Most definitely! Especially if you have secret clearances. Those help make you more marketable once you're trained and up to speed.

Currently taking a 16 week Cyber Security Training Program offered through the community college that I attend which once completed I will be taking the CompTIA Security+ Exam. Then I will be eligible for over 400 Cyber Security positions within the state that reside in. Did you take any certifications to get into the field of Cyber Security?

I unfortunately did not, but was lucky enough to land a job back when the industry was much less competitive. How is the cert training program?

I was mostly self taught. I learned a lot in the help desk by doing more advance troubleshooting.

Transitioning from network I would say I gained a better understanding of network traffic which has been very helpful when trying to respond to certain incidents.

Did you get your help desk position through indeed and also is do you think it’s best to learn network as much as possible first before transitioning into cybersecurity so it makes it easier to understand cyber? Thank you so much for the previous answers too
@pushtoprod

No I do t think I used indeed. Though a good understanding of networks is good to have, I wouldn’t say it’s a true requirement to get into cyber
