Day 77 of my 2023 Appalachian Trail thru-hike! On day 77, I hiked from Front Royal, VA (mile 972.1) VA 55 (mile 980.3). In total, I hiked 8.2 miles.

Usually that is all you see of bears, their back side as they run away. I love Front Royal. Not only is it a neat Virginia community, but it is also the northern terminus of the Skyline Drive!
