My migraines are brought on mostly by dehydration. When I'm heavy on electrolytes, I don't have them. It's worth a try.

First off, glad you stopped off in NYC and enjoyed yourself, there's a poem about how when you reach your goal, they can't pay you there, you pay yourself by the riches you receive along the way, very cool you hit Times Square and the American Museum of Natural History. Sick is sick. One can get "little" bugs that tire you out and give you headaches. Not a doctor but probably drink lots of water, you did the best thing, find a room, turn on the air conditioning and lay down. A vlog where everything turns out great would be boring. Paradoxically, these vlogs are enjoyable not because of the trail, but how through-hikers handle the trail.

Gabby, Always listen to your body...always and on another note always trust your instincts. I will be glad when you are hiking with somebody again... You are doing this for you not us...none of us could come even close to accomplishing all that you have accomplished! Hoping that you feel better soon and this migraine disappear.

Don't apologize. It makes it more real for us viewers. I hope you are feeling better soon. Take care of yourself. I occasionally have migraines myself and cannot function until they are gone. I think dehydration plays a part in mine.

Happy Day 90! Wishing you healthier days ahead. What you have achieved and what you do is commendable. No doubt hiking alone has been more difficult. Nature has thrown bugs, rocks, roots, rain and water crossings at you. Yet, Bravo👏🏻 you persevered. You have accepted misery and embraced success as a reward. Cheers to you. Be well. Be safe. Hoping you have pleasant moments to ponder as comfort. Happy Trails!

Some days be like that. I got migraines prior to starting the trail, so I recognized them on my thruhike. Which removed an element of uncertainty, but not the suffering. You can pick up some Excedrin at a store, or take together aspirin, tylenol, and caffeine for the same effect. Personally I find that real Coca Cola (i.e. not diet), if it's available, is helpful. The next day also sucks because you can't eat much when you're nauseated, then you're tired because you didn't eat.

You're not only a trooper but a smart trooper. You push yourself to get through hard times but you wisely stop when you think it is best. I'm wondering if you are drinking or eating now that is causing your migraine? I'm not a medical person. Just speculating. Take care. 🚶‍♀️👍🏻🙂

Hope you feel better soon. Take care of yourself and then worry about the trail. Maybe if you weren't hiking by yourself so much it might keep you from getting headaches and worrying alot. Plus I'm glad that you went to the hotel and were not out their where that strange was was, that would just scare me to death. Take care of yourself first and get better soon

Hope you get to feeling better soon! Have you been tested for Lyme disease? Also you might want to try a back adjustment from an Osteopath or chiropractor. I had headaches for 6 to 8 months straight everyday and was suggested to try an older Chiropractor in our area. I had 2 prior accidents when I was younger and it was pinching in my neck. He said it would probably take a month or 2 to correct it but it was only a couple of weeks before they were gone. Your carrying a lot of weight and using your upper body alot so it could be part tension or muscle strain as well. Good luck to you, I hope you can figure it out. 🙏

I've got two daughters about your age, so please accept my hug of encouragement! Been following you since last year, and want you to know you never need to apologize for honesty. There is a remote possibility that your headaches are a result of a tick bite, so if they continue, you might want to get that checked out. Wishing you well!

Sending positive thoughts your way Gabby. Yeah, stress can really get to you and once it starts a cascading effect can take place. I would suggest what I have recommend to patients, identify the early markers, stop immediately whatever you’re doing and spend time doing Deep Muscle Relaxation (DMR, also called Progressive Muscle Relaxation) otherwise the cascading effects just worsen the symptoms. Google DMR or PMR (the words not the acronym) and you will likely find scripts to follow that hopefully will be helpful. No doubt but that you are a strong person but developing a new skill set to help you through trying times may alleviate or at least mitigate your symptoms.

It's possible your headaches are being caused from the smoke from the wildfires. Up here in Maine, myself and my family have been getting migraines the last few weeks and we don't normally get them. We believe it was the smoke from the fires. Keep your chin up, you're killing it. Excited to see where your journey takes you!

So glad you didn't come across that creepy nut on the trail - steer clear if you can or maybe buddy up with someone until you no longer see his car or hear about him. This is a low point - try to think of it this way: From where you now are, things can only get better - they probably can't get much worse. Be well, stay safe.

Sorry you're feeling bad! Migraines have a multitude of triggers. I suffered with them from my teens until my 60's. Hormones can play a huge part, as well as different foods, and stress. If your headaches are one-sided, they are most likely migraine. Seeing your doctor would be wise. He/she can prescribe a migraine medication (that worked wonders for me), and you may need an anti-anxiety medication, even just temporarily. I hope you can feel better soon! I enjoy your videos and wish you the best of luck!

To get this far in only 90 days is a big accomplishment. Please be aware of tick diseases. I've been tick sick 8 times. Flu like symptoms, a "halo" type headache, and eye sensitivity to sunlight tell me that I'm tick sick again. I now use Permethrin and haven't been tick sick in 5 years. I hope that you feel better soon. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick

Don't feel bad being honest, you're keeping it real. Im following Nahamsha, Typical and Hiking with Hyms and a few more and they had to change their trail diets due to the same ill feelings and tiredness. Trail diet is rough. More water and protein seemed to help them. Hoping you feel better. You're fun to watch and im cheering you on. 😊

Caffeine helps sometimes with migraine and upset stomach--or Excedrin, it has caffeine. If you're at a motel, get a bunch of ice, put it in a plastic bag, wrap it in a t shirt, and put it on your head. And shut out all the lights in the room, especially daylight. That always helps me and I sure hope it helps you! Feel better!

Migraines can be caused by lots of different things. One thing you might want to do is get your blood pressure checked to see if that is a contributing factor.

How horrible for you, to have to carry on when you were feeling that dreadful. I hope you're over it and feeling better. If I had one suggestion that might make a difference it would be to see if you could eat real fresh food as often as possible; it seems hikers live on a diet that under normal circumstances wouldn't be regarded as optimal. Weeks and weeks of that tends to leave one feeling a bit run down.

I know these videos are delayed, so advice may be pointless, but wait for your friend to catch up and have someone to talk to. Drinking a lot more water never hurts when it comes to headaches. You are probably working harder in NY and likely need more hydration. Also, you’re on vacation. Relax.

Don't take your safety for granted. Walking past this man's truck means you're much too close and you're much too vulnerable. Can you get a ride or a safe rideshare with a woman to a location much further ahead on the trail ... to get away from this serious threat? Sadly, the reality is that some sections of the AT are becoming very unsafe especially for women hiking alone due to the rise in crime especially around NYC. It's no disgrace in fact it's prudent and wise to protect your life even if that means skipping dangerous parts of the AT. I'd say your health and your stress level are affecting your situational awareness and sound judgement. Safety first. I hope you feel better and I hope other hikers take heed in high risk trail sections, and drop the stigma of failure put upon hikers who skip dangerous sections intentionally out of wise caution. A real failure would be to know of dangers like you encountered up close, ignore them, and find oneself a tragic victim. Get far enough away from there! Those of us who live right on the AT in the mid Atlantic have known for over a decade, never go hiking alone, without a means of self defense and training. Sadly too many vulnerable untrained "through hikers" hike alone when they shouldn't, and they rely on wishful thinking to keep them safe. All the best to you, please put meaningful distance between you and this serious threat and I don't mean by hiking alone. I think your gut is telling you the same thing. Always listen to your gut feelings!
