I am SO enjoying your Camino and having watched all the way to here, I wanted to thank you for all the hard work you have put into making your vlogs. I walked from SJPP to Burgos in September 2018 and stopped at that point due to leg problems. Hoping to return this May. You had a great albergue at the end of this day. They are absolutely fantastic in the way they meet all the needs of pilgrims. The sleeping isn’t the greatest at times but they make everything else so easy and I have fond memories of staying in them. I’m a total convert because, before I left home, my strategy was to try and avoid them. I shall now resume my binge watching! Thanks again.

I am getting ready to Walk El Camino for 2023 with a few friends. I also have plantar fasciitis so I can relate at so many levels, you are an inspiration. I will stop watching this journey because I want to go back to your “getting ready” series. Thanks.

I am enjoying your Vlogs very much. Such great memories of my own CF two years ago. You may have resolved your ankle issue by now, but I found that Voltaren Emulgel works very well for inflammation. Apply it three times a day. It comes in a yellow and white tube and is sold at any pharmacy. Anyway thanks for sharing your journey and Buen Camino.

Thank you! My ankle good now! 😃👍 Taping it really helped as did the ibuprofen. Never picked up the Voltaren, but I know it works wonders. 👣😊

When I was walking to Los Arcos, the views out in the distance of Cirauqui were one of my favorites. Probably the best drone footage I got. Wow the church was closed... You could get your stamp there when it opens.
@IllGetThere5 жыл бұрын
Just gorgeous, isn’t it? I just accept the fact that many churches will be closed when I walk through and there are so many places to see where I can get a stamp. 😊👣
@BDETravels5 жыл бұрын
IllGetThere Yes, you are right. I always looked for the churches. Time alone with the Lord had more meaning to me there that out in the road. The. Camino is beautiful indeed! Ultreia peregrina!

You are walking through postcards! So beautiful! The rice dish you were eating looked really enticing when it was served. Thanks for your vlogs. I'm really enjoying them. How is your water carrier working out? How much do you carry in a day? What selfie stick are you using? Sorry for all the questions. I hope your ankle is feeling better.

Thank you so much! My Velcro system decided to self-destruct after the first week or so and my friend had a spare so that’s what I’ve been using. 😊👍 If you’re curious about gear lists, check out my packing list video. I haven’t had a chance to add links to products but will do so when I return. The camera stuff is towards the end. Thanks so much for following along!! 😊😂👣

I hope you will consider staying at the alburgue in Granon. It is primitive and rustic but the hosts really do make everyone feel at home and the communal dinner was one of the best I have ever had. If you are handy at cooking you can help out in the kitchen.
@IllGetThere5 жыл бұрын
I did! 😊👣 I’m currently just outside León (slow to upload because of WiFi) but I loved my stay at Grañon and Tosantos. Both had communal dinner prep and evening prayer services. Wonderful, enriching experiences. 👍

After you pass Leon you will be presented with a choice of taking the route that continues on the road or the alternative. I have taken both and I will never take the one on the road again. You cant go wrong by taking the alternative. It is peaceful and a lot prettier than the route that takes you through the town of Virgen de Camino and beyond. Good luck and buen camino.

Thank you for the tip! I will certainly take a look at the map and consider this. 😊👍👣

SIESTA !, Well it's not really a siesta time. Store hours in Spain (at least the small ones) are established for workers to work 8 hours, they have to be distributed by the day: they open at 9 AM until 2 PM, reopen at 5 PM and close at 8 PM or alike, so they have much of the day open, think many stores have too few staff to take care of and take turns. Buen Camino :)

It’s the one thing that I never really got used to because the pilgrim schedule is so different. But it was a good exercise in patience, lol! Buen Camino! 👣

The over the counter ibuprofen here in the US is 200 mg per tablet so keep that in mind when u r doing price comparisons, but yeah, pilgrim pricing for sure.
@rhunl4 жыл бұрын
Ibuprofen in Spain is crazy expensive compared to the UK. I took 4 packs of 16 pills and that was just over a pound, rather than the same for 8 pills in Spain. Really enjoying your vlog, still think you were probably less than a week ahead of me!
@IllGetThere4 жыл бұрын
Yes, expensive! I bought some just in case, but didn’t end up needing them at all so I’m glad I could share with other pilgrims who needed relief!!

My wife and I walked the Camino in Sept/Oct 2018. We found it so frustrating when it was 5:30 PM and we were starving and we couldn’t get anything to eat. One time, in Astorga, I walked into a restaurant, hoping for something to eat. “Señor, we are very hungry. Can we eat dinner?” His response: a shrug of the shoulders and the reply: “No, this is Spain. Come back at 8.” Thank God for the middle-eastern guys with the kebab restaurants. They saved us from starvation a few times. Also, I have to admit going to KFC and Burger King on occasion in order to survive.

I understand! It’s still a challenge to adjust even after walking for 3 weeks and knowing the schedule. I just make sure I have some snacks around to carry me through those times. Yesterday I was so hungry I ate everything I had, lol!!

I enjoyed this video but I have to say it - stealing grapes from the farmers is just plain wrong - they are growing them for their business and last year alone over 350,000 pilgrims hiked the camino - imagine the effect of these little pickings must have on his business!! So disappointed.
