A Vet Tech can get their degree after 2 years, it is like a specialized associates dregree. A Veterinary Technologist requires a 4-year batchlors degree and tend to work in research-related jobs (where you can make good money).

I started as a receptionist at an animal hospital then was cross trained :)

@@graceanderson4001 not all the time some places don’t care if you’ve gone to school or not to be a vet tech. Just have to experience with animals regardless if it’s a pet store etc. Some places train you on site after being accepted for the job.

So I’m not sure if I want to be a vet tech or a vet assistant how long is it if I just become a vet assistant and i transfer to a vet tech

If you work at a vet clinic, you'll definitely want to become licensed, not all places are as nice as this one seems... RVTs tell the assistants what to do... It's also more responsibility, more pay

That literally happened to me today as well! I was asked to help collect a fecal sample and as soon as I inserted the fecal loop, anal glands shot all over the place haha.

Danielle ** sort of like a difference between a nurse and a doctor. Vet tech are more hands while vets do more consultations and diagnosis
