Several thoughts right now. First, drop your skincare routine, please. Your skin is GLOWING. 2. Your voice is so soothing and just the way to talk about your job/ career you can tell just how passionate you are and I love that for you! 3. This was so nice to watch. I currently have a BS degree in nutrition and dietetics and am working as a dietitian (love my job) however, I am looking to become a college professor as I genuinely love to teach and educate people. So, thank you for your videos! Will definitely continue to watch!

I enjoy your videos. I teach graduate level education courses so my courses are typically scheduled after school hours (either beginning at 4:30 pm or 7:00 pm). The only exceptions to this are my summer courses which are scheduled during the day. I am only an adjunct (which sucks). Would love to hear some advice about getting a full time position.

Just stumbled upon your channel and in love with it! I’m an aspiring professor but have yet to start my PhD. I currently teach high school chemistry . I wanted to ask how much work you take home with you? One of my struggles is keeping up with all the lesson planning and grading . Also, from one woman of color to another , we need more of us representing STEM!❤️❣️

Yay! I'm so happy that you found my channel! I actually don't take any work home (before the pandemic). I started this practice in grad school. I always get distracted when I'm working at home. So I always get everything done in my office. And if I need to work on the weekend, I go to my office to do that. I would typically go to my office for a couple hours on a Sunday to prepare for the week.

The Academic Society with Toyin Alli oh okay nice! I’m the same way, I usually would stay in my classroom to get most work done but I always get so worn out by the end of the day I just want to sleep 😂 I also had another question, would you think that there would be a higher job market for Chemistry Ph.Ds or Chemical Education PhDs instead ?
@theacademicsociety4 жыл бұрын
@@xxladybug94 I'm not sure how it is for Chemistry but I know that in Math sometimes Math Education PhDs don't have to take as high level math courses. So they can't teach the high level math courses. So depending on the type of job you want when you finish it may be harder. But I'm not sure how it is for Chemistry

I'm 15 and would love to be a literature professor one day. I'm going to take english language, English literature and psychology for A level. Will these help? I also took theatre and french for gcse. I took theatre to help with my confidence in speaking and I took a language so I can get an English baccalaureate when I pass my GCSE's. What sort of work experience should I get? Great video, thank you!!

Hello glad I searched this video and watched and learned. But there is one query that- do professor work like a high school teacher or there are differences in teaching method?
@theacademicsociety4 жыл бұрын
In my experience, professors aren't trained in teaching. So what they do is all over the board. I've never taken any education classes so I'm sure that what high school teachers do to structure and plan their classes are much more informed. I kind of just do what I notice my students connect most with. It's definitely a learning process.

I'm sure it depends on your field. But many departments have instructional faculty. Some of the instructional faculty in my department have masters degrees. In math, they are typically called Instructors.

Hello my major is in bilingual education for primary school. I would like to get my master and doctorate. Is there a specific program that I need to have to become a full time professor? Like instruction and curriculum or educational leadership? Thank you ❤️
@theacademicsociety6 жыл бұрын
Hey Elide! All you need is a PhD to be a professor. And you don't have to necessarily get your degree in a specific subject to be a professor of that subject. For example, I got my PhD in Math. I could be a professor in a math department, statistics department, engineering department, or business school. It mostly depends on the type of professor you want to be. For example, I'm a Lecturer, which means that my focus is on teaching instead of research. If you want to be a tenure track professor, you are mostly hired based on your research. It may be different in other fields, but that's how it is in math. I hope I answered your question! Basically, you need a PhD to be a professor and it doesn't matter the field. I've never taken an education course in my life and that's true for most professors who don't study education.
