📖 Follow along with the official Bible in a Year Reading Plan: tinyurl.com/ye...
Fr. Mike encourages us to look at how we can increase our generosity to God and neighbor, inspired by the sacrificial offerings of Israel. Our readings for today are Exodus 37-38, Leviticus 26, and Psalm 82.
We hear everyday from our community how The Bible in a Year helps to capture hearts and souls for Christ. While we’re happy to make it free to our audience, it’s not free to create! It takes a significant investment to produce the podcast and distribute it free-of-cost to the public. You can make a gift of financial support to help defray these costs and enable us to keep bringing evangelizing digital media to all those searching for God: tinyurl.com/ye... Thank you for your support.

I’ personally am not in a good place right now with Jesus. I am listening to Fr. Mike and praying to follow. I feel that God is always testing us. I lost my husband and my son. I feel that that He is always testing and pushing our free will. Forgive me . But I am angry it seems like the more you believe the more he tests you

I feel an inner divine calling to share this with you, and I've never sent such a message as this online. I'm not comparing our situations, for the loss of a child is the greatest suffering of all, which our Blessed Mother certainly understands. I pray I don't say too much. We're taught suffering is to endure it in union with the suffering of Jesus, but at some moments in my suffering and significant losses, I've found myself in despair, depressed, angry, and heartbroken. I feel it's normal to be angry. Please be gentle with yourself. I'm in the middle of the 54-Day Rosary Novena with Journey Deeper on KZbin, and the rosary novena is bringing me peace and understanding beyond my understanding amid many losses. I will complete my novena remembering you and your intentions. I know the Blessed Mother, in her motherly love, will increase your trust in God's loving care, peace, strength, and healing. May Jesus tenderly hold you ever so close to His Most Sacred Heart today and always! God Bless. @@MonaMonatte ♥

I felt the same way after my baby nephew passed away tragically. I found him. Thought I saved his life even got his heart started again. He passed away 12 hours later. The miracle wasn't him living. It was him living long enough for everyone to say goodbye. We are mortally broken which is why we cannot live eternal in human form. We live eternal when we meet our father. Stay strong and thank God for the blessings.

Interestingly I had an office conversation about giving last week, my colleague said that she was sick and tired or rich people appealing for money ,when they should use their own money to alleviate the suffering, as they were better off than us. I tried to point out that we are all responsible to help where we can, it starts with us, a bit like water off a ducks back, not sure she was convinced ! I have also noticed some people are more likely to give to animal charities than human suffering, not sure why that is.

A great analysis of the beauty of God’s temple and also an important fact about how our churches are understaffed and underfunded. We need to be as generous as possible so that the Church continues to function. Even if it's giving some food, clothes etc. During some charity initiatives by our local church or by volunteering at church, and even better, by entering into the ministry if life's calling is to serve God instead of marriage or normal job. God is like a parent who would not punish us for fun but to help us correct our ways and be on the path that leads to happiness and salvation. Whenever we feel like life is not fair towards us, we must remember how God blessed Abraham, Joseph (of the Old Testament), Moses, and Job despite hardships. We need to trust God. Thank you so much, Fr Mike and Team Ascension. God bless you and the fellow listeners

So many doubt the Eucharist as being the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ yet believe in the devil's ability to do most anything. Where is the logic in that? Lord, I thank You for this precious Gift of Holy Communion. I thank You for coming to me in such an intimate and perfect way. Help me to always be obedient to Your command to receive You faithfully. And each time I am privileged to receive You, help me to be fully attentive to Your divine presence. Jesus, I trust in You.❤❤❤

I often go to mass early so that I can pray before the tabernacle. I no longer do this as the talking is so intense that one cannot even pray let alone meditate. Ours is a mission church so everyone comes from a distance of many different directions. We do not have an annex, but enter directly into the main church. I believe that if there was an annex people would talk there before entering the actual church. I can see why people want to greet and visit each other, but I keep remembering the words from Fatima, that Jesus is much offended by the indifference, outrages, and sacrileges. How must He feel when He is present in the tabernacle and everyone seems to ignore that fact. Sorry for laying my own grief on you. Please pray for my mission church of good people, that we will remember that God is with us when we walk into the main part of the church where the tabernacle is present. Thanks ❤🙏🙏🙏❤

