrookfarm 9 ай бұрын
We have tried them in the past but there is just to much variability in them to rely on them. With our moisture fluctuating so much it’s easier to have a large calibrated unit that I know I can rely on. I’m happy to do the driving to make sure my moisture is correct 👍

Do you cover field bins when it’s raining or just leave them

Tom question for you, why don't you have the tester in the back of your car. Instead of tripping back to the farm. That's wasting time.
@tomsbrookfarm
@tomsbrookfarm 9 ай бұрын
Couple of reasons, the unit needs to be on a flat surface with constant power, if you drive around with them you will cause the calibration to go out and it won’t be useful. The second is that it’s a hire unit that is meant to be in a central location for other farmers to come and use. There are three other farmers who come and use the unit at my shed so it wouldn’t be fair to them if it had it with me out in the paddock the whole time

To own a farm, yes very hard. To work on one like Henry has done, very easy! There is nearly a kiwi on every farm come harvest and seeding!
