LOVE hearing this. i'm a new nurse on a cardiac telemetry unit, so diet and nutrition is SO important for our patients. i get a lot of post-CABG patients, many of whom are medically complicated because of co-morbidities like renal disease and diabetes, so our dietitians are SO key to helping us and teaching us nurses. BE EMPOWERED GIRL

I appreciate hearing the case studies from the perspective of a RD. I had 12" of my colon removed in college and was also on a J-Tube for a year... Surprisingly, I NEVER received proper support from a nutritional standpoint. THANK YOU for going into this field as it is clear you truly care about the patients.

So glad you're making these videos! I'm a freshman in college working on becoming a registered dietitian and also have been vegan for 3 years so it's cool to see how someone else can work these lifestyle choices in together. Awesome job girl!

A suggestion for your patient - could someone sit with him and encourage him to finish his meals? Either you, his favourite nurse or a family member (obviously someone you've had a chat with so they know how important it is for him to eat more). Perhaps sitting with him and actively encouraging him through meals like you would a small child might help?

I’ve been binge watching your videos for two days and already I’ve decided I want to try doing yoga every day for a year to help my postpartum anxiety after having twins. Also adopt a vegan plant based diet because your food looks bomb and i always took the vegan approach the wrong way but now I’m learning so much from you!!!❤️

These vids are so interesting! I'm just finishing my Masters in Nutrition, more of a research pathway but we also do non-medical clinical nutrition so it's interesting to get an insight into what the hospital situation involves. It does look really interesting.

good luck w your pt amanda! hopefully the doctor ups the dose on the appetite stimulant. if not i guess it’s best to have tube feeding recs in your note just in case the doctor decides to do that now that the gut is working. he’ll never heal properly if he doesn’t get the proper protein and kcals.

Can we get an update with this case study? Just curious if you were able to turn around this patient's situation. BTW, 7:02 is the reason why we need more dietitians on board or physicians who emphasize more on nutrition when approaching their patients. My salute.

I have a lot of these issues. Not on tpn anymore. I don’t have a colon. I have a j pouch. I talked to a nutritionist bc my insurance wanted me to. She said to eat 1800 which I eat way more then and told me I have eating disorder tendencies bc I purée my fruits/veggies that my body won’t absorb. I’ve been catching up/binging your videos and I wish I had your advice instead of the other professionals I’ve scene the last ten years. Do you do personal coaching? I eat very similar to you. Ty for sharing all your knowledge with me. It’s been very helpful! ✌🏼

Hi, I really need some advice. I’m currently taking a degree in accounting and finance (parent’s choice), and honestly it’s not a field that I am interested and passionate about. All I wanted was to study nutrition, but my friends and family don’t believe that this field is not a good option as it is “unprofitable” in their opinion. But I really want to take a degree course in nutrition because that’s all I care about and I know that I will be able to help many people. Is there a way for me to take nutrition degree courses online?because I can’t physically attend two university at once. And are there any recommendations for good college for online nutrition degrees? Or should I just not be too ambitious and stick to accounting and finance?

I've heard too much b12 can cause it? Like most sprays/tablets are actually way more than your body actually needs. Maybe try only taking your b12 every other day

Nicole - I am a 3 year vegan too and had acne my whole adult life (35) - until a few months ago. I recently gave up coffee and at the same switched from peanut butter to almond butter and my skin is now completely clear!!! I am not sure which was the offender, the PB or the coffee, but try cutting those and see what happens? I had given up years ago on my acne as I thought I had tried everything...

Do you recommend any appetite suppressants for people whose obesity endangers their life?
@sunvavachi5 жыл бұрын
Aw poor guy. Sounds like everything is so hard for the patient. Have they done a check up on his mental status? Like a Montreal test. And to try an SSRI to improve his overall mind? If he is bed ridden those wounds may be coming due to those due to less circulation. The appetite stimulant can only do so much. I think an SSRI + small increase in stimulant can help! Maybe try that! Some patients encounter depression on par to post surgery and sounds like his case is classic for it and he already is in renal failure too. He must be really down which is suppressing his appetite naturally. He just needs to be happy again! That's my medical take on it!
@Jordan-oh8ef5 жыл бұрын
Would a liquid diet work? Since liquids don't really affect appetite and can be high in calories so then he would be getting more energy to heal his wounds etc. Then could you increase the appetite drug as well until he has an appetite back and then switch him back to a solid diet? Your channel is great! I'm a student dietitian in my third year of study.

Elly Bean probably would be a good idea if he was ever discharged but you can’t give medical marijuana in hospitals even if it’s legal in the state you practice in because it’s still illegal on the federal level.
