This sounds like such a great position! I’m an outpatient RD but just been an RD for about 3 yrs. I love seeing where RDs are in the career world!

what would you recommend for satiety? I don't notice the difference of adding protein or fiber so I plan to add vegetables to increase volume of meals. I may look into glucomannan.

I’m planning on switching majors and I’m really debating on switching to nutrition. Would you recommend this major?

In my experience, nutrition degrees are heavy in science with applied nutrition along with foodservice courses. Some courses include; medical nutrition therapy, nutrition through the lifecycle, macro and micronutrients, nutrition counseling, nutritional genomics, etc. One thing to keep in mind, to become a Dietitian you will now be required to obtain a Master’s degree, a dietetic internship (unpaid), and sit for the RD exam. With all of that being said, I LOVED getting a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition with an emphasis in Dietetics. I am currently applying for my internships and starting my Master’s in the spring. Best of luck to you!

Hi guys! I've been away for awhile so forgive me if this message is way too late or never seen, but! I would agree. As a dietitian, you do make less than a physician. There are pre-med students who minor in nutrition though! So that's something to consider. We need more people in medicine who value and have an interest in nutrition - so this is great!! I hope that helps :)

Hi!!!!! In what settings did you do your diatetic internship???? Thanks
@delanceydays Жыл бұрын
Hi!! Do you mean like the type of rotations? I did clinical, community, and foodservice. Those are the three big pillars of the internship!

Hi! I'm wondering how you transitioned from pursuing RD to communications, and how you have combined both
@delanceydays3 ай бұрын
Hello! I just always made it very clear to my mentors and peers what my interests and specialties were. A preceptor from my internship knew this about me and immediately reached out when he heard about a job opportunity that required a dietitian's license but also a knack for event planning, public speaking, and public relations. So I would say just own your interests and find ways to use your interests in the current place you are now. When I worked in a clinical setting, for example, I always volunteered to cover any speaking roles if media wanted to interview our department. Or I'd volunteer to create nutrition workshop flyers. Or oversee the newsletter. Bloom where you are planted and more will follow! Best of luck on your journey!

How did you come across a job like this? As a dietetic student, I love the flexibility of what you're doing.
@delanceydays Жыл бұрын
I interned with them during my internship! I feel like that is a great time to really reach out and try everything that comes your way. I never expected to be working in a position like this. So just stay open and really utilize that time in your internship! Even if you don't think you'll like something. It might surprise you.

Same, I’m interested in doing something very similar. What would you recommend as far as schooling/training?
@delanceydays Жыл бұрын
@@kayleemoran2248 If you want to go into a field like this I would definitely recommend a dietitian's license. But also minor or double majoring in something business related like marketing. If that's too much you can position yourself as an aspiring business/marketing dietitian through your extracurriculars as a student! Make sure you get some hands on experience while in school to not only build your resume, but to confirm that you truly enjoy this line of work!
