per diem aren't taxed since they are facilitative in nature unless you are in the private sector.What determines how to tax per diems is whether you need the amounts to be accounted for or not. If you require the employee to account (with receipts and invoices) for the amount given, then no tax will be applicable as long as the expenses are reasonable business expenses. On the other hand if you do not require for any accounting, then the first KShs 2,000 will be tax exempt and thereafter subject the balance of the amount to 30% on the employee

Ruku there is no motor vehicle tax in US. I live in the US. I have had 3 trucks in 10 years. The only tax you pay is atthe purchase which is sales tax and that varies depending on the state.. The only thing we do yearly is registration which is less than what is proposed

A taxi driver paying PAYE, fuel associated taxes and asking them to pay tax on their vehicles is beyond unreasonable. For everyday vehicle owner a car is just for convenience other than thats its a liability. Why would people pay tax on that?
