This is so cool. Part of me would LOVE to own a card shop. It's actually a dream. I go to work every day at a 9 to 5 desk job that I absolutely hate. I have zero passion for it and I just don't care. I'm here for a paycheck and nothing more. But cards? THERE is my passion. I love everything about it. Buying, selling, collecting, organizing my collection, inspecting cards to send for grading. I spend hours every night doing this and I guess technically it's "work" but I love it and would love to make a career out of it. Only thing I feel like I would have trouble with is NOT ripping open all the inventory lol. I see boxes and packs laying around? My first instinct is OPEN OPEN OPEN! So I feel like for me personally, owning a card shop would be a dream and torture at the same time lol. Nice shop you got though. Congrats on all the success!

My first trade night I went to was in a good size card shop back in 88. I was collecting for a few years at that point. Admission was a $1 and you got a free pack of 88 Topps Baseball. Pulling a Mattingly, Boggs or one of the Bash Brothers of Canseco or McGwire was the highlight! Times have definitely changed and has gotten more expensive but it's still the same concept.

How about dedicating yourself to something worthwhile? I enjoy cards too, but there are so many substantive things to do in life that tangibly improve the world and people’s lives. Dedication to a hobby is admirable, but this is just not a productive hobby in the grand scheme of things. Other options would be: Learn a language Play an instrument Work out Read/study something intellectually enriching

Sasquatch Sports Cards & Snakes How are any of those things you mentioned “more productive” than collecting cards? Sounds like the OP is genuinely happy with what he is doing. Find what makes you happy. Do it. Don’t be the guy who enters a KZbin channel to tell people how to be “more productive”.
