Congrats on the 900 miles!! Great incredible views as usual. I'll miss Boujee. Somewhere will hopefully stick around for a bit. About misquotes this is what I do: One thing I used to do is wash my clothes with Downy the fabric softener and wear those clothes camping. I never got bothered by misquotes. Everyone around me did, but they always left me alone. On one backpacking trip some of our group hiked back out to go to the nearest store to buy Downy dryer sheets. They put the sheets all over their bodies, stuffed them in pockets and in their hats, anywhere they could. The misquotes quit bothering bothering them after that. Something to think about. Downy Dryer Sheets, I swear by them.!!! Loving the feelings thing! That made me laugh! You're adorable RR!! -Shybee

Congrats, Julianne, on over 900 miles. Wow, that is totally awesome that you and your tramily have accomplished this. The views in the Sierra have been phenomenal. Loved your lunch spot. The reflection of the snow covered mountains in the still lake are beautiful. I had a feeling ya'll would have 1 more river crossing before camp. Ya'll are all killing the Sierra. Be sure and tell Somehere it was good to see her again. Also, tell her I love her hat. Too cool. Ya'll take care. Stay safe. See you tomorrow.

The California state dance is West Coast Swing. It was invented there. You could teach an intro to WCS to tramily if Boujee and Bird Call are interested. On the AT only women were interested. The men were just spectators.

You might want to consider letting go of the whole start walking at 4AM thing. Especially because of CREEKS crossings :) in the dark. It is quite a bad move. There is hardly any snow, definitely not enough to force such an early start.

Seems like they were setting up for getting into Mammoth early the next day
@Yetithruhikes7 ай бұрын
@@larkangel6593 it might be that. But safety comes before getting early to Mammoth. Also, they finished at 4:30PM. Starting at 5:30AM instead of 4AM should not change anything for getting to Mammoth the next morning.

Earlier in your videos you said the AT was harder than the PCT, after all of these river crossings, would you still say that? I’m debating which trail would be better for me! Love that the tramily is together again!
@campoljato7 ай бұрын
"Harder" or "better" are going to be fairly subjective. They're very different trails with regard to topography, climate, logistics, "trail culture," etc. Certain stereotypes exist, probably with some merit. I'd recommend you spend 7-10 days (or more 😎) hiking a section of both and see which you enjoy more. Unless you like solitude, in which case, the CDT/GDT are calling 😂.
@ducaticanine7 ай бұрын
Love the vids! .... i literally do NOT understand or comprehend how you and the 100s of others that do this trail (or the AT) can do this. How on earth can you hike 15-20 miles nearly every single day for months and months..With a ton of elevation gain/loss. cross passes (some very shady and dangerous).. raging rivers. Tons of weight on your back the entire trip. How is this all possible?? Both mentally and physically?? I'm super confused. I assume it takes very unique, special people to be able to do some long thru hikes. damn
@michel.h_cf997 ай бұрын
Our body can do much more than we think. And gets used to the every day walking. Thru-hiking is primarily a mental game. Those who finish are often not the fittest or the fastest.
@ducaticanine7 ай бұрын
@@michel.h_cf99 so who are these special folk who have something mentally that most do not? :)
@Yetithruhikes7 ай бұрын
@@ducaticanine The ones willing to step out of their comfort zone and have an adventure in the unknown. That's why also a lot of people quit. They are not able to do that. There is a vast difference between romanticizing an adventure like the PCT in our thoughts and actually hiking it. It is a mental challenge, not really a physical one. At least not the PCT.
@michel.h_cf997 ай бұрын
@@ducaticanine In the end, it is those who dare to try and go out there. In my opinion, nobody can predict to finish or not before.

That was the seasonal waterfall going over the trail on the way up to Silver pass Looks dramatic but it's not really (relative) that dangerous ie theres no real drop off or current. Now, those creeks (bear, mono, fish, woods, et al) are truly dangerous. Mono (draining into Edison) is definitely impossible, hence the bridge. Same with fish at high water. Bear and S Fork Kings (before Mather) are interesting in that both the park and forest service decided against either an official reroute or bridge.
@campoljato7 ай бұрын
@@larkangel6593 Re: The bridges. I'm curious what their reasoning was...perhaps a budget dispute?
@larkangel65937 ай бұрын
@@campoljatomy guess is both s fork kings and bear have 'smallish' watersheds that produce a lot of snow melt, then go (relatively) quiet Or, maybe the terrain is the key factor. All the bridges are in canyons, whereas bear and s fork kings are more wide open with multiple braids further upstream Same situation as French creek (the route down piute back to the pct), where there can be dozens of ribbons and channels
