Good video it's cool to see this stuff especially since I'm trying to get accepted into the Program at a local community college near me in southern California.. I already have some General ed, courses banged out like Biology... English.... Sociology... psychology.... Art history... Kinesiology..And a leadership course Etc.... I hope that helps me to speed up the Academic portion of the Associate degree so I can focus on the A&P. Stuff and the other technical courses... And the program I'm trying to get into. Calls for 1'900 clinical hours as part of the graduation requirements and then we're allowed to take the state Exam for licensure... Is that about how it went for u? Thanks for your videos keep doing them. Maybe cover anatomy? Thanks again.

@SydneyPipp
@SydneyPipp 3 жыл бұрын
Each age group has their pros and cons. I found children to be more challenging but I enjoyed the exams more. I would absolutely recommend going through a children’s rotation through school to at least gain some experience with kids. Some adult hospitals still see a fair share of kids and you’ll want to know how to handle them!

As an X ray tech do you ever have to use needles on the patient? If yes, why? And how often ? Are there any specific X ray jobs where you’re less likely to use needles?
@SydneyPipp
@SydneyPipp 2 жыл бұрын
As an x-ray tech I have not had to use needles personally on a patient. There are procedures I am involved in where needles are used by other healthcare professionals but I am not the one "poking" a patient. However, as a CT tech I do carry the responsibility for placing IV's if contrast is needed on an outpatient. You can avoid needles all together as an x-ray tech if you work in a stand alone urgent care or outpatient facility that doesn't perform fluoroscopic procedures.

@beccanator1386
@beccanator1386 2 жыл бұрын
@@BassGal92 Many hospitals use them. And yes they look like torture devices, which is fair to say but they don’t hurt the baby. And they do make the baby cry, which is what we want! Crying helps to demonstrate the lungs better, and improves image quality, all intentional for diagnostic purposes :)

Looking into this but can't find any information on the pay for a pediatric X-Ray Tech.
@SydneyPipp
@SydneyPipp 8 ай бұрын
When I looked up radiographer on salary.com the average pay per hour was $32. One would think that working in a specialty such as pediatrics would mean that you get paid more but in all actuality a new grad is paid about 15-20% less than the stated average in my particular hospital.

Every patient is different so I can’t necessarily call it easy but you do get used to the exams and routine of things. I wouldn’t say that it’s a stressful job by any means. I’m an X-ray tech for 8 years. I’ve been doing adult X-ray ever since. Do you think going into pediatric X-ray might be a struggle?
@SydneyPipp
@SydneyPipp Жыл бұрын
It is absolutely an adjustment to go from adults to pediatrics but the struggle wouldn’t be long lasting. The exams are basically the same as with an adult with minor adjustments in positioning with infants. Obviously techniques would be dramatically reduced as well. If you have an interest in peds then go for it!

Is a radiology tech only taking the pictures and not reading the slides right? And can you also run mri and ct scans as a radiology tech?
@pughugs76
@pughugs76 2 жыл бұрын
Yes A radiologic technologist only takes the images. A radiologist reads the images. More often than not you need to be certified in those modalities and pass the CT and MRI boards in order to practice them. My program offers a one year extension to the radiography associates degree program to get a bachelors in medical imaging technology with a concentration in CT, MRI, sonography, etc.
@SydneyPipp
@SydneyPipp 2 жыл бұрын
Pug hugs hit the nail on the head. Some hospitals do offer cross training for CT so you can go straight into doing CT scans as a rad tech but they often require you to pass your boards within 12 months of hire.

How do, magnets find, any bones?
@SydneyPipp

X-ray is not a magnet like MRI. X-ray uses radiation to expose a patient and the remaining beam hits an image receptor that converts it into a digital image.
