I'm in the middle of a big move across country, so clearing out so many drawers! Ack! We're an older couple, so we've collected things in our lives together, raising our kids and so forth. As I go, I'm brutally purging. I'm a collector, so this will be hard. I'll keep things that are special, but my drawer full of pens that don't work was trashed. It's a start! Thanks for the video!

For many years I was so organised that I had one junk drawer and even that was always organised too. Fast forward a few years, trauma, health issues, divorce and 7 moves in 10 years and I can say I am no longer the crazy organised woman I once was. In some ways I'm happier, but I know a big part of me misses those days where my home had a place for everything and everything was in it's place. 😳

Thanks so much for this series. I'm pretty organized, but had too much craft stuff. Although it took all day yesterday I tossed & am gifting stuff to co-worker. I scrapbook among other crafts & had so many left over paper & stickers. Yarn, etc. I would never use. ( I buy on sale or close out) then there were the pads of paper that were a mistake buy. You helped me to let go of that & "sentimental " stuff I had & had no idea why I kept them, I & my hubby we're both widowed & after his daughter lost everything in Harvey & husband surprised her with divorce & custody battle of our 3 year old granddaughter, things don't seem so important any more unless you use them.

The “candle drawer” makes me think of our own no-man’s-land at our last apartment-I kept all the half-burned candles that I didn’t want to throw away in the cabinets above the fridge, which only my housemate could reach. It eventually became the junk cabinet for whatever we weren’t going to use but didn’t throw away for some reason, and every time we put a something else up there we’d chant “with the candles! with the candles!”

I used to colect pens. They were all colors, many shapes, from many countries, I had a hard time letting go of them and actually carried with me at least five pens that didn't work for five years or so, I moved houses maybe seven times and brought them with me when I went to live in another country. I know, embarrassing, stupid, lame. Then something happened and I started purging and that collection doesn't exists anymore. Of course you know it was NOT only useless pens. I had lots of useless things, specially craft "supplies" (it was garbage, not supplies). I am a collector, I own lots of stuff. Long story short, I became someone who likes to clean, likes to purge, l was always somewhat organized but now I am good at it. That's why I found you, to be better at it. I will never be a minimalist but my life is simpler now that I have less stuff. Still, I did the junk drawer today and found eight pens that don't work. 😳 Oh, well...

You can revive most water based markers by using a dropper and putting a few drops of water on the tip. Keep it upright to let the water absorb in. If it's still dry, add more water. It works for most of those kind of markers. The color of the marker might change slightly or be softer after doing this a few times but the markers last so much longer.
@ruthlloyd11637 жыл бұрын
Scrappicat good idea, but if you already have 60 that work, it’s not worth the trouble👩🎨

I am sorry you went through that. I got pregnancy induced kidney stones with both my pregnancies. I wasn't supposed to get pregnant anyway because I injured my back & pelvis in the Marine Corps & my Dr told me I shouldn't. My babies were 9lb 9oz & 9lb 14 oz. My daughter was also breech and I had her turned without an epidural, then after induction she had a prolapsed cord. We got that corrected with my midwife, labored for 9 more hours after that, and then had to be rushed to hospital because her heart rate dropped. It was chaos! So much drama! So many of us have crazy birth & pregnancy stories! :)

I’m with ya on rotten pregnancies! I fainted & needed IV’s a lot because I wouldn’t throw up LESS than 8x/day & was constantly dehydrated. I still had healthy, 9lb+ babies though! I actually know several people who started fainting a lot after receiving the DTaP vaccine (some pregnant, some not). I know that even though the manufacturer says it was never tested on pregnant women, here in the US they recommend it for pregnant women. there is a fainting warning on the insert even. Do they also recommended in Canada? I was just curious to see if maybe your fainting started after receiving that shot? (Auto-immune disorders are linked to the DTaP as well). Either way, I’m so glad you get to be done with that!❤️ Pregnancy is a curse for many people, but I did it six times & I still wouldn’t trade any of my experiences with anyone. Love my kiddos & they’re totally worth it!

I remember Uncle Fester! 😂 Both my pregnancies I felt like I'd been poisoned. I was so sick at the end of my last pregnancy I was admitted to hospital & put on a drip because I was so dehydrated I honestly thought I was gonna die. The midwives called my son my little parasite because he drained every drop of goodness from me. My bottom lip turned black from bringing up all the bile 😷 Luckily the ill feeling lifted the minute I gave birth & both my babies were strong, healthy & beautiful. Never again though!! 👶🚫😂

Im worried about Milo. If he is only four, where is he getting the death and dismemberment info from? There was a little boy about six who was drawing things like that and then starting getting very angry and acting out. His grandfather, a brain specialist, insisted on a cerebral CAT scan which showed a small tumor growing fast on the left side of his frontal lobe which had to be removed.. pediatricians refused, but his grandfather found a neurosurgeon at Children's Hospital in Boston who did the surgery. The tumor turned out to be so dangerous, and they caught it just in time. The child would have died had they not caught it in time. So just to pass on the info. That is not normal behavior. I would get him checked out. This is serious, Cass. Kids who do stuff like that are experiencing something. Don't be afraid to be proactive. My other thot is the cute decor in Milo's room: superheros are all about violence. Perhaps some vibe in there near his head, like a lamp right at the head of his bed, or around his body like throw pillows he leans on, is affecting his behavior. Children are physically very, very sensitive. Color schemes really affect them too. The color schemes of children's toys are very upsetting. It is not an accident that the little girls aisle is full of bright pink and the little boy's aisle is full of dark blue, black and army camo colors. Child psychologists advise the toy companies, so you should be aware that your innocent child is their psychological target. Perhaps a softer palette of colors? It might be that the bright colors are too upsetting and too stimulating to him. In school, we know this, and surround little children with pastels and pastel color schemes. Perhaps he has seen some violent movies that at his age he cannot distinguish from reality which really shocked him into this preoccupation? Or perhaps he saw something at a friends house? I wouldn't let this go. I'd change his environment and get him checked out. I'd want to find the cause of something so unusual. I'd be careful of his plastic superhero toys too. Does he have toys that almost push him into playing conflict and death scenarios? Big muscles and lots of sharp teeth have that kind of influence. Just a few thots from a concerned retired elementary teacher.

My third pregnancy I had really bad nausea it lasted all day and I couldn't even drink water that went on for a time frame of 3 months I wanna say (honestly I didn't keep track)🤢. Third pregnancy wasn't that bad I was eating good I actually gained weight (I didn't previously) but I had horrible pain in my pelvic region I used to use ice packs because it hurt so much. My doctor said it was normal.😕 On another note love the challenge I get to declutter and listen to your stories.
