Day in the life of a plumber
In todays video I add a new radiator onto an existing heating system. I show the complete job from start to finish to show you the problems and solutions we have to find as plumbers. Sometimes things have to be compromised on jobs like these, but all you can only ever do is your best
As always, thanks so much for watching, all the support is so greatly appreciated

What I loved about this one Tom is the fact it showed how difficult just adding one rad to a system can be! Some customers get my estimate thinking I’m robbing them. They genuinely don’t realise how difficult it can be. Fantastic as usual 😊

Hi Tom, it’s some years since I have seen any 8mm pipe, I get the occasional 10mm but microbore is not my favourite. You did a great job especially showing the problems that can be encountered just to successfully add one radiator. I would definitely have done it the same way as you did, to ensure the new radiator will get hot enough during the winter months. That’s another great film thank you and you are well on the way to 10k subscribers now, it’s well deserved. Have a great weekend and as always, take care. 👍👍👍

Thanks for the support as always Chris, we are getting close to the big 10k, there is a fair bit of 8mm around me, it seems to be in houses built in the 90's, usually with the egg box type walls as well

I love the way you just go for it mate. I would often dither thinking "oh shallI do it this way or that way" and then wouldn't do it either way. Respect to you for not falling into the sponsor trap. I used to watch a couple of other guys on here and they're signed up to different companies and it's become a bit like a cult amongst what I call "the expensive soft tool bag lads brigade". They tell you that you can get this great tool bag for just £80 when you buy it through their site. I thought now I'm older and retired I'll get me one of those soft lightweight bags. So I found one with the logo "Tough Master" it matches the colours of my Dewalt and Stanley tools and cost me just 22 quid from the main online sellers. Really well made and strong. Great vid mate.

Thanks for the support as always mate, I've had a few offers from companies but I would never want to mislead my viewers into buying something I don't truly believe in. I'm happy just to make videos I enjoy, I would hate myself If I ever swayed somebody into buying something I'd been given for free, only for the product to fail.

Some of these guys make me chuckle , not Tom , he's a real plumber. They have an expensive tool for every little eventuality and think they're the best plumbers on Gods earth. Would love to see how they get on threading a bit of 2"pipe or doing a shutdown on a time limit with some manager breathing down your neck. No the best plumbers are the guys doing the gritty stuff , working in a hospital undercroft for instance , not seen by anyone , out of sight but doing vital work.
@truthseeker7794
@truthseeker7794 Ай бұрын
@@paullbennett2923 Yes I agree, there are so many plumbing gods on YT who are always telling us that when they charge £200 to change a tap washer/cartridge that people are paying for their skill and knowledge and specialist tools. They make me laugh. I started off in the early 80's with 2 spanners and a 5 quid blow torch and when I retired 17 years ago I still didn't have one of those special tools for applying flux. How had I managed through all of those years.

Great vid Tom, Question for you mate . I’m fairly new in the trade only qualified earlier this year I’m on a job where the meter has been relocated so I’m forced to do quite a long run in 28mm. It’s basically coming up the side of the bungalow through the loft and down the hall way wall to connect on to the old gas outlet (and tee off to boiler and hob) Reasons for this seems the builder didn’t want to rip up this elderly lady’s floor etc . Have you ever had to run many gas pipes internally ? It’s seems abit of an eye sore. I’m going to label it with gas tape but again it’s not great to look at !
@PlumbLikeTom

Gas pipes can be a bit of an eye sore but there's not much you can always do. I have run them internally before, all you can do is try to keep them into corners as best as possible to make the possibility of boxing easier. Technically you don't have to label domestic gas pipes, but I sometimes think its good practice
