You absolutely made the right decision. For me, doing parts of the AT involved seeing and enjoying all the sites. It’s hard to do that if you’re rushing to do more than 40 miles in a day. Hiking your own hike is best. Being well enough to get all the way to Katahdin is the goal. Take care of yourself and keep on hiking!

That green stagnant water was the old C&O Canal, and you were walking on the tow path as the A.T. I hope your new shoes solve your foot problems, either way, it was good to slow down and have an easier day. Hike safe, Hike strong, Have fun! geek

I fully agree.. take care of your feet....Coming from someone off trail for 3 months due to a stress fracture of the cuboid bone in my foot. This is day 73 since I hobbled off trail to Boots Off Hostel shuttle pick up area, and I'm still in an aircast. 😢
