Being unmotivated is common, especially in IT. I always find myself watching KZbin videos instead of writing PowerShell scripts I should be doing or studying for certifications. Pomodoro is a great technique not only for studying but for breaking up long sessions of work. No one can work 4hrs straight, we all slack at some point, so implementing something to break that up is perfect. I have a timer for every 1hr where I’ll check in with my Tier 1 help desk and see if they need help and if not, I’ll take a short break. Just doing something is perfect. Love your videos as always!!
@Wahinies9 ай бұрын
Thanks for the reminder about pomodoro. There is actually a video about the best learning patterns for our brain and this study showed getting three things every 30 minutes maintains our ability to learn. Hydration, oxygen, and movement. That fits right in with what Pomodoro found in 1980 with the 25 minute intervals. I have found standing desks make it easier to achieve this.

25 minutes of work and 5 minutes of rest is called Pomodoro Techniques, a lot of successful people use it. I have low attention span so I do 15 minutes, my trick is, if the 15 minutes are over but im in hot streak I keep going until I need a break. And don't exceed breaks over 5 minutes.

Just found your channel. Really have thought how much I'd love to be a Pentester one day. From the age of 8 I've been tweaking things. The wife and I decided to go to college together and both get a certificate/degree in network engineering. Has been fun and interesting. But my favourite parts of it were fixing the networks and we are currently taking a Cyber sec class. Our first formal one. And addressing the issues in the sim and fixing them/patching them, has been so cool. I'm on the fence now whether I should go more into pentesting or security engineering. Because designing and setting up networks/securing them is fun too. And I've heard it's a more secure job than a pentester too. I have a family, 3 kids so job security is number 1. If you did manage to read this. Knowing the very little you got from this. What do you think? Are you testing things often? Red teaming? And do alot of your tickets you get involve diagnosing and fixing security issues/network issues? I'm going to watch and listen to more videos. But wanted to drop this comment here. Thank you for posting this, really interesting to see what you really do in this job role!

Pen testing is a great field to go into, I’m not a pen tester but work with them often. I will say they have to spend a large amount of their time reading documentation and understanding the product or service they are attempting to test. Based on what you mentioned I think a good path could be Firewall Engineering. Working in Pablo, Cisco, and other firewall environments. From what I see they have a great work life balance all seem to enjoy what they do and usually most of them started of networking. When it comes to job security or testing may be more future proof as Technology advances but that’s always super hard to determine. Do you current have any vendor specific networking certs?

I can't drink coffee because it upsets my stomach. I am not a morning person at all and I'm trying my hardest to push through alot right now. All of the tech day in the life videos are exactly the same. wake up, wash face, brush teeth, breakfast, some sort of exercising, barely anything to do with their job, tons of aimless talking and babbling having to do nothing about technical aspects of their career, mentioning they have "a meeting" and "some things to do" more eating, walk the dog, dinner. BOOM, done.

Your making me want to work harder. But also your making me feel like my level of motivation is much more advance than yours so I'm going to be fine. You stuck in a rift and you have 0 intention of getting the work done 😂

Like any good IT worker 3-4 screens is a must and the other one/two could be a gaming/Netflix screen lol.
