I started driving city buses in Phoenix in 1999,we've been using the rear door for boarding and de boarding the bus in a week we're going to start using the front door again. I like driving a bus to me is like a moving office. Our # 1 operator retired last month after 41 years of service driving a bus, the current # 1 in seniority has been with us 40 years so my 22 years is nothing compared to them. Greetings to all bus drivers worldwide keep up the good work!!!!. I'm getting close to my 2 millions miles and the wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round.........

Don't listen to the negative comments. I've been driving for 5 years. My only regret is I didn't start when I turned 21. 50 now and I've had way harder jobs. Not gonna lie there are times I just wanted to throw in the towel and quit. But when you drive in the snow in a electric bus where the it popped into neutral and no chains (one side engaged) down a 7 percent grade on ice and snow I can handle anything this job throws at you. Talk about a butt clencher. We do not get the love and respect we deserve. I honestly try to help my community but you have 2% unfortunate people who try to ruin my day. My biggest complaint is passengers not having pass or money ready and lying about not having fare granted the fare doesn't come out of my paycheck. This especially happens when driving our rapid routes. Overall best job I've ever had and plan on retiring from this job provided my health stays good. One last thing, getting your class B CDL will open doors for other jobs if transit driving doesn't work you.

I can't believe i'm just seeing this video! When i relieve a driver, i do a walk around, checking for leaks, the tires, bike rack, windows and doors. I also wipe down my area. When passengers exit the bus, i spray the entire bus. When i get back to the yard, i do a post-trip inspection. I do another walk around, checking for leaks, leaning, doors, windows, etc. i examine the interior, and do a break check. Now i have a paper version of the check list that i keep in my clipboard, if anything happens during the route, i can notate it on the paper version checklist, so when i get back to the yard, i can enter it into the clever so that there is a digital version, as well as a paper version...