@@dianefrank3688 Have you mentioned your thoughts to your priest? Do others feel the same as you about the distraction? Does your priest condone this talking so that people who want to meditate can do so. He needs to remind them that they are in the presence of Jesus in the Tabernacle. Not having an annex or vestibule makes things difficult, I agree. He needs to remind the congregation that this is not the place to carry on visiting. Things have changed everywhere, but most observe silence. I remember my home parish growing up, there was NEVER any conversation in the church. May God be with You.
@dianefrank3688
@dianefrank3688 7 ай бұрын
@@hotconcrete Thank you for your response. I didn't mention it to the priest as he has stated for silence once or twice over the last two years. Our priest travels on a busy HWY for 20mi from the other church and is sometimes just getting here at mass time. Confession is out of the question as he is never here for that. We now have to make an appointment at the other church for confession. I usually go to the city once a month now so that I can do the First Friday and Frist Sat. I am always in fear that our church will be closed as the shortage of priest increases. Our priest is in his late 70's and gives a very reverent mass. I think I should just count my blessings and leave it at that. I am doing the 33day Consecration to the Holy Eucharist by Matthew Kelly and I think reading it at this time as made me more aware of the indifference to the Lord in the tabernacle.❤🙏

@@dianefrank3688I agree. The same thing happens in our church, the chatting before mass should be reserved to outside the church. Reverence in the church is badly needed.

@@janicemulry8140 It is so sad. I remember as a child the church was silent except for the cry of a young child or baby. I think the priest needs to remind the congregation occasionally that as long as the light is on Jesus is truly present in the tabernacle❤🙏

Lord Jesus, I humbly pray for myself, Father Mike, and all the people participating in the Bible-in-Year podcast. May your word take deep root in our hearts and transform our ways of thinking, deciding, and acting. May your grace open our ears to hear and understand the word of God in the Scriptures that we may revere and treasure both the Old and the New Testaments which God has prepared for all who desire to enter his kingdom. Send us your Holy Spirit to give us the Spirit of Knowledge, that we may know God and know ourselves. Help us to be diligent students and faithful disciples of your word. I sing in a tiny choir at a church and I get upset and sad because I hear people singing so well in the pews and they could come up and volunteer and help the choir become great, but everytime we announce that we need more singers, nobody shows up. I know we are not entitled to anyone's time, but people keep complaining about Catholic music, but only few are trying to improve music ministry. Of course if you are tone deaf and absolutely bad at singing, you could always learn and retrain your mind and vocals, but if not, they you don't have to join, do something else. lol.

Today marks 50 days of the Bible in a Year podcast. Thank you Fr. Mike for always going above and beyond to spread the Word of the Lord. Exodus 37 shows Bezalel constructing the ark of the Covenant, the altar, the lampstand, the bread of presence, and more according to God's instructions. Exodus 38 shows Bezalel constructing the altar of burnt offering and the associated utensils according to the Lord's instructions. He also assembles the Tabernacle's court and an embroidered screen for it. Oholiab assists him in these tasks. As you said, having a visual aid to understand what is being described in these chapters really helps. Like many things in these Books, the Tabernacle symbolizes how God wants us to be holy as he is holy and to set ourselves apart in order to worship the Lord as he intended. Leviticus 26 tells more of the Lord's Commandments. He instructs them never to worship idols for themselves and instead to revere Him, the Lord. He promises to bless obedient Israelites with plentiful harvests and victories. He blesses them with abundance and freedom. In contrast, he curses the disobedient among Israel with fear and weakness, lesser harvests, and wild beasts. He curses the disobedient with famine, disease, death, and exile. He also promises to restore Israelites who repent for their sins to their former glory. In this way, their Covenant is unbreakable and eternal. Thanks be to God! Psalm 82 is a Psalm of Asaph. God confronts unjust judges who show partiality to the wicked. He commands them to defend the poor and uphold justice. He exposes their foundations as unstable. He pronounces His Divine Judgment on the unjust judges and promises they will die and fall eventually. Thus, we pray to the Lord that He will inherit all nations. Day 50 - 2/19/2022

Lord, Compel our hearts with your compassion and mercy to give generously. We thank you for calling us back to yourself and using our circumstances to show us our need for you. You are our rescuer and redeemer. We praise you for your tenderness towards us, no matter how great our rebellion, when we come back to you. 🙏🏻

Just amazing is the style of readings as well as reflections of Fr Mike on those readings everyday. Speed of delivery a bit fast but I am enjoying it by adjusting it to 0.75 of the normal speed. Fr Mike is closer to us when he frankly admits the limitations of this podcast. Best wishes and our prayers are always with you, dear Fr.

The first time through Leviticus, I didn't pick up how clearly this predicts the Babylonian captivity later in the Old Testament.
