You saved me a lot of money, here & other videos where you have stressed that water will always take the easiest route. I had 2 rads completely cold & not brilliant elsewhere (but OK). Tried everything last winter, power flush, I removed & flushed the two rads (were mucky but not completely gunged up) hose flushed in situ, hose drained, x400 etc etc. & gave up then. Recently had three plumbers in with a variety of advise, most wanted to replace my magnaclean & pump & auto air bleed valves & lots of other bits & pieces (that all seemed to be working OK), considerable amount of money. I had said feels something fundamental about this but guess ignored, return always nice & hot so no full blockage I assumed but again this was something I hoped the experts would take as pointers to the potential problem. After your videos I looked at my system that had been professional installed, some years ago new boiler & repositioned and it dawned on me, the 22mm outlet immediately split, no valves, upstairs to 2 rads & down stairs 14 rads. simple up & over upstairs, long run all round the house downstairs. I put in a ball valve to the upstairs, turned it right down, immediately fixed, 2 rads now super hot & the rest just working much better. £7 fix instead of £2k no fix. Just so obvious now I think about it and rather alarmed no one spotted this. So to stress to anyone, water will take the path of least resistance. Similar issue that almost drove me mad some time ago & still have but understand & can mitigate (or fix if I could be bothered) but clearly the same issue but not so dramatic, same 50:50 split to the hot water so when HW & CH called, despite the 3 port correctly positioned almost no pressure goes to the heating, all recirculating via the HW tank. normally not too bad as heats the HW quickly'ish & back to the CH although once I had the tank stat too high & boiler turned down too low so it struggled to ever get the HW high enough to turn stat off so CH was always deprived. Sorry long winded but hope this gets people thinking.

I changed last year and I think it’s a game changer, it took a while to get used to as you have to plan out your pipework slightly differently but no more setting off smoke alarms and trying not to scorch skirting boards.

You will need NVQ qualifications in plumbing if you want to work in the public or private sector like NHS, schools, and many who will insist in qualifications ..... Obviously you don't need qualification if you want to be self employed, but you need experience ..... I think James is offering a beginner course to teach basic plumbing for general public! And if you find it interesting, then you can apply to a college for NVQ course ..... Don't take the few weeks courses because they don't teach you anything, and instead do courses at college which will take two to three years [ 2 days a week, 1 day (3 hours) theory, and 1 day (3 hours practice) .... Or it could be 6 hours in one day] ......and most importantly you find someone to work with to gain experience, and sometimes it can be hard to find one ....

The bananas are troubling me more than the plumbing. Why are they all at the same stage of ripeness? You would think you would want them staggered for perfect eating? In fact, you would expect this from such a banana connoisseur (had to google how to spell connoisseur). What does he do with them? Does he buy them in a supermarket or get some kind of special delivery? What does he know about bananas that we dont? Whats his favourite method of consumption? I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS AND NOT ONE OF THEM IS ABOUT PLUMBING. James, can you PLEASE try and get some kind of update on this. We have just had two radiators installed in an outbuilding. The radiators are lukewarm but the pipes are quite hot. What would be the cause of this? I have balanced the system to no avail
@TheSion69 ай бұрын
The pipe may have been undersized to the new radiators. If there is long runs of 10mm they will never get hot enough
@MrAas419 ай бұрын
@@TheSion6 appreciate the reply. I've checked the pipes and they all seem to be the same size so not sure that's the issue
@mushy34249 ай бұрын
When you say the pipes are hot, do you mean both flow and return? As previous poster said, the longer the run that harder the water has to push through. Have you tried closing down all other rads in the house and just leave those two fully open?
@MrAas419 ай бұрын
@@mushy3424 so I tried the closing all radiators apart from the two in the outbuilding, and the rads got hot. The outbuilding rads are probably about 8 metres away from the nearest rad in the house.
