Hi! How many days are nurses required to work?
@mochibam3 жыл бұрын
@@Piscesbitcx It depends where you work. In a hospital usually full time is 3 days, part time is 2 days, you can also work per diem which is once a week or more and each shift is 12 hours. Clinic nurses (depending on the clinic) work 5 days for 8 hours a day. Speciality clinics like heart transplant usually work 10 hour shift for 4 days for full time.

I don't know how people work that many hrs either... When do they find time to enjoy life? Id imagine that it's work, come home and go to bed. What a horrible existence that will soon be mine I'm assuming and I'm not sure how I will do it with serious mental health issues, but it's very, VERY hard to get disability. Hi Miki, What kind of outpatient nurse are you? Surgery? I too am trying to find alternatives to bedside nursing. I'm a new grad RN. But...it seems like most outpatient jobs require 1-year of bedside experience...
@arringtonellis89713 жыл бұрын
Just wanted to weigh in to give you some options as an RN! Most jobs outside of the hospital/bedside setting require you to have anywhere between 1-3 years of experience. I’ve been an RN for 3 years now and 2 of those years were spent doing bedside nursing. I work as a government contracted nurse now in an outpatient clinic and it was the best decision I could have made for myself! Contract nursing is definitely an option depending on where you live; outpatient surgery and similar settings are also good. Hope this helps and best of luck! 😁

@deergreentea28473 жыл бұрын
hi i’m thinking about starting a job in dialysis as a nurse new grad. do u have any advice? 😭😭
@sharonsmith46593 жыл бұрын
@@deergreentea2847 I started in dialysis as a new grad nurse. Then I went off and did other things…med surg/oncology/hospice and then came right back to dialysis. I love dialysis because it is so specialized. I actually found a hospital that did a Preceptorship for last semester nursing students and I purposefully picked dialysis as the unit to work In. I was able to get to know the manager and had his support so he hired me right out of school. But my dialysis clinic is ran by the hospital which is not common. So my advice would be to reach out to a dialysis center near you and see if you could shadow and have a conversation with the manager if you like it and tell them that you are interested. Dialysis clinics are always hiring nurses. But i suggest you shadow because it was way different than I thought it would be. Early mornings and lots of demands. I still love it though. You could even go in to acute hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis down the road. I’m never leaving.

If you’re going BSN (bachelors of science in Nursing) route, about 4 years unless you enroll in an accelerated program. There are other RN programs (without the bachelors degree) that can be 2 or less years. All depends on what works best for you 😊

I love nursing because there are so many different types of nursing jobs. I started off my career on a trauma unit at a level 1 hospital on night shifts - I learned a lot but hated my job (it just wasn’t for me). I went to outpatient cardiology and found the 4, 10 hour shift schedule and I absolutely loved my job. I recently started a new job helping to develop an outpatient amyloidosis clinic as a care coordinator and I love my role but work 5 8 hour shifts. There’s so many avenues you can go. But schooling can be expensive and exhausting. It might be worth it for me but not for someone else.
@theshinythings1233 жыл бұрын
It can depend on the state whether it's worth it. Some states have low pay, high patients loads. In that case other jobs might be a better option. I'm in California where the pay is high and is the only state with a mandated max number of patients.
