When day9 mentioned all the enemies on screen, i had suddenly happy flashbacks yo "mobbing" in Ragnarok Online. Its an old Korean sprite-based 2.5D mmo, but it had 0 leash ranges, so if there was 150 enemies on large map at once, sometimes you could get 30-40 of them all chasing you if you were good, then run them into a mega wizard aoe spell.. so good!!! Wish more games let us do that, i wanna see a huge mob get hit with all the numbers!!!

@@Jordynjat those MVP bosses that had like a 2 hour respawn timer on the popular leveling maps were no joke! Gotta get fast on your fly wing hotkey to teleport away second you see it wander on screen lol. Fun times...

And the more enemies targeting you, the lower your dodge% was, exponentially I think. Some mobs you could easily handle 1v5, but bring a pack of 50 and at the slightest lag, they literally mobbed you - and this game lagged a lot at the time... Obligatory mention that I still listen to the OST on a regular basis, so many good tracks on there it's unreasonable.

@@MagnaKay Oh ya! I loved a ton of the mechanics, and how flee worked was cool and nicely complimented the mobbyness of game. Thief/Assassin can school 1 mob with 95% dodge or something, but suddenly 3? you are kissing that ground lol. :)

@@robsonclark9678 Just so you know, I played it again in 2020 (it's still up, and it's free to play nowadays). It holds up surprisingly well, especially visually. Some of the gameplay elements are a bit dated, and it's a bit on the grindier side (that hasn't changed at all), but I had a ton of fun. Plus I finally got to play a Gunslinger :) And yea, a lot of the mechanics are still interesting. For a game that age, it also had a fair amount of people roaming about.

I played like 15 runs or so and haven't gotten one of these chests. And I only do Hyper library, I have the luck power up maxed, and I also take clover.

NL's videos fucked me up the first time I played, honestly. The first few hours I thought my absurd bad luck had followed me from other games and had tainted yet another, thankfully watching more videos revealed that they're actually a really rare reward and NL was just briefly blessed. Also it's nice to know that the chest RNG really stops mattering once you learn the game, you should hit the level cap on almost every run anyway so at most it just means missing out on a bit of gold. Early access though, so if they add enough fusions that level up and maybe even fusions of fusions that level up then it could conceivably hit a point where you'll always have something to upgrade and then chest RNG might start to be frustratingly relevant again. For now though it mostly just looks nice and occasionally helps speed a weird build up to a point where it starts to do cool things.

So the thing about the pricing on this game is that I think it'll actually make way more by having it so cheap since everyone is going to be willing to try it.

Sure, but they arguably could've charged $5 and sold roughly the same amount since that's going to be a negligible difference for most people. I'm not sure how to look up the exact numbers but apparently nearly 40,000 people have bought it already so even if some were turned away we're still probably talking about tens of thousands of dollars they "missed out on" by undervaluing the product (although I also don't know what steam's cut is, so it wouldn't all go to the designer). Hopefully they just focus on the breakout success part rather than lying awake at night kicking themselves for not making even more off of it, since you're right that any increase can turn away customers and it's hard to know what will randomly blow up these days.

I swear, this game must've been created by a blob of serotonin as a new form of reproduction. The sound effects stack perfectly to give you the *feel* of hitting a bunch of enemies with big attacks. Each tier of chest simultaneously hits harder than the last and also makes lower tiers feel unsatisfying in comparison, leaving you wanting five random upgrades more than actually completing a build just because ALL THE LIGHTS AND MUSIC AND SHINIES OH MY GOD The controls are distilled to their barest minimum, but by making every weapon interact with movement differently it feels like you have a ton of choices when you're literally just tilting a joystick. It's nearly impossible to feel cheated in this game because all of your stuff follows an obvious rhythm and enemies are simple. If you died, it's because you either failed to deal enough damage to break through a crowd or you walked into an enemy when you shouldn't have. And there's a ton of stats that you can focus on to min-max your build, or you can just look at a weapon and decide you wanna level it up. Every powerup is diverse enough to change your playstyle when you get it (even Peachone's black-feathered sibling with an identical attack, Ebony Wings, rotates his attacks in the exact opposite direction so now you want to line up the bird AoEs and absolutely nuke a small group of enemies). I could probably make this game. Yet I bought it and spent 10 hours playing instead. I do not regret this one bit.

While the game sure is fun i think it should be pointed out that many of (if not all) the assets are copied from castlevania symphony of the night. If Konami finds out about this i imagine the dev might have not a very nice encounter.
